If most people were disciplined enough to just quit, there would be a lot less smokers out there.. Practically every smoker I've ever known hates that they're addicted to it and wishes they had the will power to quit. I was one of those people. Have tried the usual quit smoking aids none worked. I was able to quit for awhile with weed, every time I wanted a cig I just smoked a joint.. That's expensive though and I have to stay clean now.

You know what I mean, right?
Why fiddlefuck around, wasting energy having to decide...constantly...when you can just cut that whole thing out of your life, right? I mean, if it's something that you can cut out.
Also, as Shroomslip said, sometimes it just isn't enough. How many people die from addictions yearly, just trying to white knuckle their discipline into gear?

Sounds like some AA bullshit to me. Discipline and knowing when to ask for help / using that help, are not mutually exclusive means to the end.

If you can't quit smoking cigarettes you probably shouldn't do drugs.
Especially hard ones. If you're addicted to those so hard you can't quit, anything hard will destroy your life.

I found cigs ten times harder to quit then IV meth.
The craving for nicotine is way stronger for meth even when you are heavily addicted to it.

Ya cause when you are a smoker you need the nicotine. When you are a tweaker you crave the high but you don't need it.

I just quit cigarettes cold turkey about 1 month ago. I run quite often, and wanted to improve my 2 mile run time, so I just stopped. There was like a month before then where I bought 1-2 packs total, and bummed cigarettes off a buddy at work almost every day, but about a month ago I had 4 days off (Friday-Monday). I ran out of cigarettes Wednesday night, and Thursday at work, my buddy was out, so I just decided to use that 5 days to stop. We would always smoke before lunch, and then hit the gym during lunch to workout, and on Tuesday I went outside with him before we went to workout, and just turned down the cig when he offered (since I had already went 5 days without smoking). He smoked, while I stood by and waited, and then when we worked out. While we were lifting, all that I could smell was tobacco smoke permeating from him, and that was the first time I realized how bad it stank ( besides once when some woman walked into my high school wresting practice and walked past the heater; worst smell ever). I haven't smoked since then. I accredit it to saying no that one time, when blatantly offered the opportunity. I haven't looked back, although I have had cravings. It isn't that hard to say no; I just haven't really wanted to until now.
I really did enjoy cigarettes, I just enjoy fitness more. I also first began smoking by rolling my own (to replace my joint rolling habit, since my job randomly drug tests), and started smoking regular cigarettes a while back because the store I normally go to stopped carrying Bugler. Since pre-rolled and filtered are not as good as hand rolled and filterless, it was also easier. I had already broken my addiction to rolling.

I didn't say anything about withdrawal.. did I?
No.. I said nicotine is far more ADDICTIVE than heroin... Reading comprehension FTW.
Yeah, withdrawal from opiates totally sucks and can be dangerous. But nicotine is more ADDICTIVE than heroin and easier to get hooked on it and is harder to quit.
So yeah, telling people to "just suck it up" and use willpower to quit smoking.. is kind of dumb. That doesn't work for everyone. Just like you can't just tell every heroin addict to suck it up and just quit with discipline. Granted, just quitting a heroin addiction in mid-addiction is more DANGEROUS than quitting smoking. That doesn't say anything about the addictive qualities.
