I tolerated vaping, but in no way did the vaping experience compare to having a smoke. It really became a hasstle to me and I think people who use them look like they are sucking on a baby soother all the time.
I decided I would rather just quit both completely and have the occasional cigar, maybe once a month. It worked for me.

My dad gave me an evod ecig last October. I have not had tobacco since that day! I upgraded to a nicer mod and tank and love it. I can toke on whatever flavor I choose, I no longer smell like an ash tray, I don't have to go outside to smoke, I have been able to taper my nicotine strength down considerably, its waaayyyy fucking cheaper and best of all I am not giving my money to big tobacco anymore!!
It's not for everyone but I believe vaping is helping save my life.
Give it a try!!

I will second, or third, or whatever it is by now the e-cig recommendation. Pen-style vapes work fine for me. I was a 3/4 to a pack a day smoker. I switched to vaping mostly, then after about six months of mostly vaping with a pack of cigarettes lasting me about a week, I finally quit cigarettes all together. I use an ego style variable voltage battery with a Kanger Evod2 clearomizer. It can be a bit tricky finding a combination of battery/tank/juice that works for you, but finding a flavor of e-juice that you like was, to me, the most difficult part.
I have no desire to turn vaping into a hobby in and of itself, so I wanted to keep things simple, meaning I wanted to stick with pen style vapes. I didn't want to be building my own coils, or carrying around some cigarette pack sized battery with an obtrusion in my pocket all the time. Ego-C Twist batteries coupled with Kanger Evod2 tanks work perfectly for me. I just have to be sure I have multiple batteries so when one drops below the acceptable threshold of vapor delivery I can recharge it and have another fully charged battery ready to go. The next challenge for me was finding a flavor I could vape all day, every day. That too proved challenging, but I happened upon one certain flavor that, when mixed with menthol, works most excellently for me. I've found only one other flavor I actually like, but for whatever reason, it tends to kill coils/atomizers very quickly, so I don't bother with it. I was a menthol cigarette smoker, so that probably explains why I prefer my e-juice mixed with menthol.

What's even worse is somehow me trying to quit is making me smoke more, because every time I think of not smoking anymore, it makes me want one and I light up. They make me feel shitty, they taste soo bad, I get shortness of breath, my chest hurts all the time, they leave shitty smells that I don't notice till later. I can't even smoke half of one without feeling shitty and throwing it away, yet still can't quit. I've read a lot of quitting smoking articles and all that fun stuff, but for those of you who have quit, what personally helped you the best or was it just strong will power which I seem to lack?
It's a decision. But it's a different decision then stopping. If you're honest with yourself deep down in your sub conscious when you decide to quit, you're really deciding to see how long you can stop. The decision to quit comes when you acknowledge how much you'll hate it and can decide to do it anyway.

Lots of flavors can crack poly tanks and destroy those coils with a quickness. Usually citrusy fruits. Many vendors will put a warning for ejuice that contains flavors that may harm tanks.
It's cool if you don't want to turn it into a hobby.. many of us do... but as long as the ecig gets you off the cigarettes, it's doing it's job and we are all winners.

I have managed to quit smoking pot, and drinking alcohol, the one thing I can't quit is cigs, the only time I have in 20 years, was if I got put in the hospital, or jail, but everytime, as soon as I got out, the first thing I did was light a smoke.
Smoking does not seem to be the in thing to do anymore, not like when I was growing up, the days of joe camel, and the marlboro man, fuck, u can't smoke inside hardly anywhere anymore, not even casinos around here

I thought it was a bath?
But seriously, get some patches or gum, load up on candies and things for that oral fixation. and get a script for Naltrexone.
Sure fire way to stop smoking. At least, it worked for me.
I had a $100 vaporizer that was nice, but I was vaping all day long and still smoking the occasional cigarette. So, that didn't work out the way I planned.

It's good, and old fashioned, but can always be aided by practical use of tips and tricks.
Why waste energy tempting yourself ...trying to prove how disciplined you are at overcoming one thing?... when you need all the discipline you have to overcome the millions of things begging you to stray every day. I get this same thing with internet 'addiction.'
"Why cant you just be disciplined?" "I can but prefer to use my self control for higher purposes."
