I really don't know how people quit cigs.

Every other day at the least I've been trying to quit for the last 6 months, the furthest I've made it was two days without one. What's even worse is somehow me trying to quit is making me smoke more, because every time I think of not smoking anymore, it makes me want one and I light up. They make me feel shitty, they taste soo bad, I get shortness of breath, my chest hurts all the time, they leave shitty smells that I don't notice till later. I can't even smoke half of one without feeling shitty and throwing it away, yet still can't quit. I've read a lot of quitting smoking articles and all that fun stuff, but for those of you who have quit, what personally helped you the best or was it just strong will power which I seem to lack?

To quit, you have to let go of any desire to smoke even one more cigarette, ever again.
CHANGE YOUR MIND.
Yes Smoke --> NO Smoke
Find that switch, flip it, and quitting will be easy.
The problem with quitting smoking is craving. If you truly kill your desire to smoke, you will not experience craving. Only still wanting to smoke can cause craving. Without craving, quitting is a nuisance.
Will power is NOT, I repeat NOT, rowing upstream against your desire. It means changing the polarity of your desire from YES to NO.

Get a good Ecig. I've tried to quit 20 or 30 times in my life and was never able to actually kick it until I got into ecigs.
You have to let the ecig work though. It's never going to be exactly the same as a cigarette, but with the right set up it can be satisfying enough to take the edge off. After a few days you'll be hooked to the ecig and won't even really want a cigarette anymore.
You do need some will power, but I'm not a person with an over abundance of it. If I can will myself to not smoke, I'm sure most people can as well.

They quit because they embrace the good lord, Jesus. Just embrace Jesus and you will magically be able to do anything. I was able to quit salvia because of Jesus (only for a few days). Still though, Jesus will help. Just trust him. If you don't trust him, just do salvia and trust Sally.

To Asante, It's actually funny the past like 2 months I would say, 80% of the time don't have any cravings, but I work with my dad and we're really close so we tend to argue often, and usually that's what sets off the cravings, it seems to be my emotions that cause it and if I get irritated or frustrated it is like a burning desire in me that feels like I just have to. If I can find better ways to keep calm I could probably do it like this.
To Shroomslip, I've tried them before, if anything I might give them a try again becuase I feel like they at least won't make me feel really bad like cigerattes seem to. I've had a rechargable one for sometime now but I ran out of the cartridges and never bought more, looks like I should haha.
To psychodelia, no.

If you mean like Blu or something, that's not gonna cut it. I mean at the least getting a good pen style vape, but there are much better systems than pen vapes. Using a disposable or Blu type ecig to quit real cigs is like trying to cure a broken leg with aspirin. It's just simply not going to cut it.

Start running (you can't be a runner and a cig smoker).
Switch to a different pack. You'll smoke them but not enjoy them and hopefully get the urge to toss the pack out.
The problem with cigarettes is every scenario makes for a good time to have one. Just woke up? Cig...Just ate? Cig. Bored? Cig. 10 minutes has passed since your last one? Cig. Every single moment is a great time for a cig! So it's either all or nothing. Just keep saying no to the urges and try exercising.

I smoked for 17 years. A pack to two packs a day. I quit and tried quitting like 10 different times, I always eventually went back to it.
I got an ecig and quit on the same day. I've been vaping for about 2 years now and smoking a cigarette absolutely disgusts me... I can't do it even if I wanted to. I lowered my nicotine level from 18mg down to 2mg, so now I'm barely even getting any nicotine
It's very important you start off with a decent device or you aren't going to be satisfied and you will go back to smoking cigarettes. The disposable ecigs and cig-a-likes you find at the gas station, that you throw away after one use or use "catridges" - fucking suck. Those are complete trash, produced by big tobacco companies.
Your health will thank you if you start vaping and it makes it the easiest way to quit possible. You still get some nicotine and you still get the delivery method (inhalation of a vapor), so you satisfy the mental and physical cravings, but you aren't sucking down carbon monoxide and burning tar and a mixture of 800+ harmful chemicals and known carcinogens.

I went with the patch recently. I dont know if I trust the steadyness of its delivery or the 24 hour time frame they give but its been working great for me. I dont get cravings while I got one on aside from the habitual ones. Even then those are pretty easy to walk away from. Its been 12 days so far and the cravings are getting less and less intense as time goes on, plus I dont gotta lug around a vape everywhere I go. On top of my phone, wallet and keys pocket real estate gets real tight in summer.

Quiting cigarettes is hard....after 7 years I quit cold turkey.....it was just a whole lot of me smokin a ton of weed and relentlessly battling my self...
But after a good two weeks that feel like ages of that relentless taunt of your temptations it will slowly fade into you saying shit like " I havnt smoked a cigarette in weeks....it feels great...."....and eventually youl just not concider them anymore. ....but it just is hard...not impossablle....
You just got to over power the part of you that makes you want to smoke.....start by throwing away all the cigarettes you have.....then if I were you id get super high and passout.......get some hours of not smoking under your belt....then wake up....get high....and try to stay buisy and focused on other stuff.

I just remind myself how much better I am when I don't smoke. U need to get to that level of sobriety where it triumphs over every other high known to man. This will be like ur anchor to get off of any drugs. Because we truly feel a lot better when we are sober, we feel stronger, healthier, happier, all of the above. Some people have too big of egos tho and those people actually need weed or something to chill out cuz they are just hurting peeps with their egos but they don't see it cuz of their big egos..
But if u don't really have much of ego issue then you'll do just fine being sober. Being sober is the shit!

And also, trust me op, run like a mile or two without stopping, I guarantee the last thing on ur Mind will be a cig, first thing will be water and ur health, for several days even weeks.
Running is the key to all addictions me thinks.

Chewing a shit load of gum helped my friends. Load up on some really tasty hubba bubba, or trident layers. This helps the oral fixation and might slightly help take your mind off of cigs

forget those shitty e cigs that take cartridges
get something like this:
http://www.myvaporstore.com/Kangertech-SUBOX-Mini-Starter-Kit-Black-p/krsbk1.htm
Since getting a real e cig I have had zero desire to smoke cigs ... quitting was effortless
I'm addicted to my e cig now but I have cut my nicotine intake to a fraction what it is and am not inhaling carcinogens

Just chiming in for ecigs as well.
Only thing after 12 years, pack+ a day that made me quit. Effortlessly at that. I haven't had an urge for a cigarette since the day I picked up my first proper ecig.
The new subbox kit you posted seems like the perfect starter kit (until next week when a whole new line of mods and tanks come out lol). It's what I would get as well if I just wanted to start vaping tomorrow using a quality product.

That is a good starter kit. This shit has come a long fucking way in just a couple years. When I started the best "starter kits" you could find were like ego twists with protanks.

I did vaping and quit that way.
I think cigs taste absolutely delicious tho. Every once in a while I'll get a cheap cigar. I think vaping absolutely sucks because you have to hit the thing all the time and after a while it is better just to ween off it completely.
