Oh yeah and of course wrap the box in aluminium foil so it only gets light from the upside

it doesn't matter where the light hits.

temperature doesn't cause Azurs to fruit plenty of indoor grows have been tried in fridges and other temperature controlled methods with 0 results or one or two fruits. soil microbes and symbiotic relationships are required for the fruiting as far as most people are concerned.

Aren't azures similar to Ps cyan? 'Cause I've fruited cyans on wood chips in a converted fridge with no problems.  Slow as shit, but that goes with the territory.

How did you modify the fridge? How was the result?

Oh, another question, has anyone yet used bark mulch as top layer? I saw this in a pdf, describing how to lay a mushroom bed (Azurescens) in the garden.

I put a light in it and maybe jiggered the thermostat so I could get it to the temp I wanted.  It was in the garage when we moved in so I'm not sure how well it was working before that.

This was on cased wood chips, BTW, but nothing special about it at all except the temps.

Well, seems like this is really going fast  Already three spots where I can see the mycelium.
Next Update will be in a few days, when you see some more, than those little spots.

I also have a container here, with 3/4 complete mycelium.
Today I saw some contaminations at the corners, so I cut off the contaminations, chopped the rest of the mycelium to pieces and refilled the box with woodchips / sawdust.
After that, I filled another Box with perlite and used some single (clean) inoculated wood chips I cut off before. But for the top layer I used some bark mulch out of the garden. I will post some pictures, when it gets interesting.
I'm primary interested, if bark mulch is maybe the better top layer, since some manuals for a wood based mushroom bed recommend it, so lets see whats happening

Even my first outdoor flush of azures and cyans wasn't established enough so it was a weak flush definitely require some extra goodies from outdoors! :mushroom2:

Well, I'm really looking forward to see what will happen in my incubator
If nothing happens, I guess I'll put the mycelium into the fridge until fall and then place it outside.

But from what I saw, one of the main differences to most indoor Azu grows is, that I not only have control over the temperature, but also a permanent air exchange, because compared to a normal fridge the incubator isn't a closed system and has a vent on the backside.

So I guess, I will try different casing layers until it works and if not ... it's going into the fridge.
