Hunter S. Thompson's House to Become Museum

I recently found out that Anita Thompson is planning on turning Owl Farm into a museum (essentially leaving it exactly the way it looks now and opening it to the public).
I will definitely be taking a road trip to Aspen (woody creek) for the grand opening.

What an awesome trip to take to trip at Thompson's residence tripping with his trippy soul.

Go trip!

Yea, I think I'd feel a lot of remorse if I didn't indulge in poly-psychoactive-substance abuse while on his property.
Shit, it should be mandatory to snort a mysterious white powder while buying your tickets for the museum tour.

We could play shotgun golf or whatever the sport was he made up. I wonder if he still has his weed plants out there. Iirc i saw a documentary bit where you could see weed growing at his house in the background.
Now this thread has me wanting to watch where the buffalo roam. I burnt out on fear and loathing a while back, and am in the mood for some bill murray.

It's Colorado. There's gotta be at least one little bud plant in the vicinity of his house.
Don't shatter my dreams dude.

Statistically (and most likely legally because its colorado) im pretty sure he HAS to have a plant growing out there. Who the fuck doesn't? And if you don't than you need to just move to another state.

People will probably try to steal his shit. I very much dislike the fanboyism about HST and the focus on the drug use. He was a genius but crippled by his excessive drug use.

That's a really ninnyish perspective to take on it though. He wasn't "crippled" by his drug use. His no fucks given lifestyle and his writing were inseperable. If he had quit the drugs/booze and settled down to write poetry in his later years I very much doubt he'd be looked at with the same admiration today.

That's stupid. That was this man's house. People should respect his shit and keep it in the family as a private residence. Open a hst museum in any random building, but don't destroy the man's house and convert it into a business that's fucked up

Oh, have you really read his biographies and later work? You seem very up-to-date. By the end he grudgingly admitted drugs had fucked him up and that he was a junkie. It was his business, but at the end he told fanboys like you to take it easy on the drugs and not to "emulate" someone who had a good run. In the end he was crippled to a fucking wheelchair and his drug abuse caught up with him. That and his persona made life incredebly uncomfortable for him. The drug fiend legend became a weight around his neck. You are not honoring his memory by adoring a false god!!!!!11

you're the only one calling him a genious and a god...
he was an interesting guy. thats it. and thats why people like him.
theres nothing wrong with his family making a tribute museum for his fans to see. its his widows property and he isnt around anymore. so i doubt he gives two fucks.

sorry, but I find this completely lame. Knowing Hunter's personality, he definitely wouldn't want this. I hate when greedy families try to cash in on peoples name after a death.

What do you mean by "knowing his personality"?
As in you think you know what he's like because you've studied his work extensively, or you've sat down and ate a grapefruit with him?
If it's the former, I don't think you nor anyone else is in the position to assume what he would of wanted.
I see it as the guy is dead. Most people here including myself find him very interesting due to his work and drug use when he was still alive. So if his widowed wife wants to pay tribute to him by opening a museum, even if she's doing it solely for money, it's benefiting both her and people that were/are admirers of HST. I don't see a problem.

I'm not adoring anyone you slut. My point still stands, Hunter would have been nothing without the drugs and booze and sex dolls.
