    #2176937 - 12/14/03 03:53 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

this cactus was bought at a lowes in licking county/newark ohio where the famous octagon mounds from hopewellian natives dwelled.

looks like T. pachanoi to me, but i'd have to see better pics to tell you with any certainty.

take pictures with the light6 source facing the front of the cactus. in your pics, iunclude a better picture showing the profuile of one of the ribs so i can see the areolae and spines in detail. take another showing the growth cap and profile from the top [bird's eye view].

that sounds just asd likely. we'll see if he gets said pictures, i can't even tell the angle of the spines in that pic, nor the texture or true color.

what kept me optimistic that it may be a trich is the plumpnes of the rib edges, though that may be a trick of the image.

It's a Pach. They sell them. They have both Mrytillos and Pachanois there and they look very similar except for color, but mrytillos get a bit less blue during the winter. You'll know after a year or two because mrytillos branch out like Saguaros while Pedros make columns.

It's a myrtillo, simple because of the aereole.... The color number and aiming of the spines, and the lack of fluff in the aereole itself..

Agreed, although at first glance I thought Echinocereus, but the colour swung it.
