Help me Choose Mini-Bulk ADDITIVES
    #21769364 - 06/06/15 08:19 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Ok guys help me out here soon, in about half hour Im going to start pasteurizing.

I have a 1 pound bag of 100% colonized Popcorn grain, im going to do 2 seperate minitubs.
I want to do 1 regular, spawn to coco coir (pasteurized).

But the second one I want to add some shit in there, be a little experimental.
I will mix it in with the coco coir before I pasteurize.
Heres the list I am considering, please give me some input!
:
1: Chia Seeds
2: Stevia Leafs (cut and sifted)(dry)
3: Wild Dagga flower petals (dry)
4: Blue lotus Flowers (dry)

I have a shit ton of Wild Dagga, anyone know if this would work good as an additive?

Coir, vermiculite, and gypsum.

Although Ive always wanted to add stevia leaves myself...

Do not add the chia seeds, they make a weird gelatin, that will contam Id bet.

I doubt any of those things is going to provide any real benefits. Mushrooms primarily need cellulose provided by your grain and the coir. Straw and manure are good sources as well that also have the benefit of extra nitrogen. Mushrooms like nitrogen in smaller amounts. Worm castings or chicken manure or coffee is a good source for extra nitrogen. They need to be used in small amounts of less than 10% or the sub will be too hot. Some trace minerals are provided by things like verm and gypsum.

Bulk subs are mostly for water retention. Its why the main bulk ingredients like coir verm and manure are used. If they add nutes its simply more of a bonus than anything.

Unless your running a side by side with a stable clone or isolate your results at best will be inconclusive.

only thing  i would add is gypsum.

if you want be experimental or extra nutes wormcasts.
tried insect frass too with no probs and poop from alfalfa fed horses all the time.

dont think/know if it helped anything however
like pasty said unless your testing proper you will never know if was genetics or the sub.

i just liked the idea of the balance of nitrogen ect in insect frass and also the chitin, protein ,amino acids  that come with it!

+ in manure i guess there will be some amount of natural insect frass so i concidered it worth a try.

might give it another go oneday but properly to gauge the effects

whatever you choose goodluck

interested in seeing the stevia as myc uses sugars for energy and it maybe speed colonisation or something!
