Question on speeding up slow or ceased growth grafts

Hey guys I recently posted a pic of a loph graft that completely stopped growing whatsoever. Here's the pic.

Well after looking at it for so long with no growth I decided to yank the plant breaking a lot of the roots connected to the peres. I then planted the same plant into the same container but a lot deeper. After watching it grow for awhile I've noticed resumed growth "finally" and it's been speeding up ALOT as well.
I'll snap another pic tomorrow for you guys to look at. It's easy to see the growth especially since I used a sharpie mark in the very center.
Has anyone ever done this before with similar results. I thought this would be good to post to hopefully encourage others in the same position to give it a shot and to document their results to see if this might just have been a fluke or if this could be a fix for stopped scion growth.

I've done it a few times when the pereskiopsis has failed. Usually because of rot. It works quite well, but the ones I've had to replant didn't grow as well as the my healthier grafts that didn't need to be replanted. The one on the left in this photo was replanted leaving just a tiny bit of pereskiopsis exposed above the soil line. The plant on the right has always been on it's own roots, but is twice as old.

This one was planted with zero pereskiopsis exposed. Just plopped it this solo cup haphazardly after it fell over. It's doing alright I suppose.

This last graft was left out in the rain for two months getting soaked just about every day. The leaves have fallen off the pereskiopsis and hasn't showed any new growth since spring. I'll probably end up doing what you did and just chop it and replant deeper into some fresh soil.

Yea, pereskiopsis stalls. It happens at different times though. Some will be great stocks for years, and others fail and die.
I am increasing my stock at the moment, but I want to make a thousand new grafts. Im at 5 so far.
