drying and storage Questions

Hey all, im starting my first flush tomorrow(they are being dunked as I type this and will be done in a few short hours)and I am going to go for as many flushes as I can get, hopefully at least 3(BRF cakes).
Now, ive searched over the site and cannot find a good well structured post regarding drying and storage of freshly harvested mushies. Last time, when I picked them, I just blew a fan on them for a day and they got pretty dry, but not cracker dry. What im looking for is a way to dry them and be able to store them for, lets say, 3-6 months.
Please, if you can, give me your method(I DO NOT HAVE A FOOD DEHYDRATOR) that is simple and cost effective. I really do appreciate it, as I do not want them to go bad before I have the chance to use them.
Thanks, FT
P.S.
I am looking for info on MONOTUBS, a simple, well explained guide on making one and the process of innoc. them, etc.
Also, If someone could link me to a good post or good info on making a spore print AND LC syringe, ive looked into cloning but seeing as this is my first go around I think ill give that a try down the line.
Again, thank you for taking the time to read this, I appreciate the help...now go and

I would skip the LC and probably just order a few syringes from the hawks eye one 10 ml syringe will inoculate around 15 1 lb bags of rye.

OP, you're asking about drying, monotubs, spore prints, LC, and cloning in the same thread?!?
use the search engine. all of those topics are covered every week: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/search.php choose the "mushroom cultivation" forum, keyword "tek" in subject, posts by "trusted cultivators", and "main threads". browse through that list and you'll probably find really good threads on all of those topics you want.

If it still matters, I find that a box fan and a screen mesh for windows work sufficiently in place of a food dehydrator, and you very well may have those two things in your home. IME, at perhaps a week or so shorter than three months, fan drying until hard and then placed in a jar for that long did not pose any issues with molding, but I'm sure this will depend on climate as well (not in a particularly dry area myself).
damprid, or any desiccant, is definitely worth it tho
No new info at all, but face the fan towards the floor and elevate it enough so sufficient air flow is possible, at least half a foot or so, at lowest setting. Place the screen on top (not even necessary, just saves a mess from your verm or cake), then leave shrooms on top. During prolonged "flushes" I usually just keep a fan sitting on a pair of dumbbells on for a week or so. IME I see no further drying after two days when they are hard and nearly cracker dry (e.g. some of the fatter ones did not make the cut for longer-term storage lol)
hope some of that helps, but again, nothing new whatsoever

ive been reading about dessicants, and ive seen some threads about putting the mushies in a airtight box with the desiccant all the way at the bottom and a layer between the mushies and the dess.
so:| | | *LAYER* | | desiccant |
that about right?
also, any ideas on containers for drying this way?
@first response dude, those syringes from hawkseye are specifically for mycological research purposes, and using them to inoculate grain bags to grow mushies is strictly illegal, and I would never EVER think about doing that......yea...

Damp rid is great but you will taste it if/when you eat the mushies. Oh, and don't try to bake it and reuse it when it loses its effectiveness. Just buy more.

Yeah you can find it at some dollar stores for a buck for a decent sized container, but the best way IMO is get a dehydrator, i got a simple one for like 20, doesnt havr a fan or anything just a simple heat coil nd thatll dry a pretty large amount overnight. -Kushroom

Dehydrator and decent PC are the best investments you can make. Huge time savers. I got a digital dehydrator for $80. I can adjust the heat in 5 degree increments and set the time and forget about it. 6-7hrs @ 110 degrees F does the magic. Runs almost every day. Desiccant can take a few days sometimes after fan drying and I lost patience with it.

You have a dehydrator. Set your oven on its lowest setting, put them in there on a tray, leave the oven door partly open.
