What is appealing about other species?

I get that some people are genuine mycologists with an interest in growing and studying different species of the Psilocybe genus. What are some reasons that the general user would grow something other than cubensis? I get that potency is a possible reason, but it seems negligible because I don't see a problem with just simply eating more cubes. Is it really that much of a difference? Are some better suited or more economical for different growing teks/methods? Please help me to understand.

From everything I've read, the only difference is preference. Some people will say different species have different trips, others say psilocybin is psilocybin. If you're just after having shrooms and don't really care about the cultivation process and everything behind it, Cubensis is the way to go. It's the easiest, and there's more cultivation info on it than any other active.
Actually, sclerotia are probably the easiest to grow, but people like actual fruits.

Oysters: Converts inedible waste into a food source. Potentially consumes petroleum waste.
King Stroph: Cleans harmful waste from the soil.
Turkey Tails: Cancer treatment.
Ganoderma's: Cancer treatment and overall health improvement.
Hercium's: Wait, mushrooms that taste like seafood?

Cause the fuck I can!
Potency is a reason, but most people grow exotics cause they want to. For grams of psilocybin out per dollar in, Cubensis is the way to go. For fun, and not having to eat a quarter, and just for pure dicksizing, exotics are awesome.
Grow a tub of ATL fruits and go hand them out at a festival and watch peoples' reactions.

Yep, I totally understand the non-psilocybe ones, but I am just asking about psilocybe genus!

Probably partly that if they're a more potent exotic you wont have to consume quite as many fruits overall.
