Hmmm. Let's see.... which is scarier:
A. Someone who thinks nothing of torturing anyone he likes whenever he likes for whatever reason he wishes?
B. People who do not?

Let me mull this over for awhi....never mind. I decided already.

Which is Which? Are you saying that the united states doesnt have a history of torture? You act as if we havent killed millions of people for our own selfish purposes...What makes you think that the Iraqi people are going to share your view? I think that the people of Iraq had a government that was oppressive, yes...But no more oppressive than ours...

I made no assertion hence the word "probably".

Now as I said, I used the word probably. You however used nothing of the sort when you said this....

"There are alot of Iraqis who would rather see the stability of Saddam's government than the chaos of the occupying Coalition Forces."

Please be so kind as to:
A. Define a "lot".
B. Back it up with some stats.

Frankly though, after the way the first Bush left the Iraqis
to sink or swim, I'd be amazed if the majority of the Iraqis weren't concerned we'd do the same again.

Actually, don't trouble yourself. My feeling is your hatred of Bush will forever cloud your judgement as to whether the Iraqis feel safer or not.

I was going to answer your post with a simple....
My, aren't you a funny lil' fella. Why? Because that was all the response it deserved.

Up until this point...
"You act as if we havent killed millions of people for our own selfish purposes"

So, we have or had mass graves filled with people that after pissing off the powers that be, then tortured and killed these "millions" of people?

Here is the kindest reply I can muster for you....

Yes, there are Iraqis who do "feel safer" now that Saddam is gone, the man was a dictator in every sense of the word - in fact when it was being announced several Iraqi reporters got highly emotional and started shouting. My original point was that making statements along the lines of "The Iraqis will sleep better now" (alog the lines, mind you) are propagandist - in fact, it's feeding off the age-old rivalry between Iraqi Shias and Sunnis.

Of course, U.S. occupation is the "better of choices",

Don't be nescient, luv. Not everything leans right, of course you're too benighted to see that.  :heartpump:

You are so ignorant to the facts. How many people died as a result of our atomic bombs in Japan? I suppose all of those were combatants...Never mind that Japan tried to surrender a month before we dropped the bombs...

How many people in vietnam, korea, somalia, afghanistan, panama, nicaragua, iraq, etc...etc...etc.... have to die for you to get the picture?

We have been killing and stealing from people since this country was founded...from the time we committed our first genocide against the american indian until now. I understand your desire, and indeed your need, to feel like you are on the "good" team...but unfortunately the facts do not support that.

The rest of the world knows this, too...The sight of an american soldier is pretty scary to most of the world.

I was once an American soldier and if the people of Bosnia are any indicator of all that great fear then it is strange that for the most part they welcomed us with open arms and smiles. I'm not talking about official stances or polite gestures but rather genuine intent. I did alot of driving for public afairs officers and while they were in meetings with town officials I spent a lot of time just standind out by the trucks waiting. People often came up to me and offered thanks for our American presence. I also made friends with a Serbian family and spent a nice evening at their home talking and eating(although I was not allowed to by our government).

Sad though that your desire to find ill in good news blinds you so.

Try reading it again after wiping the hatred from your eyes. I made no such statement.

What I did say was "I bet", hence not a statement but a supposition. Any good dictionary will teach you the difference between the two.

You know whats funny? You ( the general you) are so worked up when the US does what they say they will do, that you're blind to the good. I can't wait to see all of your reactions when Osama is either caught, killed, or shown to have been dead for awhile. Now that will be a laugh riot.

No...I just don't see the good in invading another country. I don't see the overall good in the entire act. Actually capturing Saddam is just another part of what I consider an inappropriate action. Why would I celebrate that?

Perhaps because there is now no chance he will continue killing the people of Iraq at the rate he was doing so before? Perhaps because the people of Iraq no longer need to fear Saddam having them beaten, tortured and raped?

Being as "concerned" for peoples lives as you seem to wish us to believe, I'd think that would be reason enough.

Or do you only feel concern for those "millions" the US supposedly killed?

Well, truth be told, I believe that if the country hated him so much, he could not have stayed in power for that long...period. History has shown us time and time again that the people of a nation will only take so much for so long before they will rise up. Saddam was responsible for killing many people, true...But it must have been alright with the people...just as it must be alright with the american citizens if we trample over the rest of the world so that they can have better lifestyles...

I never said you made that statement, I was talking about your run-of-the-mill conservative who feels that way (and notice I added 'along the lines of' to loosely show the sentiment). America isn't evil, but the "better of choices" sure is.

You guys amuse me when you use that.

After all, if voting for the better of your choices cause you such heartburn, I'm guessing you vote for the worse of your choices.

What's up with that?

Don't turn into another Mr_Mushrooms here.

I vote liberal - here in Canada at least, I found Chr?tien to be great, personally, and I'm hoping Paul Martin is better. One thing that is certain is that the better of choices have been elected here since November 3rd, 1993.

Many should be more like him.

So let's see then. In your case you feel that you, after thinking, reading and learning about the person you feel is the best choice, and then voting for that person, did what you felt was right.

Yet when someone else does the same you feel the need to use it as a jab?

Now that is funny.

No, people need to be mature in their conduct. It's common sense.

The real joke is when people believe that the worst of choices is the better.
