Peat vs verm as substrate -- help a noob out

Hi guys! Sorry if this is well-known or often discussed. I don't hang in the actives forum much and the search function is so frustrating. i can't seem to find what i'm looking for....
So, i've read several monotub teks calling for coco coir and verm as substrate. is it okay to replace the coco with peat? What is the difference?

i dont want a peat AND coco substrate. i want to know the difference between peat and coco when used as bulk substrate. i'm not new to the shroomery. the search function does suck, imo. i can never find what i'm looking for. if you don't have something constructive to say, bug off.
chevydriver, you linked me back to my own thread, lol!

i find it ironic that 2 people with less than 25 posts are telling you to use the search engine
there's nothing wrong with learning
i'm no expert on peat or coir but from what I understand, peat has less nutes than coir, so it wouldn't be a great substrate.

Its also acidic and would need a buffer.

cool, thanks guys. it looks and feels like the same consistency so i thought it might work the same. i have some peat handy but i'll have to go to the store to get coir. i think i'll just stick to the instructions for my first tray tek then experiment from there

Coir is used for a substrate. Peat is used in casing layers. Search function is used to find answers. Spoons are used to feed.

poor knomadic_niki. he's gotten nothing but bullshit and sarcasm in this thread, even by highly educated people who are more than capable of answering his question

That's what happens when you ask a question that's been asked a million times and don't want to search past the first page of results.
But the question was answered.

i'm a she, and even if a question has been asked a million times, i still take the time to help people out over in the edibles forum. no need to be a dildo. thanks to those who answered my question. i appreciate it. i'm in school, working, farming, and starting a business and i don't have time to search the forum for hours looking for the answer to a simple question right now

So....if you're on a one way street with 2 lanes and you're in the right lane and you realize you need to turn left, you just cut over? Fuck the other people? They should yield to you?

Well if you don't have time to put in the effort which is to learn either by experience or by research, maybe this hobby isn't for you then.

I don't know much in terms of cultivation, but I do know that the Peat is often used in a casing with verm and buffers(Lime/Calcium Carbonate, etc.) as well. I don't think it would work as a substrate, but it could work great in a mix cased on top of a fully colonized substrate(I used simple BRF/Verm cakes) I dunno if this was of any help, but it is my 2cents (currently been watching my first 50/50 casing work its way to fruits)and I hope it helped a bit and wasn't completely useless to yourself or others.
