Queen can move on the x+y axis or x and/or z axis or y and/or z axis or x+y+z axis

Imagine a cube of 8 levels corresponding to the 8 spaces wide on a chess board. The position on the lowest level on the right (where the White Castle is in 2D chess) is 1x,1y,1z (1,1,1). The White Castle position on the left in the lowest level is 8x,1y,1z (8,1,1).

Position notation is always relative to the White King's Castle position on the 1st level.

Imagine a game starting on the 4th level up (4z) with the White Queen at 5x,1y,4z (4,1,4) and the Black Queen at 5x,8y,4z (5,8,4) or 584.

I'm Black;

Your move.

How do knights move? 2 steps along the x,y or z axis and one step perpendicular to that axis?

Yes.

We can add a 4th dimensional twist where pieces disappear only to return at the players discretion. This way they wouldn't clutter the board while simultaneously guarding their respective places. They could reappear and claim an opponent occupying their space (counting as one move) or they could reappear and then move.

A piece disappearing counts as one move.

Kings can't access the 4th dimension.

Or you could make the board continuous, moving off an axis and reappearing on the other side. Like in a video game. Anyways, I like the idea, but there is no way I could do this without visual aid.

And checkmating becomes so much harder with the king being able to move in 14 directions...

Yeah, graphic backup indicating the IED's posed by hidden pawns and the ley lines of the oppositional forces would help, along with checking the accuracy of notation and prospective moves.

I can see this as an attraction at secondlife.com
