how to deal with social anxiety?

i have mild social anxiety. i can see my self improving in some area's but not so much in others, like when i am in public, i constantly feel like people are watching and judging me so i prevent myself from doing or saying things that attract attention or make me look different, even though i know people probably dont care. My face will go red if attentions brought on to me or even if i believe the spotlight is aimed towards me( when it isn't). i can hear the demons in my head telling me that everyone is looking at me and they think i am a loser.
i know for a fact that this is linked with my self confidence because i will only have these thoughts when i test myself, i am perfectly fine at speeches (when given time to prepare) and conversing with people.
what are some methods to deal with this and gain more self confidence? does anyone with experience dare to share their experiences

1. dont deal with it, thinking about it makes it worse 2. accept yourself - you dont have to look like others, you dont have to be pretty, you dont have to wear the clothes other do - you can be happy in any type of clothes

hey dear friend,
focus your energy on healing, on strength, on peace - you will get there, will get everything aspire for.
it simply takes time; have patience; as Emerson says, adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.
those feelings are biochemical in nature; simply one way of looking at it -
self-confidence is one thing, self-faith and self-trust are another way of looking at it;
self-faith and trust are pretty much the most important things, once you've got them, any endeavor comes a lot easier.
spend a while in reflection each day, go for walks in nature if you can, these are ideal environments in which to be your natural self;
spending a while in nature is wonderful because it so uplifting, strengthening, healing, rejuvenating - and relaxing - brings great vitality, energy, good health and peace,
there's a saying in zen, 'go up on the mountain, but then come back down,'
one interesting thought from the depths of literature (heh, heh) is to be as though alone while with others, and to be as though with others while alone. . .
also from zen i believe,
not all that important, just a random idea.
1 thing is - we need calm leaders, so understand you are a leader; you are a creator in society, you create your life, and you affect all those around you;
i much prefer to share immunity from persuasion than to tell people to keep trying to persuade others
because there's no intrinsic value in coercion!

don't worry about a thing, and work for your ideals; step by step all beauty will unfold naturally.
peace and joy to you, dear friend
society has various false views, for instance that coercion is a skill to be praised in itself (persuasion, charm, etc)
the whole system can be deconstructed and seen where the flaws exist and cause decay. . .
anyway - none of that is to worry about; simply walk forward in peace and create new beauty, new understanding, and lasting peace in the world.
all the best again
take care

Just don't think about anybody else or what they could be thinking. The vast majority of people are here, being alive, just getting on with what they have to do.
Don't be scared of anything. People's opinions about you are mainly worthless. When you accept that you HAVE to enter social situations, just be yourself. Don't be scared of yourself. If you seem funny to people then don't be around those people for too long. Being aware of your confidence to accept yourself (no matter how small or big it may be), then the right people will come aloong and make it easier.
Honestly man, forget the stress and start making small talk and smile at people.

Such a bad idea. This might be for some but I have to advise against any prescribed meds. Use doctors as a last resort. It's a long bad road to be on
and like said the withdraws are brutal!!

It doesn't matter if others accept you
the only thing that matters is that you accept yourself

I'm a real materialist when it comes to anxiety. Your brain has some minor damage in a certain area of itself probably from stress causing too much cortisol to be in the blood. There are foods you can eat that they say help nervous system regeneration, also it is thought some antidepressants work by regenerating this part of the brain, which then gives that AD its anti-anxiety properties.
Magic mushrooms speed up brain regeneration globally, you can Google that.

Don't do benzos to cover up anxiety symptoms, GABA addictions are THE worse. get to the root of your anxiety. WHY do you feel the anxiety? WHY is it so bad? i suffered from severe, life debilitating anxiety from age 11 to 23~. it turns out this came from minor schizophrenia (until I did drugs that made it 10 times worse) i was put on anti-psychotics and benzos. I used lorazepam daily for over a year. eventually, i found an anti-psychotic worked and was put on diazepam. skipping alot of detail over my life, i am finally stable (albeit an opiate addiction) and i rarely need benzos anymore. i still get panic attacks and bouts of anxiety but i stay calm, realise i have nothing to worry about and it subsides. now, anxiety doesn't scare me. you just need to realise its a part of life and ride along the ride that life is.
good luck, you can defintely get better if you try.

This pretty much lines up with my personal experiences.
I grew up in a chaotic environment. Alcoholic father abused my mom and half-brother. After the divorce my father won custody and transferred the abuse to myself. He also tried to use me to continue the fight with my mom for leaving him. Life was scary and stressful. I believe my brain adapted to this stress and coped with it the best it could, by always expecting stress.
Fast forward to thirty years later. I'm in therapy, taking an SSRI (Lexapro), and still taking psychedelics (just mushrooms right now). I still have anxiety but it's become a lot more manageable.
I don't know that SSRIs are right for everyone. I imagine the medicine that works best for depends a lot on how you're wired. I've always liked serotonin based drugs. MDMA, LSD, etc. etc. Once I got over big pharma == the devil and gave it a try I was really happy with the decision.
