Growing Truffles

Who here has grown truffles? Ate truffles? It seems like not many people grow them but it looks so easy. What gives? People are too impatient to wait whatever extra time it takes to grow them? They even seem more fool-proof as you pretty much just go through the first two steps of the normal mushroom cultivating process. Let me know what you think of truffles; growing, eating, tripping

I think its a great thing to grow. They take longer than mushroom fruits and they lack the aesthetics of fruits.
They are easy but still require you to have the skills to produce clean spawn, which isnt always so easy

I've never had any issue with sterile conditions so hopefully it will follow me into this if I do it

Stones are the EASIEST form to psilocybin. No fruiting requirement. And damn near a minimum 1 ounce per quart jar. Stones can be harvested as early as 1 month old, but benefit from age. As said, requires pressure cooker and proper grain prep

Stone's are great. Not as hands on which is another reason you don't see it in the noob section I'm guessing. Budding mycologists want to be hands on, personally seeing through every step of the grow. Check out Violet's main page. She's a big advocate of truffles and details some nice teks if you're looking for info.

Exactly. They are super easy and good for stealth grows. I like to have some going while other things are in the works. Spawning to sub and dialing in a monotub is a lot of fun though - and you miss out on that with stones.
But you can have fun with agar and isolating! That's my favorite part.

I agree. Agar is my favorite part of this hobby too. Aside from harvest obviously lol

Are they supposed to be more flavorful? I hear they're less potent. I wouldn't mind trying to create some golden teacher stones; What do you think the success rate would be? I didn't see any topics about GT stones. Also, shiitake truffles? Are those a thing?

Lol no and no. Only certain species make stones not strains of Psilocybe cubensis (which is a species).
Stone producers are: Psilocybe Mexicana, Psilocybe Galindoi, Psilocybe Tampanensis, etc.
Edible truffles are out there and some cost hundreds of dollars per truffle in high quality restaurants because they're that rare.

Yeah, I hear white truffles require the roots of a certain type of tree, but it's been a while since I've looked into it. Lucky I didn't waste the time trying to make GT stones then xD

Stones really aren't that much less potent. They're a great thing to have going while your cultivating cubes or other fungi.
They aren't that popular for whatever reason, and the prints can be hard to come by sometimes. I think that's the only reason people don't get into them that much, and a good amount of people just want drugs fast.
I enjoy the trip from stones a lot. Here's some recent pics.

Those came from a tub that showed some green so I just harvested the stones. I was going for fruits to print. They were in CVG, but I won't use Verm again with stones. I can't stand munching down on Verm. It makes me gag like I bit into an eggshell.

LOL yeah definitely don't use verm. Who would want vermy teeth. Does the coir get in the stones? They look really clean in the pic.

A couple hairs from the coir get stuck in some of the stones, but I didn't notice them when eating them. I started to brush them with a toothbrush, but got bored so I just put them in a bowl with water and shook. I replaced the water, and repeated until the water poured off clean.

Yeah man, I'd love to give them a shot one day; They're non-existent in my area to my knowledge. Same reason I'm going my own cubes. Which without your kindness wouldn't even be a reality at the moment. Should be fully colonized in about a week. Looks pretty health so far.

They really started growing fast when spawned to bulk. They started breaking through the surface of the substrate.

That GT will fruit nicely. It's been very good to me.

Stones are more potent than regular cubes because they have a smaller water content, thus more psychoactives. Once dry they're less potent than cubes, not sure by how much though

Supposed to be 2/3 the potency dry, but the trip is worth the wait imo.

Is there any any difference in the trip since this is a different species? Or genus? Subclass? Not sure what you call jt
