Just started downloading it.
Going to give the graphics overhaul another try as I am not the most computer savvy, even if I can't get it to work I am stoked though. I love this game
I was playing some other RPG type games and got the craving super hard

morrowind is so awesome. i actualy think it had far better/more extensive content than oblivion and skyrim, even though the last 2 had better graphics and way better menu/skill systems and other things
theres just something about morrowind. there are all these little superweapons/armor hidden away, and there is no quest to get them, no arrow pointing to them, etc. you just ran across it. i played morrowind twice as long as oblivion and skyrim combined. a solid 400 hrs.(nolifer)
i restarted morrowind last year with a few graphics mods, and they were pretty easy to install, even with windows 8.1. the hardest part was finding a good balance on the View Distance mod. i could see Vivec from Seyda Neen, but it slowed my computer down to like 10fps, even though its pretty modern. had to compromise only seeing half way to Vivec
mods in general for any bethesda game, morrowind and afterwards are simple installations

What a good game indeed, such a classic. I am going to plan out a night where I just fully immerse myself in it.

Morrowind was special because it was truly a fantasy environment to me. Mushroom houses, weird middle eastern type dwellings, some medievleque towns for contrast.
Oblivion and Skyrim, despite being fuckin gorgeous, were just dumbed down european cities. Oblivion is england and Skyrim is Scandinavia. I've been to places IRL way cooler looking than any town in Skyrim, except for maybe the city of Solitude. The next game in the series, I think really needs to bring it back to its roots and have architecture that is more uncommon and more inspired from architectural oddities like Gaudi and Gehry.

Rumor has it the next game will be set in the black marsh I believe. So shit will be all argonian and swampy and shit. I can't remember what their area looked like in ESO but that will give you a good idea what future TES games will look like architechure wise, since the base lore has been set for a long long time.

That'd be cool The base lore I believe is just their D and D campaign.

I just meant that all the main countries and races origins and stuff have been designed and laid out, so if you ever play elder scrolls online you can go to any of those lands and see what bethesda's idea is for the arch for that race. Thats why Skyrim and oblivion were sort of generic/boring on that front, as they happened to be taking place in a land that is a lot more like we actually have here on earth, instead of some crazy mystical giant mushroom forest land.
Skyrim and the nords are obviously nordic/viking based. Cyrodil and the empire are TES's version of generic human medieval style.
I also think that some of the art choices were picked to go a certain way with technical limitations in mind. Oblivion was pushing a lot of big boundries for them with the size and scope of the world.
I personally hope whatever their next TES game is that comes out, it actually takes place in more then just one country with one land type. That was a major draw for me with TESO was finally getting able to see what hammerfall looked like or elswyr, I was a little dissapointed as I was expected there to be more extreme lands int he design, like morrowind is, and while the landscape is nicely done, they def went with more 'realistic' approach in most of the countries and not nearly as fantasy as I expected for some of them. Hopefully that gets more dramatic in future games.

Oh but back to morrowind. Seriously for anyone who is a fan you really need to look into Skywind. I beleieve they also started a recreation of oblivion as well. Skyblivion or something.
I wish more past RPGs that were epic in scope got redone in new engines. I almost wish that was a staple of game makers. Like if they release a new game, they also take their older game and port it forward into the new engine. It wouldnt have to be flawless, Just stable.

I wish my computer was better, I would be more into trying skywind and the graphics overhaul but I my comp sucks
Just finally got it installed after a couple failures and interrupted downloads...
Maybe I will attempt;t the graphics overhaul if I feel up for it or it seems necessary.

at the moment, you have to be a developer to use skywind anyways. it used to be public, but there were too many people shitting up the boards with dumb questions and people submitting terrible/incorrect content
