Sleeping meds are an addiction, too sleeping...
You would be pretty fucking livid too knowing your easiest and potentially only solution to a good nights sleep is gone...

There's a reason for that. People who are addicted to drugs feel they can't function without them. Fun fact: humans can't function without sleep. You remove the ability of a human to sleep who has suffered from it long enough and knows what's coming, they're going to sound exactly like a drug addict. You can also make a parallel argument between an addict knowing the suffering they will suffer on detox to the suffering an insomniac is going to experience as a lack of sleep.

I suppose I'm addicted to my epilepsy medication too, since I have to take that everyday huh?
Is everyone with a medical condition an addict now?
Let's say I was addicted. Let's say I'm so addicted that when he flushed my medicine I died.
Now he's a murderer. Does it make it okay just because it was an addiction? Fuck no.

doesnt matter what or why. He is mentally and probably physically addicted to that drug. He'll sleep plenty after 10 minutes of his body jackknifing on the ground. every muscle in his body will hurt and sleep is what he'll do

You don't just fall asleep after a seizure. I already have epilepsy.
It's too bad about all those cancer patients and their addiction to chemotherapy isn't it? Those fuckers won't stop mainlining drugs. We should cut them off too, huh?

Although I honestly wouldn't wish it on anyone, there are a lot of people out there I have that split second wish that they were afflicted with insomnia.. People who don't have it just don't understand. I've suffered with it my entire life, but people always feel the need to minimize it or act as if it could just be easily solved. It can't just be willed out of your life anymore than heart disease or schizophrenia can be, yet everyone acts as if it can be. Change your diet. Get more sun. Try meditation/exercise, and the worst of all of them "set a schedule". That last one just fucking infuriates me. If I could set a damn schedule of sleep, then I wouldn't have the problem to begin with. It also shows the mentality of those who don't understand. Like those who suffer are just willingly not sleeping. That it's entirely in our control. That we have any choice at all (outside of drugs) of when we sleep.
Do you know how fucking amazing it would be if I could just decide "okay I'm going to sleep" and go to lay down in bed and actually sleep? I would give almost any fucking thing for that ability.

exercise and try some things to help relax and decompress? take a hot bath, if you can where there is no light or no sound. I like places with no sound. absolute silence and fresh air is the best stuff ever

The problem is that your sleep and epilepsy meds aren't the only things you take. I can't feel sorry for someone who plays the victim and adds whatever other drugs in that they want to take to get high.

Not sure why everyone is casting judgement towards the OP. What difference it make if he is an addict or not. The point is his room mate stole something from him.
Not sure why no one has mentioned this yet, but the room mate is actually the one who sounds like a drug addict. Has a job but can't pay rent, owes op a bunch of money, 'flushes' ops drugs (news flash bro you got robbed).
Time to stop letting this junkie take advantage of you. And quit giving a shit what the trolls of shroomery think about you. People on here now just argue just for the sake of arguing.
Hope your withdrawals/insomnia aren't yo bad brother.

I've been suffering from insomnia since I was a young boy. I was officially diagnosed at 16. I've had sleep studies. My brain doesn't stay in theta brainwaves.
Are dialysis patients addicted to dialysis? They need it to live but it's not an addiction.Quote:

Medicinally and neither. They're prescribed for sleep. Temazepam is pretty useless for recreation. I don't think anyone would abuse Temazepam. That's why it's prescribed so often. It doesn't have any or at least has very little anti anxiety effects.

I'm sorry but I really need to chime in here.
I have insomnia too buddy so don't act like you are the only one. Do you really think your problems will be solved if you take drugs for the rest of your life? Guess what dude, benzo addiction is not something to even fucking joke about. Sure, they may be a short term solution, two weeks MAX. The longer you take that stuff the less effective it will become and the more your body will need it. You think you have a tough time sleeping with the medication now? Well guess what, eventually you are gonna need to get off the medication and it will be a thousand times tougher.
Judging by your post OP I have a feeling you are a benzo addict and you are in such an uproar because you cannot get your fix. You need to learn to sleep without drugs because long term that is the only way to go about this. Trust me dude. If your friend was here face to face I would give him a big hug because I really think he was concerned about you and how being zonked out all the time was effecting your life.

Go steal your mother's or father's medication and call them an addict.
See how well that goes for you.
Cactus you clearly have no idea what insomnia is. Insomnia isn't oh I had trouble sleeping last night. It's oh I've been awake for 2 days and get tunnel vision.

OP, I don't think you're a drug-addict, but have you ever tried melatonin? I find melatonin to be far more effective for sleep than xanax or temazepam.
Also, you need to stop using your laptop and any other electronic devices on your bed, or even in the same room as your bedroom. That's the shit that keeps me awake at night too.
Do you ever oversleep? When I was a teenager I thought I had insomnia, but that's because I would stay awake till 5AM surfing the web in bed, and then sleep 14 hours straight. Then of course I couldn't sleep the next night.

Well no kidding he has a tough time going to sleep it is 1am where I am at and being on a bright computer isn't helping anyone here catch some zzz's. OP this is what I am talking about if you want a better sleep you need to work for it not expect a magical pill to solve everything.

Lack of sleep is very much life threatening. I've attempted suicide from lying awake staring at a ceiling for hours.
Yes I've tried melatonin, didn't really help, valerian root helps a bit but really is like a band aid on a bullet wound.
Sprinkles and Cactus have proved they have no idea what they're running their mouths about and it's almost humorous.
