King Spawn
    #21761023 - 06/04/15 10:09 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Have an approx. 3lb fully colonized King Oyster bag. My question is, should I fruit or expand this, and how far could it be expanded effectively?

3lbs of grain or bulk sub? Do you know how many generations it is away from a petri?

If its young (G2) then you could expand it out. Any older and your asking for trouble. We run grain out 3 generations and then spawn the G3 into bulk sub (sterilised supplemented sawdust). We tried going further and ran into contamination.

If you fruit it I would recommend casing it. We have yields almost twice what our strain supplier suggests is possible with our cased bags!

Good luck

Yeah it's bulk. 1qt RGS added to approx. 2 lbs straw. Guess I should fruit. As as far as casing, I have verm, coir, potting soil on hand...straight verm ok?

I haven't tried straight verm, only 1:1 verm: peat and straight peat. I add hydraulic lime at a ratio of 1:100 by volume. I guess you can pasteurise it or use agricultural lime at 10x this concentration to give the same result.

Post your fruits!
