I rewatched it and it looks like the guy is walking away and setting his iPod. Someone running away from the cops isn't gonna whip out their iPod. Then he's putting it in his pockets as the cop speaks to him and he turns around to see a guy pointing a gun at him, which is reasonably why he was backing away. The cop shoots him just as he's doing what the cop was asking him to do.

No not illegal you're correct.
Let's reenact the scenario in your point of view.
Starting with the phone call making the report yo the police about someone waving a gun at a store.
Person calling: I'd like to report someone is wavin a gun at a store.
911: Where are you located
Person calling: blah blah blah
911: Do you have a description of the subject
Person calling: uh, no. I don't. (Lol right... only in your eyes Akira)
911: then who the fuck are we looking for
10 min later cop pulls up, crowd separates but nobody walks away but this one dude who blatantly ignored the cop, maybe he did but then reaches in his pocket while the cop is hyperalert, using fear as his strength doing his fucking job to feed his kids and wife...
Go take your faggot hippie tree hugging shit elsewhere

By taking them out of his pockets and raising them up. What are you confused about? Do when need to dumb down public education a little more to make it accessible for you?

It does look that way now that I rewatched too.
EDIT: His hands might have even been whipped forward by the gun shot

If cops are allowed to be extra fearful in their line of work simply because they have a wife and kids, then they shouldn't be in that line of work. Cops are supposed to be trusted to have proper judgement, if their judgement is impaired then they aren't doing their job.

It's an unfortunate event at best. You don't know events preceeding, you certainly don't know that officers perception of the situation at the time. The cop saw what he saw, what we all saw he's aware someone had a weapon he doesn't know who. He chooses rhe individual acting suspicious as someone he should detain and the individual doesn't listen. My perception would be negative all around and I would become hyperalert myself. Then dude reaches in his pocket and the cop shoots. He remained professional called for backup and a medic and reported shots fired. He then checked the suspect verified there was no muscle tension and began searching.
You think he's happy about what he did? Remember the officer has a fucking conscious too and he has to live with this shit the rest of his life and he is certainly not somen ruthless killer.
Your view is entirely one sided and incredibly closed minded. Your argument in this matter has no substance and this post has substance for your own referance. Seeing both sides of the situation and stating facts.
