I've spent probably close to $400 on hat pins over the years.  Probably close to half of them have fallen off my hat.  These are the remaining pins I haven't parted ways with.

Stupid shit you buy when you are drunk and have too many band shirts I guess.  My friend made all the Umphrey's pins.  He always made good money selling them, much more saturated market now though.

I collected pins when i was like 8 years old or something. Do the pins have to be like (scene) pins or do any old pins work. I'd definitely sell them if so. I also have one of those bird/plane pins like Georgio :ancientaliens:  wears on his suits.

most of them are scene pins

they focus on certain acts like jam bands or bassnectar, Pretty Lights, GRiZ, stuff like that

and all the other ones you typically see are drug related

Hoffman pin is probably my favorite, frylock pin I got during Aura in Florida 3 1/2 years ago.  I haven't seen anyone else with it.

Pins are worth what people are willing to pay at the moment.

Think of them like baseball cards.  In the future people won't want anything to do with them and may or may not be worth anything.

They are each little pieces of portable art that help people identify with each other.

Each one is beautiful and tells a story.  In that way they are priceless.

It is something to enjoy, not get rich off of, that is the point of art.

its def something to get rich off of if you have an established name in the scene

popular pin makers? thats their real job. among other forms of art like prints and shirts etc etc

I didn't even know this was an actual thing. Dang, I would never use my money to buy pins. They do look pretty sweet though, I love how good some of them are.

I was once gifted a hand-wrapped wire pendant in Austin.  I didn't realize that it was a sign of respect.  I just thought it wasn't that big of a deal.  Cool story gang, I may post a picture of mine later.
