North GA ID requests
    #21758691 - 06/03/15 06:56 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

First species was found on decaying hardwood in a forest with both conifers and hardwoods

Second were found in a lot that was cleared about 4 years ago, and a house was never built on. Lots of red clay, briars, and pine saplings. I was thinking L. velutina, but I'm hoping they are Psilocybe naematoliformis.

Third species were found on a decaying hardwood log. I think they are a gymnopilus species.. Hopefully junonius, but they are not as dark as most junonius I've seen.

These last ones I found a few days back. They kind of look like weilli, but idk. I didn't plan on uploading these, so I didn't take any gill shots. The gills were white, and the stipe was bare from what I remember

Any help will be greatly appreciated:respect:

Sorry I didn't take any photos of the gills, because I wasn't planning on uploading that find. Based on just the cap, could they be weilli if the gills and stipe were right?  I left them a few days ago, but I can go back and see if there are any more fruits. Thanks for all the help

Bummer:facepalm3: Are you 100% positive the first species is a gymnopilus? They were all so small, and the cap had no fibrils like they usually do. Also, the stipe was super smooth, and didn't have the vertical line pattern like most gyms have

In defence of the learned Dr. Ghosty, "Gymnopus" and "Gymnopilus" do refer to two disjoint sets of species. Therefore, his statement is true if we understand it to contain an ellipsis that is pragmatically accommodatable given the context: "Gymnopus and Gymnopilus are different [sets of] species." QED
