Black metal anyone?

The best real black metal comes from Norway, without a doubt! But I'm wondering if any one not from Scandinavia, listen to this genre? And if so, which band?

Funnily enough, the 'black metal' I've listened to the most in recent years has been Agalloch.. which is a band from Portland, OR.. Just way more vibey than the 'kvlt' straight forward Norwegian black metal.
Used to be big on immortal, burzum and the likes... can't even remember the name of some nutty 'progressive' black metal bands I listened to

I used to listen to Ragnarok, Behemoth, and few others. I haven't been in to that stuff for quite a while and I can't even remember the names of a lot of them. I used to be all metal all the time. Now it's all rap, reggae/ska, and rock.

I was an absolute black metal fanatic for about 10 years or so, until I really started getting into jazz, blues, funk and well... anything that satisfies what it is I crave in music at a specific time.
I still listen to black metal quite a bit, but it by no means dictates my life the way it used to.
lets see, I'll try to go in order to the exposure to the bands in my life, since to my being young and discovering this stuff since the late 90's, it was always magical to come across a mystical black metal album that really scared you!
I'd eat psychedelics and do nothing but listen to black metal to try to really "figure it out" and it satisfied my kicks for many years; then life got weird, mother got cancer, and dealt with that for 2 years, and then she passed away - this had a huge impact on the music I surrounded myself with, and unfortunately - black metal was not helping much during that time.
ANYWAY - since then - it's found it's proper place back in my life - it's just that while I was away, I had a bit of a love affair with other music that worked.
So.
Immortal Dissection Early Dimmu Borgir Burzum} Mayhem} Bathory Enthroned Darkthrone Satyricon Ulver Impaled Nazarene Hades (Hades Almighty) Nokturnal Mortum Emperor Arcturus In Battle Marduk Gorgoroth 1349 Behexen Carpathian Forest Keep of Kalessin Limbonic Art Manegarm Windir Enslaved Borknagar Aura Noir Zyklon-B (Blood Must Be Shed EP) ...And Oceans Abigor Drudkh Inquisition Akercocke Beherit Negura Bunget Taake Funeral Mist Vintersorg Kampfar Thorns
then I got into other kinds like
Xasthur Mysticum Kult Ov Azazel Peste Noire Dodheimsgard Blasphemy Infernal War Covenant
and many more, but those stand out the most.
let me know if you need an album recommendation from a specific band, as I have raped these disco's.

I do also listen to other genres, but my heart is black as metal. There is nothing like going into the woods, set a camp eat a blotter and some shrooms, and listen to the darkest tones you can imagine. The sound and lyrics of black metal are very symbiotic with the forest IME.

That sounds like a lot of fun actually. My most interesting shroom trips were in the woods at night. Very cool atmosphere.

nattens madrigal by ulver is one of my favorite black metal albums.
as you might guess i'm drawn to the raw, darkthrone inspired, recorded in a basement type black metal.

You know your stuff! The "basement" sound is half the experience IMO. Its sound, like your in the basement having a private session... There some down to eart feeling about it.

Not death from America, death from I think Norway, there considered an original death metal band. One of like four bands that actually started the black metal movement in Norway in the 1990s.

"kvelertak" is a very black metal inspired band, but they stand out because of their ability to make a mix of death, black, trash and some hard brutal Norwegian folk lore punk... I recommend this band if you wanna boost a gathering!

Yeah you are right. Original Norwegian name is " døden". very old school black metal.
