A while back the police came to my house questioning me about stealing gas out of someones garage. They said my license plate number was seen and there were 3 witnesses. I told them I had nothing to do with it. They took pictures of me and said they were gonna put the pics in a line up and get back to me. Today they called and talked to my father and said I was identified right away and they are arresting me for burglary and they said they knew I was just driving and if I blame the person who got out of my car and stole the gas my penaltys will be smaller. I have to be at the police station at 9:30 am they said. Any advice? What kind of penalty would stealing 10 dollars of gas and the gas can be?

penalties for not showing up depend on what they want you to appear for, but its probably in your best interest to go. annnnnd the charge is going to be some bs misdemeanor like petty larceny.

plausable deniability. I didnt know it wanst his house, I didnt break into anything. if there were 3 witnesses that could ID you and your car it must have daytime
Why would someone break into a house to steal gas when you could steal it more easily at a gas station.

That sucks man... that you guys got caught or whatever... But your best bet is to show up, take the heat for whatever bullshit they are going to give you... pay the fine, and continue on with your life. You dont want to have to worry about warrants and stupid shit like that folllowing you around for the rest of your life. In the words of the violent femmes: "This will go on your permanent record!"

let me tell you all this. you don't show up, they come find you and then you get to show up twice. once for your original charge and again for failure to appear charges. the FTA will stick even if the other charges don't. always show up. dodging your court date only paints a darker picture on your original case anyways. don't ask me how i know this.
