I'm so fucking pumped. This is going to be the best Fallout game ever hands fucking down. The game starts BEFORE the bomb goes off. You wake up 200 years later. Did you see HALF the shit about how detailed the fucking game is? The 100% open crafting / building system, that doesn't require stupid pay walls or timers. And the crafting shit is completely OPTIONAL. Build a fucking stronghold, booby trap it, protect it from raiders and shit... and that's a completely optional part of the game... WOT!!! EVERY seemingly worthless item in the game can be broken down into a raw components and used for crafting. EVERY. ITEM. Shittons of weapons and 700+ customizations for the weapons. Combat looks better than ever before. The lead dev said he's spent over 400 hours in it and still finds new things he's never seen before that surprise him. WOT Mini-Games on the pipboy?? An actual working pip boy that comes with the collectors edition??? A fucking pip boy app for your phone so you can see your stats and stuff. WOT DETAILS FUCKING GALORE. HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS GOING TO FUCKING OWN SO HARD HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS MOTHERFUCKER COCKFUCK

Shits gonna be ballin. I preordered it the day it was announced for $45 and every sliver of video and detail I've seen so far has justified that purchase.

There was another article where the lead dev said they made some graphical sacrifices in order to bring the billions of features in this. I cant imagine a 970 being unable to play it.
I pre-ordered it also, using a 'ooops we fucked up, sorry!' coupon from greenmangaming. I always seem to get good deals through them and they send out lots of coupon codes for discounts on ANYTHING they sell all the time it seems. I think I paid 32$ for it.
An I'm positive a 970 will play it just fine. I'm sure some settings will have to be disabled or lowered, but I doubt you will care much about 99% of them. Stuff like nvidia hairworks which looks cool but is not worth a 10 to 20% performance hit at ALL...
I'm on a 680 by end of this year ill prob be looking to upgrade, if I have not already. Because finally we are at the point that the upcoming stuff and the current upper end stuff is a big enough performance boost over mine for the cost to make it worth it.

New "gameplay" video posted by bethesda.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=312&v=0lWNdcbq3EU
Most of it is the same stuff you saw from the E3 conference, but there is some new stuff as well. Its all stiched together so be one smooth gameplay only video with no devs talking or people saything stuff about it. Just pure gameplay. There is more then they showed before as well. Getting into, and using, a power armor suit, more npc dialogue. Fighting a dethclaw in said power armor suit, using the new VATS system. The new VATS setup just slows down time instead of completely pausing it, which I like.
Anywho, WATCH IT BITCHES.

Naw, theres nothing new here. It's just all the E3 stuff stitched together. Fairly certain they showed the deathclaw part doing the Xbox1 Fallout 4 demo, though I'm too lazy to check.

You mean when console players are able to download and play mods created and programmed by PC players?
Recently set my computer up with a new GTX 980 ti, Fallout in my Oculus Rift is going to be great. Creating my own mods is going to be awesome too.

Coworker and I were just talking this morning about it and how stoked we are for it to come. I would definitely not mind if they decided to say "SURPRISE, ITS COMING EARLY!"
The fact that you can build little towns of sorts, and that finalllllllyyyy all the junk and garbage and shit in the wasteland is going to have a proper use beyond just picking up "random toy car for that one blueprint".
So much awesome I can even enough.

Yeah thats their plan at least. We will see how well it works in reality tho. Mods for games on console are a finicky beast to put it lightly.
The next year or two in gaming are going to be big big years. Especially with all the VR related stuff officially releasing and what not. I really hope this turns into a new revolution in gaming, like what 3D accelerator cards did in making live rendered 3D possible in gaming.

Yeah, there will obviously be kinks to work out, but people from Bethesda have talked about the most appealing part of modern consoles being that they are basically computers in terms of working with them. Think it will be a good opportunity for console gamers to experience the world of modding, even if they won't get to participate in content creation.
Am super pumped for the official consumer release of Oculus, definitely going to pick up the new model when it drops. Am also looking forward to seeing a transition -- right now we are seeing things like GTA's first person setup and Fallout's VR-friendly level of immersion, but we are not quite at the level of large companies programming support themselves.
Third-party software has made a lot of progress in terms of making up the difference in support. VorpX has me cruising around Los Santos in VR with graphics on the level of all standard gaming, minus issues with a slightly narrow FOV. Fallout should be quite user-friendly given interface design, and Skyrim already has the FOV handled via console commands, so Bethesda likely has that base covered as well.
Just waiting out the clock until launch now.

Still remember the days of Nintendo's Virtual Boy.
Really have to have first-hand experience with where VR has been (red screens, wire-frame, and scrollers) and where it has come to (a better and more immersive experience than playing on a monitor, with no graphical sacrifice) to fully respect what is going on.
Oculus is simply where the next generation of VR gaming begins though, not the goal-point it is moving towards. Proper Oculus support means that things like the omni-directional treadmills and driving rigs serve a more real purpose.
Sure, it could still flop and Facebook's billions could have been throwing good money down on a sick horse, but am not seeing it that way at this point. VR's advancements have carried it further than many who have not tried the new units realize. Microsoft could be shooting themselves in the foot by working to bring Oculus support to Xbox One; Sony could be pissing away development money on trying to keep up with their Morpheus system. Even porn companies are throwing in with VR, and porn is a background driving force that pushes everything forward.
Everything previewed for Fallout 4 has been very VR friendly already. Going to be having a great time right from the start, even before the consumer version comes out for the average user to jump into in 2016.

Hah. Joking aside Porn really is one of the biggest driving forces for internet and PC technology. At one point a few years ago it was estimated 80% of the money on the net was directly related to porn some way or some how.
The number has dropped since then of course as "the internet of things" becomes more and more of a reality and the net gets integrated into everyone's daily lives more and more.
IMO I don't think its a fad that iwll die out, I also think VR will be another big evolutionary step in gaming and other industries, like the medical industry for example. Companies are already making setups that use occulus or another brand of VR to assist with teaching, and for surgery, etc.
However I don't think it will completely replace current interfaces. Monitors will always be around for example, at least for a long long time forward. I think VR made it past the 'fad' stage years ago, and that's what people were all wondering and worrying about with it when Occulus was the only one out and around. We've moved past that point now which is why multiple other companies are all trying to come to market with their own versions as well.

Monitors definitely still have a place, but it can be genuinely surprising to put on the Oculus on a nice rig and see just how powerful it can be.
In terms of companies using VR for medical purposes, watched an interesting 20 minute documentary on using VR technology to assist in PTSD treatments.
Would really love to devise some sort of system of utilizing the Oculus to help deal with some of my own issues, rather than just using it as a sort of escape from the frustrations of being seized up with pain so frequently.
