Fallout 4 will be heavy on your gaming rig. Its time to upgrade for a lot of people. Get ready for the next wave of hardware intensive games.
Console or pc it's your choice. Just remember this wasnt a console game ported to pc, it's a pc game ported to consoles. And if you choose to play on console, make sure you have plenty of free space as the mods roll out.

The requirements are more than TW3 and GTA V. What we saw in the tech demos was not the full potential of the game so it has been said on the bethesda forums. So expect to be awed by graphics.

For PC it will. Sorry console players, you will be missing out on some graphics. Im sure within the first week of release, there will be youtube videos doing graphic comparisons.

Was under the impression that the previews at E3 were xbox footage.
What is more of interest to me is how much of the graphics they turned up for the "recommended" specs.
What Rockstar recommends for GTAV PC, and what level of hardware it actually scales up to, are pretty different. The website recommends a 2 GB video card, but if I go into the menu and turn up all the graphics and advanced graphics it lists a video card utilization of over 7 GB.

The amount of RAM on your video card isn't everything. In fact its not even most of it. The raw GPU power is far more important in most cases. More ram usually just allows for higher resolutions and more textures in memory at the same time, but its the GPU that does the work and makes your game run smooth or not while using all those fancy effects.
I'm still on a 680 with 2GB ram and it does just fine with everyhing I throw at it on near max settings for heavy games, max settings for lesser games. Witcher 3 runs flawless with everything uber'd out except one thing I cant remmember off the top of my head which is one click down.
Most likely after the new year though I'll be starting to plan my next video card purchase. Been trying to hold out for the next generation of stuff to get as far along as possible since whatever I buy will have to last me another 3 years at least.

Yeah, I got more out of Fallout: New Vegas than most people for that reason (I'm a Vegas guy). The local maps were not accurate (for example, the hotels were not in their proper positions on the strip and the little towns like Goodsprings, Nipton and Searchlight were nothing like their real-world counterparts) but the world map was done very well. Everything was in its proper place from all the little towns, to the casino w the roller-coaster, to the prison, to the solar power plant, to the air force base, to Mount Charleston. Still to this day whenever I drive through the highway intersection where the 93/95 freeways meet I call it "the 188" in my head.

In GTAV the card swap was the difference between having minimum textures option and advanced graphics off compared to having them cranked up. The quality difference between them is clearly visible to me. Interestingly though, I just popped in game to try and pull the numbers up in the menu and now it is only telling me that with everything maxed out it will utilize just over 4 GB of the card -- perhaps the large discrepancy was just an interface error they finally patched, as 4 GB seems far more reasonable than the red warning bar it gave me before. Maybe now I should go back and turn up the rest and see how it goes.
For Witcher, was it the hairworks that got you?

Hairworks gets everybody. I can max W3 without hairworks. Hairworks knocks it down to 30fps.

Awed by graphics? Already am. Anything more and it's just gonna be a giant-nerdgasm.
I can only imagine what it's like to be a newborn kid right now, the advancement of technology and gaming is going to be leaps and bounds ahead. Makes you wonder if they'll be able to appreciate the older games.

It's easy to get kids into older games. If you start them out on newer ones it makes it harder though.

Damn, I see why FO:NV felt empty now. Besides the intersection it has that sensation of "can't see shit for miles".

hello guys, I am wondering if i can run fallout 4 on my laptop. It is a MSI leopard gp70 like this one: http://www.msi.com/product/notebook/GP70-2PE-Leopard.html#hero-overview for the lasy :
The latest 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5 Processor NVIDIA GeForce 840M 2GB VRAM DDR3 17.3" WHD+ (1600x900)/FHD(1920x1080) Anti-Glare
I bought it around 1200 canadian dollard like 6 months ago. I dont trust any of the minimum system requirements : following these requirements my pc is not good enough for diablo 3. My PC can run game such a Diablo 3 on high settings if that can help you. Thanks for your answers ! (and sorry for bad englino )

Seriously, your first post is a "can I run it?" question, on shroomery, a forum about psychedelic mushrooms, regarding technical aspects of a game that nobody here has played?
Those specs say nothing about which actual processor you have. What does "The latest i5/17" really mean, if it doesn't specify if it's an i5, an i7, or what it means by "latest".
I'm gonna give you a firm Maybe. That video card is pretty bad though, I'm not sure it meets minimum. Any Nvidia chipset ending in 40m can't be good. From Nvidia's site: "the GeForce 840M is a perfect graphics solution for streaming HD videos, surfing the web, and enjoying entry-level gaming."
Ask again next month.

What exactly were you expecting? Some kind of reassurance that your laptop will run a brand new game that nobody has played because it hasn't released? The most you can get is a guess. It could be in any kind of state, who knows how optimized it is? I looked at your specs and tried and was honest. If you expected anything else I don't know what to tell you.
I could have NOT spent like 3-4 minutes comparing them to the minimum and looking at the benchmarks and shit, if you'd have preferred.
