How do I know that for sure? Have you ever had an encounter with a police officer? When you get pulled over for speeding in my town he will come up to your window with the ticket in hand and say " wanna trade a name for a ticket?" And I'm not lying one bit. Yea it's all fine and dandy that they are suppose to follow the rules that are in place but some of them DONT. But if you don't run or take a swing at him, there is a damn good chance, as sir shrooms said, that it will likely get thrown out or your lawyer can get it banished, but I forget do lawyers work for free? And you still has to go through all this bullshit.

Your saying you would sit on the curb and be polite to some asshole whose job is suppose to be protecting the people, but actually causing more problems, and I am strictly talking about drug charges here, and that's not what I said dude he might not tackle you or throw you to the ground but he still will interagate you about where you got the drugs.

Yeah I would. I'll get my day in court. There's no use in being an asshole, it won't help you then and it won't help you with the prosecutors.
He can ask me where I got the drugs until he's blue in the face. I have no obligation to talk to him, and I won't.

I've had too many police encounters, and never once been arrested. Some don't follow rules is absolutely right, which is why the supreme court ruled that it is 100% legal and protected under the first amendment for the citizens of all 50 states to record police encounters as long as it is on public property since there is no expectation of privacy.
If you follow your rights, do everything appropriately, and they fuck you anyway, don't pay for a lawyer, a public defender will be more then happy to get that shit thrown out for you, makes them look better and work there way up the food chain, and as long as you did everything appropriately, it's basic even for a PD to get it thrown out.
Are you detaining me or am I free to go is the most magical set of words you can learn for any police encounter, by saying that you immediately establish that the stop is voluntary and at that point he either needs to let you go, or detain you/arrest you which he would need probable cause to do. If you're in a car, wait till he writes the ticket, and then says he'll get a k9 to air sniff your car, which has happened to me, then ask him that question. If you got the ticket and he detains you and waits for a k9 after you asked, you won't even go to court, it will get thrown out long before it reaches the court, since now he operated illegally and all evidence would of been obtained illegally.
If you aren't in a car, say it as soon as he says hello, unless he has reasonable suspicion or probable cause, he can't even ask you questions. And you're not required to even provide I.d. unless they have reason to believe you took part in a crime and have something suggesting you did.
Like I saw someone say earlier, he pulled someone over because the car matched a description. A blue honda civic, wouldn't be enough to detain anyone who owns a blue honda civic, but a "blue honda civic, license plate starts with XXX and the owner is a white guy with long hair and has a spoiler" If you match a description like that, then he has reasonable suspicion which is also grounds to detain you.
The law is a very fine line, it's basically a game, learn how to play it and you're good to go.
Or don't and comply, that's up to you.
Edit: I actually have been arrested and charged in court, but for something totally seperate then police stops and getting caught, there was no way out for me when I got arrested so I voluntarily went in and I was underage at the time.
