Bacon- the cult classic of foods 2

Popular for being popular?
Ill never understand why people so vehemently adore bacon. It seems to be the staple of manly foods, the golden standard of breakfast foods.
Ive never cared for it. Seems completely overrated.
Does anyone here actually adore bacon the way that most people claim to?

Good bacon is awesome, most bacon sucks. I don't really like cooking it or dealing with it at all. It's nice to have the good old bacon, eggs, and toast breakfast every now and then. You'll never see me buying breakfast sausage.
Peameal bacon is better than regular bacon.

I think it's pretty versatile, kind of a meat-based condiment. I think some people praise it in an exaggerated way for the humor value.

It's okay. Most people just see the bacon worship on the Internet and jump on the bandwagon because it seems funny at the time.

I cant eat bacon more than like twice a month or something. I think its the grease or something I jus get really sick of it pretty fast. I also think breakfast sausage is absolutly vile I think Ive had like a handful ever in my life I even slightly enjoyed the flavor of.

yeh it was really good but the bacon didnt really crisp up or anything so it was that kinda soft chewy bacon. Normally im not a fan of oreo but i do like a fried oreo and the bacon was actually a nice touch if he could refine his method maybe.

I prefer prosciutto or Iberico ham over bacon.

Herd mentality, bacons ok on a sunday, but its really not that great. sugary, fatty cut of meat thats relatively unhealthy to eat in large quantities. Ill go with some pork chops or nice cut of steak over bacon anyday.

Not really. They're both salted and cured and typically uncooked.
Really, the biggest difference is that bacon typically comes from pork belly, and prosciutto is made with the leg and a lot more thinly sliced.

that's why you must eat the bacon in combination with other foods that balance out its saltiness. like in a toast sandwhich with old cheddar and ripened tomatoes. how do your pork chops compare now??

Theyll still blow bacon out of the water with the right seasoning and cook times. They also serve well with a lot more then potatoes and eggs

i'm not sure man. roast pork and gravy is fucking delishous, but put the two plates side by side and i'd probably choose the sandwich. i'd probably steal your gravy though.
