ID Request: Found a new patch Melbourne East
    #21755373 - 06/02/15 10:51 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
Found these guys growing amongst pine needles, dried up leaves and twigs.

Gills:
Ranging from smokey yellow, cream to purpleish black.

Stem:
Mostly white with a woody texture. The older ones seem to have a brown/orange on the inside (see macro shot) that makes me a bit wary.

Cap:
The fresher ones are brown with some darker discoloration, the older ones have gone a pale brown to yellow, the really old ones have a lot of black on them. SOme have a white line around the edge of the cap/brim.

Spore print color:
Dark purple - All except #12 made a spore print, should I discard #12?

Bruising:
Varies from very subtle bluing to full blown black.

Other information:
I'm quite certain most of these are subs, there are a couple I'm a bit suspicious of due to the following:
Orange inside of some stems eg: # 11, 14, 22, 42, 55
And wondering if these older ones would still be safe to consume: # 1, 3, 4, 9, 13, 20, 29, 30, 31, 37, 40

Thanks Kactus. I'll wait for a few TIs to post as well. What do you reckon of those old blackened ones? Still good? :mushroom2:

Updated spore print pics: All spore prints are dark purple. #12 didn't make a spore print, maybe too old, should I discard it?

#12 looks fine to me and all the rest are P. subaeruginosa as well.

Lol hardmage, I should have given some perspective in the photo, the largest caps are about the diameter/girth of a kiwifruit, so not as huge as they may appear.

Thank you tane mahnta for the confirmation :mushroom2:

Look I'm way beyond being able to concentrate of 155 specimens.
Though the first two pictures are P.Subs (1-11.)
IF the rest are the same, you're good to go.

Upon a brief look they all look fine but make sure they're all the same.
congratulations.

I appreciate people who put in lots of effort and time into hunting.
You did, so good work! It pays off.

Thanks Jay, yeah I know it's a lot to scrutinise every single specimen, if there's a better way to post and ID I'm certainly all ears, always looking to improve and make it easier. Just want to be as thorough as possible so I can be safe and learn as much as I can.

They're all brown cap, white stem, blue bruising, purple spore print. Some are just a lot older than others, and I found maggots in a couple of the stems, needless to say I chucked those ones out.

Btw, very nice haul to you as well today
