Was just going to watch the 2017 Lupin movie/special The Blood Spray of Goemon Ishikawa and noticed in the intro it points out it was the 50th Anniversary of lupin, who first appeared in a 1967 manga
Pretty cool, also it's a great short but sweet movie/special but still hasn't been dubbed I believe. Very violent at parts.
The 2014 special has already been dubbed though and is very worth watching, Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone. Really great plot about political assassinations, sadistic secret societies, and cover ups. Both the 2014/17 specials are only 50~ minutes long.
Really great art too:

I think the new Lupin kicks ass so far.
The soundtracks are half the experience for me!

How many people here have seen Redline?
If you haven't watched it yet, you should watch it the next time you want to watch something. Or you should watch it right now!!
It's one of the most technically impressive and visually creative looking animes ever made.
Each frame of this movie is a marvel to look at. Even the dialogue-heavy scenes are rich with details.
It took them 7 years make this movie and it shows. Yeah, I think you should watch it now if you haven't seen it already.
Here a clip from the movie, to give a you people a taste of what the expect from the movie.

I just re watched Redline the other night, seriously great movie indeed. Amazing art and soundtrack, though it gets too electronic for my tastes at times it fits with movie.
REDLINE OST - Yellow Line
The SpaceDandy race episode seems heavily inspired by Redline, as does Dandy himself who is nearly identical to the redline guy.

Trying to get back into anime. I've been out of it for a long time so I'm just trying to catch up right now on shows I missed out on.
Made a crunchy roll and watched the first 7 episodes of SAO. I remembered hearing about it a while back and it sounded cool.
So far I'm glad I checked it out. I'm really liking it, episode 3 made me cry like a sucker.
Also been big on mmos so this so is really fun for me so far.
Not too sure what else to watch next.
I was browsing around and this occult academy one looked interesting. Also was thinking about Fairy Tail.
Also, I have Lupin in my queue and will be getting around to him too soon enough.

If you want to watch a long, popular, and prolific shonen anime, then watch One Piece. I’ve either sampled or watched a number of them, and IMO One Piece is better.

Every once in awhile I am tempted to check out One Piece but there are so many episodes
Some of the early 70's Shonen is the best IMO, they can be surprisingly dark/violent and mature compared to modern stuff. Devilman is a good example, though the art is pretty rough/old it'sreally dark and aside from mainly having younger characters probably wouldn't be considered shonen these days.
The Netflix adaption of Devilman was pretty good though they definitely modernized it in some ways, and left some parts out. There are 3 old OVA's as well but they are pretty old and also only cover parts of the story.

I'm going to start up Drifters tonight.
Also, I'm a bit disappointed with AOT the movie prt 1. I didn't finish it, but my expectations were pretty high.
Don't get me wrong. It's still a good movie. I'm just a bit upset that they couldn't keep all the characters the same. There was Asian white russian(?)...
I'm also not too sure but it sounds like they kept all the dubbed voices for the dubbed sided movie.
Who knows. Maybe it will get a bit better. I'm only about an hour in.

Drifters is great, it's by the same guy who made Hellsing I believe. Though last I checked the manga was coming out pretty slowly so it may be awhile before the story is finished, after season 1 there are 2 extra episodes that came out with the DVD's or something though they may not be dubbed yet.

Yeah it's dubbed, the bonus episodes 13/14 are not dubbed yet though as they came out later to catch up closer to the manga.
The manga and anime are both very well done, been hoping to hear about season 2 for awhile now but it may be at least a year or two for the manga to progress far enough.

Not exactly anime but anyone else catch the recent AS swim Ballmastrz9009? Really great show with some obvious anime influences, sort of a parody of anime/cartoons among other things:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballmastrz:_9009

It's from the same guy who made Superjail, and has some great voice actors including Master Shake from ATHF Also has a really great soundtrack that blends classic and modern genres.
The first season finished awhile back, 10 short episodes. Pretty sure it got renewed though it may be awhile before the next season. Really hope it sticks around for at least a few seasons.

Nope but I love both super jail and athf. You know, I heard that super jail was cancelled because the last aired episode pushed it and was too much considering it aired on basic cable.

There are a ridiculous amount of good animes but a lot of them don’t have too many episodes. One Piece has like 800+, I think almost 600 in the dub even. I checked it out because I was bored and actually quite liked it once I gave it a chance. i put it in the same category as say, Naruto or Dragonball, but it’s written better and has a nicer “atmosphere” imo. Miles and miles ahead of Fairy Tail, to be sure. The main character is a rubber man who ate a magic devil fruit and he wants to be king of the pirates. Pretty funny at times too.
“Hey that was mine!” “I didn’t see your name written on it..” “It was on my plate!”
