1st time growing, problems =(
    #2174302 - 12/13/03 06:44 AM (20 years, 3 months ago)

hi, i bought a grow kit, and i have been told on irc (which doesn't seem to be working at the min) that i should water it only once, keep it in a bag, air tight in the dark... well it has started colonizing, but it hasn't grown on the top for ages, it seems to be growing down the sides of the container... Am i doing everything right? is this ment to happen?

any ideas? sorry i am such a newbie...  :frown:

ok i just discovered that there is a thin layer of vermiculite on the surface! that is why it is not colonising, underneigh is brown rice and it looks fully colonized! yay, its been growing for a week now, what should i do?

do i just wait, leaving it in the dark bag, or expose it to some light? will the light penetrate the vermiculite? is the vermiculite ment to colonise?

usually its good to leave them in the jar to really finish the colonization process for about a week after they look fully colonized, since if you birth them now they will probly just sit there for about a week. Then after the waiting period, birth them and set them verm side up on the jar lid, with the jar lid sitting on top of a layer of moist pearlite. Drop the temp about 10 degrees, and expose to some sort of indirect light, usually just opening the windows is perfect, as long as the cakes aren't hit by direct sunlight...please update as it comes along...peace...

Let it fully colonize. Then mix it with your compost or whatever came in the kit. Expose to 12/12 lighting and wait for pins. My buddy just fruited a bag. Said he only opened it twice during the whole process which took about 1.5 months.
