Ok when i play video games idk about you but i get THE best ideas for features they should put in the game. I'm nust going to rant about what i think would be awesome to add in The game with this post. I'm going to try and avoid complaining about things that were intentionally left out.

This is essentially my fallout 4 wishlist.

Fallout storms:basically snow but it would be radioactive ash falling everywhere.

Destructive environment: Have more objects break apart when shot, be able to blast holes into walls as long as they aren'tan actual location

Mini nuke destruction: when detonating a mini nuke have radiation soak the entire area for at least 1 in game week. All items are turned to ash immediately, al water in the area has a high rad count that slowly depletes over the course of the in game week. Make it a large area too. Then have upgraded versions of everhthing that spawns in there start spawning more.

Ex:super mutants were there before detonation, after maybe they all become mutant warlords, after enough consecutive detonations in the area a super mutant behemoth spawns.

I am at work right now but as soon as i start playing the game i will add to this when more comes to mind.

Destructible environments would be great fun -- having so much of Boston in ruin, but not even being able to knock over a crumbling brick wall kills some immersion.

The mini-nukes having an actual outcome would be a nice touch as well, since currently it is basically possible to carpet an area with nukes and have no outcome (aside from everything dying, obviously).

Everyone I've talked to says far harbor was to short and has no purpose after buying. I'll get it eventually but not in a rush atm.

The way i see it is i can do a hundred different thimgs with settlement items vs a giant map with a short quest line. Does far harbor have new settlement locations?

Currently settlements and survival mode are the only thing worth replaying to me atm.

If i were playing on pc I'm sure mods would have completely ruined the dlc for me though.

In terms of replayable content after completing the DLC, the only thing Far Harbor adds is more locations for radiant quests.  Minutemen and Brotherhood send me to dungeons on the island as replacement for locations in Boston sometimes.
It is more satisfying for replayability of the full questline with multiple characters though, as they have at least 4 different endings, and there are a handful of points where the DLC acknowledges which faction the player sided with in Boston.

Has 4 settlement locations on the island, with varying degrees of customization available.

Survival mode is great already, but thankfully they are doing some tweaks still.  The latest patch (I think it went live today, as my Fallout downloaded 700 megs but does not appear to have any additional DLC) adds in a save on exit feature -- should be great for having to quit out of the game without running across the map looking for a bed to save in first.

I was so pissed off living in the middle of fucking no where with super slow internet when I bought the physical version of the game just so I could play instantly... installed 5gb from the dvd... and had to download the other 20gb.
...

When I first found out about that, I went back to the store and cancelled my pre-order to just get the game on Steam instead.  Actually let me play faster, since Steam allowed me to pre-load before release day, whereas the disc would have meant waiting until after the store opened to even be able to download.
It is a kind of ridiculous direction that the games industry is taking in general though -- remember getting GTA 5 and having the hard copy come with 7 DVDs...then still having to wait hours for my net to pull in the launch day patch. :waits:

Gameplay trailer for Nuka World has dropped:

Release date August 30th.

Trailer has me a bit divided, shows off a number of mechanics that piqued my curiousity, but gives no context of execution.
The carnival games and riding some of the rides seems like it could be comical to do in the Fallout universe, but also make it seem like there will be predominately filler to play around with.

They alluded to leading a Raider attack to take over Sanctuary, but likely to play out like the existing Settlement system from another perspective.
Still hoping for a Raider version of Preston to tell me Settlements are doing fine and I have to go take what they have.

Apparently the file size is larger than Far Harbour, but since there appears to be a ton of new assets included that does not give perspective on the actual size of the world space or amount (or lack thereof) of quests.

Looks neat, concerned about it being more gimmick than substance though.
At least there should be new toys to play with for creating mods.

Then after this DLC, they will be moving along to the Skyrim re-release and console mods for that.
Given how much of a fiasco console mods has been so far, Skyrim could be a real mess.
Currently still a bunch of theft that happens on X1; a number of mod authors are boycotting Bethesda.net due to lack of moderation, which has resulted in them being labeled "PC Elitists who don't want console gamers to have anything nice" and drives more people to mod theft; PS4 mods are still in limbo, because Sony won't allow Bethesda to release any announcements about what is going on, but seems to be issue with Sony's audio compression system and them being a lot tougher on Bethesda about what is 'allowed' to be uploaded.
The biggest difference with Skyrim is going to be that there is a lot more established work out there, and a lot more players who have been hearing about Skyrim mods for ages now and will hate any mod author who is unable or unwilling to port their work over. :cookiemonster:

But hey, by this time next year will have an HTC Vive and I'll be riding modded Nuka Coasters around my own settlements in VR.

All the mods I installed are slowly corrupting the gameplay but its doing it in superbly creepy ways. Cuts scenes are noticeably different. The second one with Hancock, when he address's everyone, kept giving me closeups of deacons face for some reason. Then he started following me around good neighbour and getting right up in my face.  Sometimes the raiders/gunners wont even fight anymore. They just sit there, or walk around. Its like they've become self aware. I've created ghosts in the machine.

Is this within the last week, or over a longer term?
Know that the general patch that came with Nuka World messed with a lot of mods.
Was out of game over the long weekend since F4SE broke.

Have not been having camera issues, but have a strange glitch where Piper goes invisible every time I take Berry Mentats -- she lights up with the life detect, then fades out of existence and becomes a disembodied voice following me around.
:feelsparanoidman:

Nuka World itself has been a little hit or miss, if I did not have multiple characters I may feel frustrated -- it makes no sense for my main character to help the Raiders, but doing the quest to eliminate them instead just means that 90% of the quest content in the DLC becomes inaccessible on that character.
So they are charging extra to play evil -- would like to compliment them for at least listening to fans and adding some evil options in to the game (which will be great for anyone who is waiting for the complete edition), but the execution feels slightly frustrating.

The park zones themselves are interesting and nicely designed though, and the assets are probably going to be great tools moving forward.
Also quite fond of the fact that all the special robot designs drop Automatron pieces, which will allow me to build myself a Nuka Robot and/or Space Robot army at some point.

This pose mod may be one of my favourite things since Cannabis Commonwealth
And anyone who likes Skyrim and Power Armour may want to check out TES-51 Power Armor.
Xbone version here.

Are there any mods so far that make FO4 better in terms of role-playing or survival? I lost interest in the game pretty quickly after it was released so I haven't been paying attention. It seemed like the story and dialogue was broken beyond repair, but I got my PC fixed up and I'm thinking about giving it another chance. Something like the "Requiem" mod for Skyrim would be awesome, does anything like that exist?

Nothing like Requiem yet, sadly.
Story and dialogue basically continues to suffer the same issues everywhere but in the Far Harbor DLC, where they appear to have taken the early criticisms to heart.  Far Harbor played out a fair bit better in terms of story, questing and dialogue trees, and also took some steps to reintroduce skill checks as options to complete tasks.  On the whole though, will not find much improvement of the Vanilla experience in that regard in comparison to earlier titles.  Nuka World still suffers in that area as well, but it provides a contrast to the base game due to content -- basically, people complained FO4 did not allow Evil-aligned play, and now complain Nuka World does not allow Good-aligned play.

There were some early Survival/Difficulty overhaul mods pretty shortly after launch, but have not seen much out of them since the official Survival overhaul.
New Survival mode is pretty dramatically different from the original iteration though -- a lot more in common with New Vegas' Hardcore mode, but with some additional factors like removal of fast travel and saving only on sleep.

Know some people have talked about doing significant overhauls, but nothing has really come to fruition yet.

Well, this is certainly a post I never wanted to have to make, but bad news for PS4 players has finally been made official -- Sony has, after all this time and all the effort, decided not to allow players to use mods on their system for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim.

Quote:

After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.

Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.

We will provide an update if and when this situation changes.

https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/ps4-mod-update/2016/09/09/199

Being that this comes right after Sony announced the resoundingly disappointing PS4 Pro, it inclines me to think they were sitting on this decision until after that announcement.
It also make me wonder how well Sony will do going forward, with a weaker system than Microsoft next gen and a whole host of features that Xbox is going to be doing better for console players.
Of course, PC is still the way to go in general, but for the crowd that is unwilling to commit to that level of hardware upgrade, the future of Xbox Slim and Scorpio are looking better than the future of PS4 Slim and Pro.

It sucks, but cannot say it was unexpected -- there were so many rumors about crazy demands Sony was making that finding out they were true actually makes everything seem less crazy.

Either way, this really sucks for Playstation users that Sony has essentially just said they don't get the same support and features on their platform as everyone else.
:feelsbadman:

It's a weird decision, makes me wonder what their reasoning is. Anyway, console users were never going to get any mods that depend on the script extender, which is most of the good ones. They should really just convert to PC already, a decent enough video card isn't that expensive.

New update went up regarding PS4 mods
Quote:

We’re excited to announce that mod support is coming to PlayStation 4 for both Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4. Additionally, we’ll also be supporting the new PlayStation 4 Pro with both titles.

Skyrim will have these features when it launches on October 28. The new power of the PlayStation 4 Pro has allowed us to make Skyrim render in native 4k, and it looks better than ever. Here are some screens to show you just how great it looks.

Mod support will come to Skyrim first. We and Sony have worked hard to make this possible. Mods on PlayStation 4 will allow you to modify and create your own content by using our Creation Kit available here. You will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods, but you will be able to use any assets that come with the game, as most mods do. By creating a Bethesda.net account, you’ll be able to browse and try mods right from within the game.

We are excited finally to get modding to our PlayStation fans who have supported us for so long. Modding has been an important part of our games for over 10 years, and we hope to do even more in the coming year for all our players, regardless of platform.

After the work is complete on Skyrim, we’ll be updating Fallout 4 for both mods and PS4 Pro. We expect Fallout 4 to take advantage of the PS4 Pro in 4k along with enhanced lighting and graphics features.

Thanks again for all your support. We can’t wait to hear about your new adventures.

Link here.

Visit the link for the high-res versions of the Skyrim remaster screenshots, they are worth a look. :cookiemonster:

Essentially, for mods this means that PS4 won't be getting custom armours, weapons, power armours, new land masses and the like; however, they will still have access to DLC quests that use in-game assets, housing mods, presumably cheat mods and the like.
Less than ideal from a modding perspective, but it seems Sony's limitations on what content can be published have landed as they have.

Just wanted to necro this thread to say I finally got fallout 4 and just started it

Finally got a computer I can actually play it on and bought it off steam on sale.

I can actually run the game at Max graphics! Feels great after years of dealing with my laggy old laptop... Man this game is beautiful, going to try out the HD textures pack as well.

Any tips for a long belated newb?

Just explore man. Thea's a lot to explore. Check out out deluge of mods: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/

One my favorite part is building the communities. Down at the the bottom of the thread type my name cus I was doing a lot  of crazy settlement building.

Depending on how you like to play, start working on your weapon making attributes. A lot of the starter guns are shit but upgraded right some of them are are fucking beasts.

Scrap everything. I mean that pretty much goes for any fallout game but yeah, especially in this one. Make you a nice secured little community and start scrapping everything. The neighborhood you start off on, just scap/delete all shit and get yourself set up.

:greenthumb:

I spent a decent bit getting started at sactuary, didn't build a ton but I scrapped a lot

Decided to go a funny starting stat route and did 10 luck and intelligence :tongue2:

So I have been scrapping extra items to keep my weight down as I have like 2-3 strength. Did a little gun modding and decided I should wait until I got some better weapons.

Just played for a little so I need to find a place to sell stuff still.

I remembered I needed to try final fantasy X though as I bought the remastered version on steam as well and couldn't even play it on my old computer. After I get to a decent save point I will delve deeper into fallout 4 though.

Game is a lot of fun.  Be happy you are getting into it now tho after tooonnnnss of bug fixes, patches and changes.  Whgen it first came out it was still awesome, but had a lot of random issues that needed to be dealt with.

The settlement system is cool but was almot pointless in the very beginning.  Lot of work for no good reward.  apparently its way better now and you can do all sorts of cool shit.

The revamp to Survival mode feels better balanced than the normal difficulties
but if it is your first go, you may want to drop a save before switching it on
on the normal difficulties, enemies start to turn into real bullet sponges at higher levels
Survival helps combat to feel more lethal throughout leveling

With a Luck/Intelligence build
you will probably want to wear gear that gives Agility and Perception
Luck in terms of criticals is pretty damn powerful
so VATS is a great solution to a lot of things
Intelligence should help when you get the Automatron (if you got the DLC) radio signal
the robots that can be built get pretty ridiculous in terms of power
turned Codsworth into a pink machine of death

Fallout 76 Teaser Trailer

(figured this was the easiest way to get attention of anyone who may care)

Bethesda's E3 this year is June 10th, so presumably they will be going into more detail on what Vault 76 is
and what the time setting of the game is

no real news outta me yet,
just heard about Bethesda's 24 hour Please Stand By stream yesterday
so decided to check what was up this morning

have a great day all <3
