Should make limbs permanently losable and replace them with some sort of synth tech prosthetics ranging from crude cheap mechanical looking ones to high quality realistic flesh ones or bulky mech arms that give you strength feat bonus' Would be immersive as well to run into more npcs with lost limbs etc. some just crutching around with a pistol in one arm barely making it by - I imagine that by the end of a long campaign you'd almost be entirely cybernetic, but in a sense it's a lot more realistic than having been blasted in each limb and put back together numerous times by explosives, shotgun shells, .50 caliburs... you name it.

So, first mod up today is kind of interesting. Modders have already made equippable fashion weapons that appear on the character's back in third person. Seeking to expand that, this author has made it so weapons are removed from the holster when they become active, and reappear when holstered.
Not something I would necessarily bother with for regular play (since I play in First Person), but a neat accomplishment to bring back an older feature. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10317/?
(gif from the mod author, not mine)
And then second up today is a mod for the little things that I do obsess over anyway Handmade Unique Eyes: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10336/?
A texture replacer for all the human eyes in the game -- Ghoul eyes will be a later update. Do like to give my characters bloodshot eyes even if I never see them, and these ones turned out pretty well.
Brown bloodshot:

Green bloodshot:

Blue bloodshot:

Pretty satisfied with them, the author did good work.

And the hairstyles mod two of my characters are using has been nuked off the Nexus for copyright material apparently So here it is on Tumblr http://fo4-mischairstyle.tumblr.com/post/139169515871/mischairstyle15-download-18-new-hairs-for-male

Are you familiar with hereditary medical issues and sterility? Not having any children of my own. Not clear on what that would have to do with a Fallout 4 thread, or how I choose to identify in the Fallout universe, either. But, maybe, that explains my apathy towards the stolen baby plotline.

The mod author who made the really cool b-90 armour I showed a while back has put up a new one The Rebel: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10382/?
Works for male and female characters; uses vanilla meshes, but am working on converting it to bodyslide -- got the body done but having issues with the gloves.

The backpack and hood are separate items, if you do not wish to use them. Personally fond of the backpack style though. Overall quite well done.
And then there is Wasteland Girl Armor: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10362/?
Has a number of variations to combine.

And today I also found the idle call text to make my character use the Jet and Psycho animations on demand, so that was nice.

That portion of modding would be completely new to me, I don't even have a general understanding how of how it works though over the past few days messing with different mods and stuff I think I've began to understand it a bit. I've taught myself to do a lot of different things before I'm sure I could do this if I really wanted to, just not sure if it'd be worth all the trouble. ...
Love how the apartment turned out, the floor really brings the room together.
Think the biggest issue of complication comes in how you want to handle the modding. You could work out a system of interlocking tunnels that players can build into any location. On the other hand, after the Creation Kit drops you should be able to more or less add a tunnel system to empty worldspace wherever you want. Do not see how that would be all that different from non-loading screen housing mods in Skyrim. ...
So... Not quite sure this is what you were looking for, but someone has made an interesting headway on a similar concept.
Build your own vault: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10603/?
Adds a craftable vault elevator to settlement menu

which basically just serves as a loading door that takes the player underground to a vault entrance that leads off into empty space:

And, at that point, the settlement menu gets replaced with vault pieces that snap together in the empty space. Some are easier to snap than others, but think with a bit of practice I could make something more serious.

but going to wait for a few more updates to the mod before making any regular use of it.
And just a grab bag of other things.
Scouter: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10566/?

Adds +2 perception and has craftable components for radar blips, life detect and night vision.
Also highly suggest anyone using Nuclear Weather update to the newest version; he added two new weathers (a second snow storm with different snow graphics, and a "Heatwave" which amps up godrays everywhere and gives a sort of wavy haze...like heat rising off pavement), as well as really touched up the firestorm graphics.

And to help enhance the wasteland with minor tweaks 4k rock retextures: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10329/?
A great vine replacer: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10436/? Comes in green or brown -- the brown works for anyone who does not want to make the wasteland look living, but still wants the vines to look better than a mass of pixels.

First DLC trailer was released today:
Some really neat robot designs in there. Makes me glad my main character is my Intelligence/Scientist spec.
A lot of scenes of the robots fighting each other though -- not sure if that is 100% necessary, or if they did it to make the advertisement more reflective of Todds feelings that it is like Pokémon.
Am ready to slap Protectron Medic arms on Sentry Bot torsos with Miss Nanny legs and jet booster to make the most terrifying nurses ever to tend to my hospitals.

And just one mod today, no screenshots at the moment Tumbajamba's Power Armor for Strong: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10887/?
Do not personally travel with Strong really, so have not tested this a ton on mine yet. Really like the design though -- looks a lot like Frank Horrigan from Fallout 2.

The mod author who brought the NCR to the Commonwealth has now brought another familiar face along.
Enclave X-02 Power Armour: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11017/

Automatron is out on Tuesday, but probably will not get a good opportunity to sit down with it until Wednesday. Expect pictures of pink robots within a week.

Tai Chi was cancelled this morning, so got a couple hours with the DLC before I have to head out to my therapist today.
Custom colours are all available right from the start.

I might be the real supervillian, because when I found out I could make more than one I briefly flashed over the idea of killing all my settlers and replacing them with robots.

Might just settle for sending everyone away from Sunshine Tidings Co-op and turning it into a hippie robot commune in honor of Professor Goodfeels.

It is almost amazing how short the DLC is in terms of quest content. A brief questline, then everything else is robot modifications. Beth better have some variety in line for Far Harbor.

Survival Mode updates hit Beta today. Am not opted in for the Beta updates, but am really tempted to opt in just to get playing it early. Some of the settings look really promising. Need to figure out a build though. My main character has so much food and water stocked up that the challenge would be missing.

I haven't played Fallout since like December or January, nor have I looked into any mods since then. Basically all I have currently is armorsmith extended + some quality of life improvements (building stuff in red areas, better defined map, dialogue change) that, more than likely, are all really outdated versions. What mods should I definitely get?
-------------------- "I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

At this point, would not be inclined to suggest anything that changes gameplay or mechanics further. Decided to peek in on the beta forums first, and there is talk of mods crashing the game to desktop -- the official notice simply says mods are not compatible and should be disabled while playtesting. Will have to see who updates what mods when it finally goes to official launch.

By the time I have time to invest in playing again, I'm going to have a whole new game to come back to.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

Between the DLC and Survival overhaul, it should be a dynamic change. In a number of ways, it starts to make it feel more like the game it 'should have been' at launch.
Despite my criticisms of how Automatron handles quests, I do really like that it fleshes out and rewards Intelligence builds more. In the past I have likened high Intelligence to having similarities with Mages. In this case, robot building reminds me of necromancy.
I know that Wasteland Workshop is supposed to be geared towards having arenas in settlements, but the recent posting of the DLC achievements (spoilered for safety and stuff):

almost seems to imply that we can tame wasteland creatures as permanent followers similar to what Automatron has allowed for Robots. Perhaps it will build on the Charisma tree.
On a somewhat unrelated note, the Fallout Storyteller series I watch put up an April Fools video I thought I would pass along.
The complete history of Fisto
"oh my god, the molly's kicking in" (debated putting it in the funnies thread, but it may fit better here)
I've been a little distracted by ESO lately -- they introduced some new mechanics to break up groups in PvP a bit, and now that they are taking hold the lag seems to be getting better.

Harvestable Cannabis: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11692/?

Will not get to really play around with it until I get back from Tai Chi as I have to head out soon. But the models look good, and it grows properly when a settler is assigned to it. Figured it could be done this way, just glad someone with more talent than me already made it work.
Quote:
You can assign settlers to work these planters which create 5 food and some happiness for your settlement
You can also harvest the planters and get a bud which heals and removes a small amount of rads as well as creates a calming effect in 25 ft radius.
Have a great day Shroomery.

Bethesda has moved the Creation Kit into Open Beta today https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/fallout-4-creation-kit/2016/04/26/114
Which is a good thing in terms of the potential quality and diversity of mods as more people pick it up and run with it. I may start fiddling with it soon myself, but will not be undertaking my larger product quite yet.
Notably though, the article confirms Xbox mods in May and Playstation in June and they put up a video referencing how they will be handled moving forward.
Interesting use of in-game menus -- am not a console gamer any longer, but this is a pretty nice step forward.

Am not expecting them to go with pay mods, at least at the start.
A news update went up on Nexus regarding the new system, and that Bethesda gave them the means to reprogram Nexus Mod Manager to function with the new system. It could be potentially interesting if they facilitate donations in a similar manner to Nexus though -- allow payments but not require them.
In mod news, Elianora has put up her first house mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12373/? She has made a number of really nice houses for Skyrim, so it is good to see her shift back to them in Fallout 4 (though she was also doing good work with clothing and armour mods while waiting on the Creation Kit).
And also, trainwiz has put up his first quest mod Ransacked Relays and Shuddersome Subways https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12101/? Planning to jump in and run through this soon but have not had the opportunity yet, though it has been up a little while. His Skyrim quests and Dwemer mods were great though, so have high hopes.
Survival mode still in Beta, so I am waiting to make a new character otherwise though -- hoping to have a bit of time before Far Harbour to level the character up for the DLC inn Survival mode as well.
