Remember hauling lumber across the city in the back of a little convertible volkswagen. Not fun. Hope you managed to get everything sorted out at the hardware stores though.

Visionary Tools said: Since 1.3 my settlement mod has been broken, it had institute walls, plate glass windows, better generators and things of that sort.
It also had planters and double beds! Does anyone have a linky to a 1.3 compatible mod that adds this stuff? It's strange, but ever since getting a lifetime membership to nexusmods, their entire site loads slowly for me.
Only ever had a month membership to Nexus to get rid of the adds, so cannot provide any feedback on if their subscription server is having problems.
If everything is broken in the settlement mod, it does sound like the older issue Shroomslip linked to. Basically one of the updates before 1.3 made it so that mods turn off whenever the launcher boots, but that just needed to be disabled to keep them running.
If it is an issue of lacking support since 1.3, not sure what to tell you. Have been using Homemaker and a bunch of DDProductions stuff fine since 1.3 went up. Ssex apparently no longer has support though.

I still got a bit more to go actually. I haven't even gotten the lumber yet, that was just tools and shit. I did pick up some really cheap ass lumber that was 70% off because it was all twisted and warped (if anything I can just use it as practice stuff without breaking my wallet). Driving it home was a daunting process. Was just tied to the roof of my car, every time I hit a bump I thought it was gonna go, but I made it home. If it weren't warped to shit it would've been "safer" because I could stack it neatly but I had to just bundle this shit up and tie it tight. That's only a portion of what I need though, so the next day or two is gonna be fun. Might see about renting a truck for an hour or whatever.

I forget what it was called, I deleted it, it did launch with the mod loaded. Oh well, hopefully there's a new settlement mod(s) with beds that aren't just tatty old matereesses.
I really don't like the post-apoc look. It's 200 years since the bombs fell. I want green trees and pretty, clean things. Not 200 year old piles of rubbish with rolled up boston bugles in them that are used as cloth, along with cigars, heh.

On an entirely different note, finally got Unique Player to work properly (it was previously fucking with my character's hand meshes), so now I got to try a bunch of the tattoo mods I wanted to.
Tattilina's Black Ink: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9346/?

Tattilina's Air Jordan: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9286/?

Tattilina's Nautical Star: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9232/?

Yakuza Tattoos for Female: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9001/?

Really like some of the artwork in them, but miss the Skyrim system of putting tattoos on as overlays and getting to pick and choose between individual tattoos. These will do for adding some character diversity for now, but would really like to get the Skyrim Suicide Girl pack up and running again. QQ
Then I swung past the lab quick just for fun, and they had a Clair Redfield outfit.

Well I wish you the best of luck messing around with it, I know when I was working at home depot we had truck rentals but seem to recall it being a price gouge.

For beds Homemaker is standard: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1478/?
It has most beds in game and a patch to be able to use Institute beds without being in the Institute. Should also have the grey/black ones from Vault 81, which is what I normally give my settlers when I am not putting down hospital beds.
Aside from that Personally use The Black Widow for my character's own beds http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7398/?
But The Lady Killer is just as stylish http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7400/?
There is also Cozy Lore Friendly Beds to make things that are less extravagant http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9221/?
And This is My Bed http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7399/? As just a general bed options, but with the ability to keep Settlers from hijacking your bed.

Now obviously they mean a more in depth version of all those listed features, but the cynical asshole in me wanted to say the game already has all those things.

But it doesn't, not in the sense that you need to sleep, eat and drink. You just have the option to. We want a survival mode where having to survive is more than just things killing you faster and stimpaks healing you slower.

Wonder what time it is in the Commonwealth.

Oh crap, it's 4:20.
Well, that means it is time to recognize another modder with far more skill than my own.
Someone added in a new consumable, Ganja Drbrandts One Puff Ganjet: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9904/?

also comes with a replacer to make it look more classic and less fusion-powered-vape

Slows time down less than Jet does, but does it for longer -- default time is 120 seconds, but this character has full Chemist perk and is wearing a BioComm modified outfit that increases Chems even longer.

Also alters the contrast and colour saturation for visual effects

So clearly people are doing things without the Creation Kit that I just can't fathom unlocking without it, so props to them.
As for the Pip Boy in my first picture, that's Mary Jane Edition Pip Boy: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9897/? Simple and stoney reskin

Am also playing around with a new weapon mod that adds a bunch of unique types of weapons to the game http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9903/? but they also appear to largely recycle existing guns in game and just apply new shots, so I'm divided on it for now.

DLC announced
https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/fallout-4-add-ons-automatron-wasteland-workshop-far-harbor-and-more/2016/02/16/77
Quote:
Automatron Price: $9.99 USD | £7.99 GBP | $16.95 AUD Release: March 2016
The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices!
Wasteland Workshop Price: $4.99 USD | £3.99 GBP | $7.95 AUD Release: April 2016
With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixie tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more!
Far Harbor Price: $24.99 USD | £19.99 GBP | $39.95 AUD Release: May 2016
A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost? Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. The choices are all yours.

First two are arguably mods, with the real extension of content coming in May. Totally knew there would be one just for the sake of expanding settlement mode.
They also say there is more coming after May, and are raising the price of the Season Pass as a result. And you can sign up for beta releases of the DLC if you so choose All meaningful details through the link.
Quote:
We’re also hard at work on the Creation Kit, which will allow you to create and play mods absolutely free. We’re currently testing both Survival Mode and the Creation Kit now, and more details will be forthcoming.
Still waiting on a release date for the Creation Kit though.

Guessing that the first DLC is in Beta at the moment; my Steam has updated to show the existence of 5 new achievements tied to it, behind spoiler tag in case anyone worries about that.
If we see it live in the first week of March, would be nice.
The naming of them suggests there may be some story content tied into the DLC.
In mod news, interesting new melee weapon up Buster Sword: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10102/?
Comes with two Materia slots, which allows the crafting of different effects. Fire Materia causes burning, chance to incinerate Ice Materia causes frost damage, chance to freeze and so forth -- the author has a variety in and I think intends to add more.
My current favourite is probably Poison, for paralysis, but the Summon materia was kind of fun for the home run effect, even though I did not manage to get the summon to proc yet.

And a mod that crafts backpacks for Dogmeat allowing him to carry more. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10111/?

Just a quick couple of small mods
As another handgun HK USP .45: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8773/?

It can be modded with a flashlight and laser (pictured), but prefer to use the longer barrel that increases range instead. Notably, as it uses .45 rounds, am sitting on excess of 4000 bullets for it.
And another pose mod went up, this one is Sitting Pose: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10183/?
Two different poses available, obviously just for screenshots and stuff.

The second and third picture also show a bit of a peek at Tattilina's Gambit Tattoos: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9836/?
Which is another really nice set.

NCR ranger mod has been updated since my last time posting it http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9034/? The mask now glows (shown) and the armour, mask, and helmet all have crafting options for them. The gloves and boots do special effects on the armour, boots require Wasteland Whisperer perk to craft mods for.

Caught wind of an interview with Todd Howard that reveals some new details about DLC, Survival mode and Creation Kit/console mods.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2016/02/22/todd-howard-discusses-fallout-4-dlc-mods-amp-survival-mode.aspx
Survival mode details
Quote:
We’re doing things like you can’t save, it only saves your game when you sleep. You can’t fast travel. There’re all of these diseases. We’re trying it all. It’s a different experience. We’re not trying to make it a ton harder. It’s harder because you’re doing more things. We want the combat to feel different, as opposed to just being a bullet sponge.
Has me a little divided with the save-on-sleep feature, but Fallout 4 is stable enough that I should survive and maybe it can dial back my insane amount of saves. If they improve on high-level combat it will be nice though, so will wait and see. Lack of mention of role-play features like eating to stave off starvation an sleeping to combat fatigue has me slightly concerned, but presuming he wanted to drop mention of something other than standard concepts. Might get on the beta test when they release it.
Notably with mods
Quote:
Our goal is between the first two DLCs. It’ll go up at that time on PC. In April. All of that stuff will go up on PC. People are beta testing it. There’ll be a lag on consoles. We want to get it up on PC and have it work. It’ll probably be a good month before it hits Xbox One, and another month for PlayStation 4.
So Creation Kit in April ( ), Xbox mods in May and PS4 mods in June, if all goes well.

Today I am thankful for something a little different; rather than a mod directly, it was a guide on mods McGamer provided a tutorial (with video) for adding custom tattos to game: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10240/?
And another modder added a set of easy-to-use tatoos that can be applied: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10246/?
But instead, I experimented a bit, then added in a number of tattoos from a Skyrim mod I enjoyed: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35677/?

Also tried porting over the tattoos from the Skyrim Suicide Girl pack, but they need to be cleaned up and upscaled before I can make them work properly in game -- the original mod is only 2k skin textures (Fallout 4 CBBE uses 4k), and there is an issue with dead space.
Damn shame, really wanted to get the Buddha tattoo out of it

Fallout 4 steam has a link to an interesting story today, with a fair bit of detail into Survival mode changes
Quote:
A chap rummaging in data fils dug up a description of Survival mode and yup, Bethesda have confirmed it’s real. They do say this is only an “early look” at the new Survival, though. “We’re still messing [with] it,” they add. “More to come!”
But here are the lines they’re thinking along, and what’s presumably coming to a beta update near you soon:
Saving Manual and quicksaving are disabled. To save your game, you’ll need to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour.
Combat Combat is more lethal for everyone. You now deal, but also take, more damage. You can increase the damage you deal even further with “Adrenaline” (see below).
Fast Travel Fast Travel is disabled. If you wish to be somewhere, you’ll have to physically travel there.
Weighted Ammo Bullets and shells now all have a small amount of weight, which varies by caliber. Heavier items such as fusion cores, rockets, and mini-nukes can really drag you down.
Compass Be sure to keep your eyes peeled, as enemies will no longer appear on your compass. As well, the distance at which locations of interest will appear has been significantly shortened.
Adrenaline Survival automatically grants the Adrenaline perk, which provides a bonus to your damage output. Unlike other perks, the only way to increase your rank of the Adrenaline perk is by getting kills (hostile or otherwise). The higher your Adrenaline rank, the higher the damage bonus. Sleeping for more than an hour, however, will cause your Adrenaline rank to lower. You can check your current Adrenaline rank at any time in the Perks section on the Stat tab in your Pip-Boy.
Wellness You’ll find it difficult to survive without taking proper care of yourself. You must stay hydrated, fed, and rested to remain combat-ready. Going for extended periods of time without food, water, or sleep will begin to adversely affect your health, hurting your SPECIAL stats, adding to your Fatigue (see “Fatigue” below), lowering your immunity (see “Sickness” below), and eventually even dealing physical damage to you.
Fatigue Fatigue works like radiation but affects your Action Points (AP) rather than your Hit Points (HP). The more Fatigue you’ve built up, the less AP you’ll have for other actions. The amount of Fatigue you’ve accumulated is displayed in red on your AP bar.
Sickness A comprised immune system and a few questionable decisions can end up getting you killed. Eating uncooked meat, drinking unpurified water, taking damage from disease-ridden sources, such as ghouls and bugs, or using harmful Chems all put your body at increased risk for various ill effects. When you are afflicted with an illness, a message will appear onscreen. You can view specifics about your current illnesses by navigating to the Status section on your Pip-Boy’s Data tab and pressing [RShoulder] to view your active effects.
Antibiotics Antibiotics, which can be crafted at Chem Stations or purchased from doctors, heal the various effects of sickness.
Bed Types The type of bed you’re sleeping in determines the length of time you are able to stay asleep. A sleeping bag will save your game and may help save your life when you’re desperate, but it will never allow for a full night’s rest and the benefits that come with it.
Crippled Limbs Crippled limbs will no longer auto-heal after combat and will remain crippled until healed by a Stimpak.
Carry Weight Exceeding your carry weight reduces your Endurance and Agility stats and periodically damages your legs and health. Think of your back!
Companions Companions will no longer automatically get back up if downed during combat and will return home if abandoned without being healed.
Enemy and Loot Repopulation Locations you’ve cleared will now repopulate enemies and loot at a significantly slower rate.
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/02/25/fallout-4-survival-mode-update/
Think the crippled limbs being healed by Stimpaks is a bit forgiving considering the overall aim, but they may get enough complaints that they bring back the need to visit doctors or sleep to heal limbs as well.
Wondering how sickness induced by chems will impact my Chemist with Chem Resistant -- interested to see if the perk mitigates disease as well; or if running around shooting up Psycho in sewers and huffing Jet in garbage dumps will still increase risk of disease even with addiction immunity.

https://www.bundlestars.com/en/dlc/fallout-4-season-pass $25 Season Pass til the price jump at the beginning of March.
-------------------- "I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."
