Makavelli, just give up already. After your other posts about complaints about the controls in our other thread in the gaming forum I switched to mouse/keyboard just to try it out and I had none of the issues you did.
I do know what your talking about with inventory being a bit cluttered, they could use an extra tab or two for further sorting, but I wouldnt go nearly so far as to say its clunky or poorly designed as I have zero problems using it. I also never have to go in and out of NPC chat to do things? You can compare your currently equipped piece to whatever is int he store with a single keypress, when crafting at the npc if you are missing a component for something you can just highlight it to see what its called then switch over to the SHOP tab to see if the vendor sells it. If not well you'd have to leave the menu/chat anyway to go find the component elsewhere anyway.
Repair works on all items in your inventorry AND equipped.
IMO I think you are personally making it out worse then it is, and I doubly think (and I said this before in the other thread) that you REALLY should try an xbox or ps3/4 controlller on your PC because it just is damn useful to have as an alternative, especially for games like this that are built for multi-platform.
Also, unlike MOST games that are multiplatform. I'm pretty sure CDPR didnt "port" this, it was built ground up for PC. A port is when its built specifically for antoher system then after the fact they try to port it over to a different platform it was not designed for, which is where you run into problems that would have been avoided if it were built specifically FOR that platform.
Finally, you can switch between keyboard/mouse and a controller on the fly in game by just pressing a button on either one. Unlike games that were built MAINLY for a controller with mouse/keyboard as an afterthought, the keybinds and the entire way the menu's pop up and work changes around when you switch to KB/mouse from gamepad or vice versa. So you cant even blame the fact that they added in controller support as the reason their controls suck, because really they don't and you just dont like the fact that you cant hit escape a bunch of times to exit a chat and instead have to actually SELECT the 'good bye' option in dialogue.....

Because Fallout 3 didn't have fucking Cazadors that's why.

take the witcher 3 for example, the controls are, beyond a doubt, DOGSHIT.
why the hell do i have to click 3 god dam times to open up a merchant, then another 2 clicks to get out, and pressing esc doesn't work, stupid stupid stupid. and for clarity i know it works inside at the shop, but then once your out u have to find a completely different button WTF jesus tell me thats not stupid
and thats all because on the consoles all u do is press down and click, but with a mouse its a pain in the ass, hitting 1 or 2 is slightly painful. there's something else that requires you to hit backspace of all things, jesus thats annoying because i can't reach it with my left without lifting
Waited for ages for GTA 5, and the wait turned out to be worth it. Graphical updates, new camera modes, additional features like the Rockstar Editor.
Hell, the Rockstar Editor alone was worth the wait.
Personally play such games with an Xbox controller for Windows though.

With morrowind graphics it causes troubles for sure.
I suppose I'm not very concerned with immersion since I'm very much looking forward to virtual reality.
Can still go back and fall into Daggerfall -- to me immersion is less about the graphics and more about the game systems and presentation. Graphics can indeed help, but they come in quite low on the list.
Of course, have issues with becoming immersed in some game worlds in general. Witcher 3 came out graphically beautiful (even after the downgrade), but the game just never quite completely draws me in because there is no sense of connection to Geralt's character for me -- this frequently happens to me when playing games with predetermined characters.
Your note about virtual reality is interesting though; one of the biggest features of using my Oculus Rift is that it dramatically increases the sense of immersion I get. Virtual reality is a compelling point of discussion in this regard actually -- in personal experience with the Oculus, generally find Oblivion to be more immersive and enjoyable than Skyrim. Skyrim looks better graphically, but Oblivion manages to give me more of a sense of being transported to another world. Reserve the right to change my sentiments on this after my computer upgrade -- perhaps just need Skyrim running more smoothly in the Oculus to enjoy it more, it can look and feel amazing in the Oculus but FPS drops have interfered with some of my gaming sessions.

It's kinda like the old XCOM games as far as the combat and movement, right?
I would highly recommend them. Fallout 1 takes a little getting used to in order to be any good at it, but its a little short. even if its only once, you kinda have to try it
Fallout 2 is yes

wait, you can play normal video games on your occulus rift? thats way cool
I spend a lot of time thinking about virtual reality, but I've never actually tried a rift or anything.
If you think its immersive with only visual and auditory information, just wait until they add tactile information to the worlds

I wonder how heavy/ungainly it is to wear? My neck feels considerably strained after a lil while by a lot of heavier production headphones etc.

Remember that ted talk where a guy controlled functions on a computer with his brain? Not telepathy, he was connected to it by sensors or something like that.
I'm thinking once this type of thing gets sophisticated enough, you won't need to be standing up and controlling the thing with gloves. Just laying down using your brain controller gizmo
This will essentially make it a lucid dream machine. Talk about immersion. And then take it to the next level immersion wise and have your real body laying in a sensory deprivation tank while you're in cyberspace.

I was considering a system even where you could integrate your real home into the game, at least in lay out - it could visually be much different, so that when you have to piss/eat/shit etc, you can do it while still being in game

Yes, many games are supported via injector -- a third party program that sets the video feed up for stereoscopic 3D on the dual screens. Personally use VorpX as it has more games supported; VorpX costs, Vireio is free but supports less games (at the time I got VorpX, Vireio did not support Oblivion). VorpX also updated to run with GTA 5 on launch day.
Got myself the Oculus Developer Kit 2. Do not actually understand programming well enough to use the software that came with it unfortunately, otherwise would be interested in perhaps making some sort of VR programs of my own.
Only problem that gets me with it is the power needed to run it -- Need to be able to do dual screens at 1920x1080 in 60FPS; dipping below 60FPS quickly gives way to Sim Sickness (it feels exactly like motion sickness, but is essentially the opposite).
Actually recently burnt out my old video card so had to order replacement. The new one got here today, just working on getting things set up then running through testing it to see how things perform. Hoping that GTA 5 will work for me, but not holding my breath as I could not afford top of the line.

It feels sort of awkward, but not excessively heavy. The most uncomfortable aspect is that having it strapped to the face can cause a lot of sweating.

Microsoft is kinda doing that with their hologoggles thing.
They're doing a Minecraft ting with it. Think its pretty much why they bought out minecraft.

-------------------- "I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

I probably won't see that deal again until way after it comes out, but I just have a really hard time throwing down money on a game without even a release date. I'm mostly waiting for WW3 to hit so I can play Fallout Reality Version.
