I was thinking what would be cool is if they had snow in thw game(I'm sure it's modded in) but instead of it being snow.it would be ash nuclear fallout.

The Snow portion of the mod actually gives me divided feelings.

Looks really interesting, and it would make things like the Christmas tree in Diamond City make more sense:

But snow in videogames always gives me a bit of a sigh during the winter months -- can go outside and see snow for miles in every direction, and spend the winter in constant aches and pains because of it. Do not want it to take up a huge part of my escapism into games. Even with Skyrim I liked to run the Tropical Skyrim mod during the winter months in order to keep from getting too depressed.
Still, it would be a really interesting project to see fully fleshed out -- if it could auto-update the environments based on the in-game clock rather than manual uninstall and install, it would be pretty cool and great for immersion factor.
Ash could be a compelling and different approach to reskinning the wasteland though. Would expect a more gritty look than snow, but perhaps a preservation of the visual "softness" of the landscape.
My new character is speccing for Commando on this playthrough.
Had avoided it on pretty much all my characters, because my concern was that automatic weapons are too much of an ammo-dump. Have been pleasantly surprised so far though; even things like the basic 10mm Pistol being converted to the Auto version is great. But one of the most interesting bonuses to me is the fact that Commando lets me do with 5 perk points what other builds need 10 perk points (into Gunslinger and Rifleman) to do.

You're rolling a character to force him into the role of automatic weapons? Why not just gain a few levels on your main character & put a few perk points into it to buff the DMG. I mean my dude has no perks into guns at all & is a master at shooting off peoples heads.
I just laugh when I see people having multiple characters on FO4 like to say they are all different when in fact, they all play the same really, its just YOU are forcing them into roles when the game is clearly made to make your character master of all with just a few DMG tweaks like Borderlands.
All you are doing is just re-playing the linear starting to the game again most side quests have 1 or 2 outcomes that are pretty similar.
This game is terrible compared to F:NV when it comes to re-play value & if you cant see that than you are milking this game for what its worth &/or are just a massive fankid.
In NV you didn't just need Charisma to pass dialog checks all your skills from your character played a role in conversations making each play through on different builds a bit more unique.
I post nothing but salt in this thread now because I'm just annoyed with how much of a let down this game was, I wanted an RPG not Borderlands.
I really hope Obsidian get a shoot at it, they are the only hope for saving Fallout now imo.

Would rather replay content with different builds and see how the content plays out differently, than pour time and points into getting everything then complain that my character is good at everything and that the game itself lacks diversity. If late game were more than just a quest grind for levels right now, would be up for the idea. DLC is still months off though, and quest mods that extend the end-game will not be out in volume until after the Creation Kit drops.
It is a largely artificial extension of play time, but part of my willingness to pick the game up in the first place was because it allows precisely for that form of extension.
Am an altoholic in general. Will have a level 264 character with maxed out everything eventually...but certainly not going to make the push towards it by spamming radiant quests over and over. If that is your preferred play style though, go nuts, I guess.

Miss the more diverse dialogue trees, but dialogue is not the only thing that defines characters. Above all, discouraged by the lack of low-intelligence dialogues and outcomes, and feel the vaguely slurred speech when the character is drunk to be a poor substitute.
More than just the impact of skills though, miss the impact that interacting with the world had on dialogue trees in the earlier games:
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Childkiller Kill children in game? Speech checks are more difficult because people think you are trash.
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Porn_Star Become a porn star? Reputation rises, but the prostitutes in town respond differently based on the character's gender. In contrast, this game does not give me any incentive to play through as both genders; have not seen any aspect of the game that my character's gender matters.
In 4, about the only time that characters really respond to me differently based on what I have done in game is after completion of the main storyline and siding with a particular faction.
Still do not support the move to a voiced protagonist, and the decreased dialogue options that came with it, but I spend enough time weaving stories for my characters in my own head that the limitations on game dialogue do not hurt me that much in the end. It is obvious Bethesda had a story they wanted to tell, and pulled the player along for the ride.
Obsidian is currently working on another project though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armored_Warfare_%28video_game%29 So am not holding out a lot of hope to see Fallout: San Francisco any time soon. Even if they do get such a project, there is no guarantee they will reverse things like the level cap removal or the voiced protagonist.

I sort of did as well. There are some things that really irritated me about it, mods fixed some of it already but it did feel like a step backwards in some ways. I still love the game and have put a lot of time into it and still plan to play an entirely new save after I finish this one to make different choices now that I know how things play out.
But stuff like being unable to craft ammo even though we have the skill set to create drugs or highly intricate modifications to weapons seems kind of stupid. I get that not just anyone is going to be able to throw bullets together but if we have those other skill sets I see no reason we wouldn't be able to make our own ammo as well. Guns not breaking down also kinda blows. I mean our power armor degrades but not our weapons? Weapon wear is pretty standard in games these days. It's sort of an odd thing to bitch about but I have hundreds of weapons I don't know what to do with. I don't even need to sell them for caps because I also have nearly 20 grand that I almost never even have to use. I've only recently been able to justify not picking up every single gun I come across and now leave behind the pipe weapons.
I mean there are things I really do not like. I still think it's game of the year material though. No game is ever going to be perfect according to my standards because I didn't design it to begin with, and I accept that. I think people like him and Maka fail to realize that.

The reason for no ammo crafting in the vanilla game is pretty simple.. they wanted to make ammo more scarce in the vanilla experience. If you could craft it you would basically have unlimited ammo.. and they know there will be mods and there's always console commands if you want them.

If you play for a while at the start without really using it except when you need it, then later on you will have a shit ton of fusion cores and you can almost purely run around in just your power armor. I pretty much have a constant 80 cores at any time and the last 2 weeks of playing around I only put on my 3 pieces of charisma clothes and no personal armor at all, then used my power armor 100% of the time to quest. I still have like 75 cores left because I always seem to find one or two when im questing somewhere with it on.
As for beating the game, I'm as bad as shroomslip with getting sidetracked. I do the same compulsive shit where I have to pick up EVERYTTHING, and when I run out of room I max out dog meat, and hopefully I'm near my quest destination by this point so I can mark it on map, then fast travel back to base, then fast travel directly back to it because its the only way I can get a quest done. So often I start out wtih the intent to do a specific quest, fast travel to the nearest spot to it, discover one building and boom, dont finish that original quest I set out on for another 3 days of playing... hahahaha

I not gonna praise a game that is just average maybe slightly above.
I'll say its a good time waster on bored days. But this is nothing to put on the pedestal & praise.
Never asked for this game to be perfect just wanted another good RPG like F:NV. If this game came out under some non-franchise title in its own world nothing to do with fallout I would think this game is awesome because I have nothing to compare it to, I would play it & think "wow this game is cool kinda like Borderlands or the newer Farcry games". But it being under the Fallout title to me it has certain things to hold up to, I mean that's what made the franchise what it is today & its basically been stripped down to some Borderlands/Farcry game painted in Fallout.
That's what I hate about this game, other than that its alright. You all re-act to my responses about the game like I think its an utter piece of shit 1/10 and fail to realize things about how the game is made when really I am saying I think its alright a solid 7.5/10 it just is a step back from previous experiences with Fallout but I know its hard to talk game banter over the net without coming off as some butthurt raging gamer-nerd.

Do you guys fast-travel everywhere? You're all so much farther than me. My most powerful gun is like 75 damage and it's a sniper rifle.
I'm still luggin my junk around. I ended up doing all deep pocketed armor so I come back with like 4000 pounds now.
Generally speaking, my fast travel is limited to being between my owned Settlements.
If a quest requires me to go to a building across the map, will go to my nearest settlement, sleep there to get the Well Rested or Lover's Embrace bonus, then walk the rest of the way to the quest zone.
Would like a mod similar to Skyrim's immersive carriages -- maybe Brahmin Caravans pulling carts that let me ride from settlement to settlement, then walk from them as exit points. That is basically what goes on in my head while I substitute in fast-travel anyway.
Looking forward to the Fallout Seasons project being completed http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5810/?

If you want something sort of equal to the carriage system from skyrim, use vertibird grenades! They only go places you can fast travel to anyway and you dont technically fast travel, so if fits in perfect with the no fast travel rules people love but still doesnt take 20 minuts to run from one side of the map to the other. I actually look for reasons to use them just because it is a lot cooler to fly over the commonwealth then just fast travel all the time, but I aint got no time to be runnin all manual labor style n shit, mostly because I oooohhh shiny.... *walks away*

I already have way more ammo than I use without ammo crafting. It's not necessary.
Some rounds I have multiple thousands of.
It would be nice if I could make some unique and different varieties of rounds tho. But not a big deal.

I have 2 of the 3 levels of the scrounger ammo perk and I also have thousands upon thousands of many types of ammo. SO much so that its my primary caps income source. I make far more selling off my ammo every time I run into a trade then I do anything else including legendary or heavily modded weapons and armor.

I've got 65k sitting around right now. And countless more in chems, guns im too lazy to sell, ammo and fusion cores etc. Hopefully they'll give me some more shit to spend it on in a DLC.
I am level 100 tho, bout ready to start a new game once I clear out the railroad end game quests.

I'm only 55 with about 32k. Also a massive stockpile of shit i keep hoarding even though I should just sell it. BUT I SWEAR ILL USE IT ONE DAY. JUST LIKE ALL THIS STUFF I BOUGHT OFF THE HOME SHOPPING NETWORK. ./hoarder.

But yeah, ammo is not NEARLY as hard to come by as they made it seem in the start of the game. For sure you do not need to craft ammo. Hell, ammo is one of the very few tiny factors that makes me even change weapons anymore. I can't seem to ever get above 200 rounds of 2mm Guass Rifle rounds.

A lot of is difficult to run out of, I do have trouble keeping enough 5.56 and shotgun shells that I have to craft it. I wasn't upset because we couldn't flat out craft ammo, I was upset that I couldn't turn my useless ammo into useful ammo. I could sell it and buy other ammo but exchange rate was pretty horrible It was just a first impression of the game when I was still low leveled. Either way, it's been fixed with a mod now so it doesn't matter. It's also only a problem early on in the game. Once you get to about level 30, you have more caps than you know what to do with and can afford to just buy thousands of rounds of ammo with no consequences to your play through.
I'm definitely going to have to find a mod that reduces the caps, chems, aid and all that shit found. I have hundreds of stimpacks and other various drugs. On my next playthrough I want to struggle a bit more, at this point even if I were broke I could probably sell all my drugs and guns for 20k+ and wouldn't struggle.

Due to a glitch in the game, by late game my characters end up with a ton of ammo like 5.56 and 5mm for the minigun.
The Legendary armor type "Duelist"

Not only does it also impact when an enemy shoots me, but every time they drop their weapon by doing so they either frenzy and melee me, or pick up their weapon again. If they pick up their weapon again, it totally restocks their ammo with the generated amount, even if they still had ammo.
Once looted a Legendary Super Mutant Master for over 5000 Minigun ammo.
The comment about exchange rate early on is something I can relate to now, but have never dealt with on my other characters -- Melee didn't use ammo, sniper kills in minimal shots, scientist just uses anything I have ammo for since she is not specced for any guns in particular. But speccing for Commando and using a 10mm Auto-Pistol for the whole early levels really drove me mad -- selling all my pipe weapon ammo + grenades and mines just to keep stocked on the ammo I was using. It was not until I got a legendary pipe rifle that things got more manageable -- not sure if they have expectations to use pipe weaponry early on, or if it is just a product of the way enemies scale and their loot tables this time around. This has been my first playthrough where I have actually engaged with the shopkeeps though -- every other character has felt so self-contained just via looting that they have not spoken to shops for anything other than quests.
Boston Wanderer has settings in it to decrease the spawn rate of stimpaks and chems, so the author may be the one to poke and ask if that feature can be made stand-alone like Deadly Radiation was. He is currently making Boston Wanderer more adjustable in terms of settings, but there is probably still stuff in the mod you might not want to deal with.

I finally got my police station fixed. I just played side missions until they airplane thing overhead came by telling everyone to report to the police station. I walked right in with no glitching.
Needless to say, I cleared all the junk and put it in a container. Not doing that again!
