You can body slam people, even. It happens sometimes when I gun bash people, but I honestly can't figure out the exact right moment to do it. It just happens sometimes when I bash.
It seems to happen the most for me when I knock down or stagger someone then power attack (with melee weapon or bare hands) or bash (same button but gun equipped)
I've seen valentine do it once but that was it. It seems to be more common with NPC's that use melee weapons or pistols. I think with a rifle it just never happens or cant happen?
My guess is higher stregnth levels are more likely to trigger it. I've never seen it though so idk.

Nah I've done it with a rifle before, one time I thought I figured it out when I was able to do it by double tapping power attack but that only worked once. Kinda confounding.

No, you can do it with any ranged weapon. I dunno what button it is on console but on PC it's a quick tap of left ALT (holding it is for grenades/mines).

Well you asked if bash was a str perk or something. I guess you meant the body slam, what you asked makes more sense that way.
I dunno, I've never seen it happen either. I didn't even know getting picked up and thrown around was possible in this game until I came across some legendary deathclaw. I dunno if they all do it, but he picked my ass up and threw me to the ground and there's nothing (that I figured out) you can do about it except don't let him get that close to you. When it first happened I was getting ready to reload my save because I thought for sure that was like Dragon Age's equivalent of dragons being able to pick you up and toss you around (at least I think I remember that happening, may of been a different game) where it takes a huge fucking chunk of your health.

All of them can do it, seems to be more common occurrence while wearing Power Armor.
My solution to Deathclaws is the same as any other significant issue though. Cripple the legs.
With one crippled they limp around pretty pathetically

But with both crippled, they lay on the ground floundering until they are put out of their misery

Not quite as ridiculous as the Dart Gun in Fallout 3, but still turns them into chumps.

My solution is just don't get caught in the open by them. They're big, they can't fit in doors. I've only encountered 4 so far, 2 I stood about a foot inside a doorway and just blasted the shit out of them with my highest damage weapon, 1 I did from inside of a bus. The other one, caught me on the roof during some mission and there really was nowhere to hide. I spammed a bunch of drugs and just dumped a huge chunk of ammo into it while watching my health carefully.
I never really think to cripple legs or anything, I'm a long term FPSer and when the shooting happens instincts take over and my instinct is 100% of the time to shoot whatever it is in the face until dead. For the most part that serves me well. Very few things live long enough to be much of a threat to me. The vast majority of the corpses I leave behind are headless

Hey SweetLeaf I just checked up on the mod you posted the other day, and Spectacle has been added. 2 other settlements as well. Haven't had time to sit down and play at all today and probably won't get much time, looking forward to building out my island very soon though.

Is it weird that I habitually approach the corpses of tougher enemies and fire 1-3 rounds into their head and chest or slice their body into its component parts to 'make sure they're dead'? Any enemy that actually manages or succeeds in killing me generally gets reduced to a bunch of chunks afterward.

I confess that I love them. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

Does upgrading intelligence outweigh the idiot savant perk in terms of xp gained? I got 2 int and 8 luck with max savant, so i kinda wanna wait and do int last, but it sucks cause i really wanna get science perk so i can start actually upgrading all my shit.

As in... you will definitely get the most XP from not having int, but you can still be really close to it (because 1 int = +3% more XP anyway)
He found it procs a lot less as you get more int though
I modded my game though. Each int gives +10% more XP for me instead of 3%

Im not even bothering with settlement building really until i get whatever perk lets you share resources throughout all the settlements. I have over 2k lbs of junk in sanctuary and it's still rising. I think i might stock up on buffout and drop everything somewhere and just spend a day picking up EVERY piece of junk i see, in whatever area seems to have the most diverse junk.

You made me curious so I went to look. At the truck stop (my main base of operations) I have 6,317 pounds of shit. When I go to a location and the task is to clear out the enemies, I also clear out all the junk, even if it takes multiple trips.
Though things got easier when I got all 4 parts of strong back or whatever it's called. The first two are just 25 and 50 pounds of additional carry weight. 3rd lets you run using AP when over encumbered. 4th lets you fast travel. Now all I have to do is clear the place out of enemies, find some file cabinet or storage chest near the front door, drop off all but my weapons and armor, go back through collect more, and repeat til it's cleared, pick it all up and go out the door. I can then teleport directly to my work bench whether I have 300 pounds or 900 pounds.

Regarding the earlier discussion of body slams

or, what appears to be a tactical takedown feature.
Spent the past 30-40 minutes testing this, and I seem to have gotten it down.
Basically have to be in extremely close proximity to an enemy and moving forward...basically grinding on them in combat. Enemy has to be facing me, won't work from the side or from behind. Enemy has to have sufficient health that a power attack won't result in a kill move instead, or the kill move overrides the tactical takedown -- anything that can be one-shotted or was already at low enough health to be killed could not seem to be hit with a body slam.
With all that accounted for, activating the bash key while moving forward at extremely close range fairly consistently results in a tactical takedown of some sort. There does not seem to be consistency beyond that. Animations are random, some do damage, others do not.
Have seen the body slam,
a leg sweep

Bending down and flipping an enemy off his feet with one hand

a sort of one-two punch with left fist then right fist

And a few others where the animation happened too quickly or too infrequently for me to get a screenshot. Included: - holding my fists up and dodging like a boxer before punching the dude in the face - a kick to the stomach that temporarily makes him double over - my favourite, a double sucker punch to the chin with the left fist followed by a clothesline with the right arm.
Did not do formal testing with a gun equipped, but surprisingly good fun on a melee character.

Thanks for taking the time to play with it. I'm gonna try this out now. Could be fun charging people and taking them down and popping their heads off while they lay on the ground. Assuming this does work the same with a gun equipped. Otherwise it won't be much use to me I refuse to use melee in Fallout. Have since 3, I'm not starting now. I'm sure I'll get plenty of melee in the next ES.

Confirmed for guns, possibly easier to pull off as bash with a gun doesn't do much damage to worry about kill move activation.
With a pistol equipped, got a couple shots of the punch/clothesline combo:

And with a rifle equipped, got a shot of the bend-flip

was also able to do body-slams, stomach kicks -- basically saw everything but the boxing dodge, and I only saw that once on my melee character as well, so it might just be rare.

Works with a weapon. Was hard for me to get it to trigger, but did it eventually, with a combat shotgun. Happened pretty fast (and wasn't expecting it to work at this point) so I'm not positive on how accurate my take on the animation was, but I think I hit them in the face, did a half leg sweep type thing and hit them in the chest with the butt of the gun to throw them to the ground harder.
EDIT: You beat me while I was writing up the post
