Just got the alien blaster. I fast traveled somewhere for a quest for railroad and there was a white flash and sounded like a fatman went off looked up and didn't see anything. Googled where to find the crash site and went there and found it. Got the alien blaster. Pretty cool how they did it in this game.

Where's a good place to find fusion cores? Is there a reliable way to get a lot of 'em? People say they are everywhere but hell my luck is horrible..

Look for big yellow machines making a lot of noise, usually semi fenced in by degraded chain link fencing. That's where I find the majority of mine. They are everywhere

i think luck increases how many you find because the first play through i had like 5, this time i had about 20 around the same number of hours.  im sure i went to a few different places, but the main difference is going from 1 luck to 10

I find most of them in random footlockers lol. I found 9 in the span of an hour once just from footlockers.

Yeah I'm not very deep into the game. This morning is my first real chance to be playing it. Yeah I've been exploring like every building but fuck, the inventory just gets filled too fast. Got the loner perk for the extra carry weight too.

I really have no idea what the fuck to do perk-wise. I went an int/CH build with 3 str/4 per/10 int/6ch/3 luck/ 1 agility

I wish I had that 7 agility though for sneak attacks... that looks really good. I feel like I kinda fucked up lol

....should I spend 6 levels to level up agility..? I took the lockpick and hacker perks as well and gun nut.

Any perk recommendations?

Haha, I have like 60 fusion cores right now. I'm level 76 tho.

Since you're 10 int I would definitely recommend the chemist perk, the one that extends the duration of chems. Full ranks of that is 200% longer, which makes jet a shitload of bullet time, and the chems that actually last awhile last for ages.

Sneak is definitely very powerful in this game, you wouldn't be wasting those points dumping them into agi but I would have started with more agi in the first place.

The 1 int perk and the 3 perception perk. The former more so than the latter. It's a godsend for those missions where you have to clear out an area and you can't find that last bastard hiding somewhere, or when you're lost in a giant ruined building.

going int/ch gives you a hard game, going str/agility makes it too easy.  i think i have around 450 carry weigh and all i have is the loner perk, if i did the strength carry weight perk id have another 100 or so

long as you feel like you can keep progressing, just keep playing, if you think its getting hard which is what it sounds like, you really do need to drop some points into agility so you can make more attacks, don't underestimate the resistance perks and endurance which actually might help more

If you plan to get involved in settlements, start building up chr and get the local leader perk going (caps collector too). If that's not a big concern for you, I'd start working on getting armor/weapon build perks up as soon as possible. A lot of the early weapons suck ass when not modded heavily, and the better weapons still aren't too great without mods. You can mod weapons with no perks, but you first have to find a gun with a mod and install the "base mod" to whatever it is, and then that upgraded mod is added to your inventory, you don't need any skill at all to apply weapon mods. But finding some good ones can be hard sometimes. I love the silencers but didn't even start finding them until my mid 20's.

Other than the usual stuff, like carry weight and locking picking or terminal hacking.

When i started the game out i couldn't find any, so i just dumped the power armor for about 8 hours then decided to climb in some again and had 15. I feel like once you have 15 you can pretty much just use power armor all the time and keep finding enough that you won't run out.

Also something i do, is i have my follower wear the armor then climb in it when i need it. This way i always have it with me and it doesn't use up fusion cores.

I haven't really used it much. I never cared much for it past Fallout games either. I have like 4 or 5 suits that I've found while traveling the world sitting in my garage at the truck stop. I find one while doing a mission, I get in it, finish the mission then take it home and park it and never touch it again.

Nah I don't think it's hard. I don't need VATS or anything much. Tactics and sneaking around can make up for lack of dmg resistance / AP except for those fucked situations where the game forces you to fight something right in front of you lol

Just sucks right now because no access to a silencer or anything so when shots fired, everyone knows

I'm not worried about not being able to progress... just really useful early on perks

Is scrounger and the like worth it?

I definitely am trying to learn how the settlements work. I can't fucking find concrete though....

Definitely Chemist on an Intelligence build.  Jet spam is super overpowered, just emptying full clips into enemies and dodging their bullets.

If Fusion Cores are really a big issue, Nuclear Physicist at Intelligence 9 makes a big difference as well.

In the same boat, sitting on 60-70 Fusion Cores -- find them faster than I use them, so sometimes I use the perk to shoot them off as grenades.

Go to a settlement and complete whatever prerequisite is needed to access the workshop, then start scrapping all the junk for build material, then start building it up. Too long ago I can't remember but I don't think I just randomly came across the minutemen quest line, that lead to the first settlement for me.

It's definitely not a material I use regularly and you can get it by scrapping concrete blocks, there's usually at least a pile or two of them in the settlement somewhere. There are also bags of cement scattered around the place, they're heavy though and kill your carrying capacity, since it doesn't seem to be commonly used, I haven't really bothered with them.

The biggest things settlements use IME is copper, ceramic, nuclear material, wood, steel, cloth (beds) and random harvested vegetables/fruit. Circuitry and gears is another big one I use a lot of, but mostly because I throw turrets up all over the damn place.

Also I felt the scrapper perk was more worthwhile than the scrounger one. Worst case scenario you'll probably have a bunch of one type of ammo you don't use and can sell to buy ammo.. Get the most out of scrapping weapons and shit is far more valuable.
