its never to the benefit of pc users because then you know the game was never meant for pc and its a gimped port that needs work just to function on pc, and then when they finish with it, the UI looks like shit and the controls don't make sense
take the witcher 3 for example, the controls are, beyond a doubt, DOGSHIT.
why the hell do i have to click 3 god dam times to open up a merchant, then another 2 clicks to get out, and pressing esc doesn't work, stupid stupid stupid. and for clarity i know it works inside at the shop, but then once your out u have to find a completely different button WTF jesus tell me thats not stupid
and thats all because on the consoles all u do is press down and click, but with a mouse its a pain in the ass, hitting 1 or 2 is slightly painful. there's something else that requires you to hit backspace of all things, jesus thats annoying because i can't reach it with my left without lifting

Just a heads up to everyone, GOG is having a sale. I just bought a couple 20$ games at 75-90% off.
Got 2 Stalker games for 10$ and some other random cool looking games for 2$ a piece.

I would say that is a pretty limited view on things. That's more a problem of them having to dumb down games for a wider audience, and clunky games in general than anything specific to ports. Also just because a game is designed to be played (or is better with) on a gamepad that doesn't mean it is better suited for consoles overall because you can get controllers for PC.
Sometimes it is more complex writing a PC game because they have to work out things for as many possible different PC setups as possible. Of course they want to get their game out and make money, but I think it is better when they take their time and do it right. People will always bitch and complain because they have to wait for a video game, but honestly those people need to get a life.

Meh. I just started seriously pc gaming now that I got a rig that can run anything. I got a controller especially made for games like Fallout. I actually got skyrim but I haven't played it much. I beat it several times before so I already know everything there is to do so it's just boring now.

Going to have to end up upgrading my computer to use my Oculus with this most likely. Going to be so worth it though.

for real, its weird that someone wouldn't be willing to wait for a game. Like, do you want it to be a quality game?

Saw the trailer on YouTube - it looks like shit visually. which doesn't mean much, except that's all we have to go off of with a trailer.
Come on, were on a new console generation and the textures are still as grainy as every? The dog looks pretty bad, and that's the focal point of half of the trailer. Not to mention that this is the part of the game they decided to show off early...
The gameplay may be another story I'm sure. Just had to vent because no one else seems to notice. First impression is that graphics really haven't gone anywhere with this installment.

Naw I agree - I didn't want to say much to take away the hype - but considering the almost half a decade they've had to dev - the upgrade in graphics/aesthetics seems quite minimal and not even up to par with like.. Witcher 2
But I'm fine with it not being the sparkliest game ever, there's many ways a game can win my heart and graphics usually aren't the foremost

Agree/disagree Really freakin' good graphics can really assist immersion - if they don't take away from other aspects of development its a great thing.. but the compromise can suck.

definitely assists immersion. agree there
Ever since I played a little game called nethack I care less about graphics. (free online if you want to play, you can play for years without beating it)Any time put into graphics development is time not spent on game-play development.

I love roguelikes like nethack as well! Dungeon crawl stone soup has long been one of my favorites..
Its kinda nice to have games on both sides of the spectrum really, graphics aren't at all a necessity - but its fun and refreshing to have some games that do have shineys

It is still nice from time to time for sure.
If you guys are fans of rogue-likes, there's this game called "cataclysm: dark days ahead (dda)"
Its a zombie survival rogue-like, still being updated with new stuff pretty often. You can do all kinds of stuff, damn near anything you can think of, all with a modern twist.
Haven't gone back to nethack much since I found cataclysm. games addictinggg

when you've been gaming your entire life, when u see shit like what i pointed out, it annoys the hell out of you, takes the immersion out of the games. and it screams lazy developer who don't care about the pc crowd
not sure why pointing it out bothers you so much, or is it because now you notice it and now it annoys you too maybe?
