I have a similar problem with Preston Garvey from the Minutemen.

I completed one of his quests to discover a settlement and accidentally walked away too quickly and lost the dialogue. And now i can only assist settlements that ive already won over

For awhile i thought i was mistaken, and just needed to do more quests but after doing about 10-12 quests just killing ghouls and raiders, its pretty obvious that ive glitched out a quest line
several of these raider/ghoul quests were for Sanctuary hills, which makes me think they are randomly generated

Its really blocking me up because there are several settlements that can only be accessed with the Minutemen discovery quests

Cannot guarantee it is the case yet, but it seems after a certain threshold of quests Preston stops giving new ones.
Have not gotten anything for new settlements from him in quite some time; however, tuning in to Radio Freedom has been sending me to a number of settlements I did not know about (though it sometimes gives me repeats as well).
Basically have to hold 3 quests in my log on their final step so they say "return to Preston" in order for the radio to stop spamming me with quests and just play music though.

Will also occasionally stop in at one of the settlements I already own and have a resident there tell me they know a nearby settlement that would work well for someone if I clear it out.

Preston still sends me to one of my known settlements if I turn in a quest and talk to him right after.
I also get quests in Sanctuary from time to time as well, so it is definitely randomized in some form.
"We've been having problems with raiders harassing and stealing from us..." Dude, I set up like...a gazillion turrets that gun down hostiles, are you inviting these people in to raid you or something?

One quest i had an issue with was one of the first few for BOS. I had to turn in to paladin danse and i had him as a companion and the dialog for turning in wouldn't trigger. Apparently i had to turn into cammander kells at the prydwen since i got him as a follower.

I think I'm on the final story mission now judging from the trophies, mission title :the nuclear option. Time to do everything BUT that.

This game is daunting how massive it is. The thing i love about fallout games is just the very start. Where do i go to start? FUCKING ANYWHERE! Like that first moment you escaped the vault in fallout 3, and your just standing there.

I found out what happened to the hippie robot in that one settlement, because I got there today and soon after I started building the place up, he disappeared. I haven't confirmed because I don't know where the place is, but the computer logs talk about how after the people kidnapped him and brought him there, he kept trying to go back home. Pretty sure if you find his "home" you'll find him there. I imagine there's some quest you can do or check you can pass to get him to go back permanently. I didn't mess with his subroutines or whatever because after reading that I figured that'd make him go back, but he left anyways. If you try to change his subroutines after he disappears, it says pinging and then says there's no units nearby.

Nuclear Option was the one I finished as well.  Rhys and Haylen both had unique dialogue after the completion, then they started finishing and taking quests again.
Guessing that is probably what has them glitching out for you as well.  Wrote Bethesda a bug report about it back when I encountered it.

Think the game has four possible endings, depending on who the player aligns with most significantly.  Will be finding out on my second character.

Back on my melee character again, so the following is fairly significant Curie companion quest spoilers, if anyone wants to avoid those:

The procedure was a success, she is a fully functioning Synth now.
But now I have to worry about giving her weapons and stuff.

Did all of you settlement builders check out the subreddit I posted in the other fallout4 thread that is specific to settlement building and stuff?  There is a new trick that allows you to basically clip stuff into other stuff, like the houses in sanctuary, so finally you can get some walls in those houses to sort of 'fix them up'.

If you place a door mat or small rug next to a placed wall or series of walls, then hold the placement button (A on a controller) you mass select it all, and because of the way rugs/mats work with allowing things to clip on them and stuff, you can now move the whole shebang inside a broken wall of the sanctuary house, or other places.

Link to the subreddit for settlements:

https://www.reddit.com/r/falloutsettlements/

here is a video on how to do the rug clipping thing to do things like clip your placed walls into prebuilt map structures.

I'd actually already figured out by accident you can move entire structures. Don't remember how it exactly I stumbled on it, but ended up holding E on some part of my structure I wanted to change and saw I could move the entire damn thing as one unit.

I've found a better place to build than sanctuary though. Can't remember the name, but it's basically got plenty of wide space for farming and that's what I'm working on now, setting up a nice organized farm. It's surrounded by a ring of buildings and I've put turrets and spot lights on the roofs in key locations. Basically anyone who steps foot in there that isn't supposed to be is going to get destroyed  I went a little overboard with it, and have actually managed to deplete a lot of my materials on building this place up. Still pretty bare, most of that just went into defenses and I'm still working on it now. This new place is a lot more like what I wanted to build on. Not some suburb with pavement and houses everywhere. Has a nice little warehouse in the middle I can put all the crafting tools in as well.

Only problem I'm having so far is that supply line isn't working right. Is it just a certain percentage per day or something you get access to? I know the original problem was that they share raw materials but not junk, so I spent half an hour at my main junk drop off throwing the shit on the ground and scrapping it to base materials, but I do not have access to even a good portion of it at the new place.

It shares all junk you do not have to scrap stuff manually for local leader perk to share with a supply line.  Are you sure you set up a supply line?  You have to do it from each settlement you want shared, but it doesnt matter what pathway you use to do so.  I.e. I setup ALLLL my supply lines from sanctuary out to my other settlement spots, but some people do a ring-style network where one settlement connects to the next then that next one connects to the next, through all of them.

Any items you place in the workshop that are NOT junk will not be shared.  Also you cannot SEE items stored in another settlements workshop, even junk, but the junk will be available to turn into materials remotely even tho you cant see it in the list of stuff.

For example if you have 2 settlements linked with a supply line both with empty workshops.  You can put a pile of metal buckets in one workshop, then go to the other settlement and build something that only required steel and it will deconstruct the buckets from the other settlement and turn them into steel.

but if you put a pipe pistol in the workshop you cannot see it nor access it in any way remotely.

Food and water are the exception as they are shared between settlements with local leader perk.

Positive I set up a supply line, I checked it on the map. Materials from junk do not show up in the connected workshops (to be specific, workshops from different settlements, ones in the same settlement do all share with no perk). Once I converted everything to basic scrap, it showed up. I later figured out it the scrap would not show up in the workshop from another place, but you could still use it to build. HOWEVER, when it was all junk, I was not allowed to build things that required unbroken down junk scrap I didn't have in that settlement workshop or wasn't a base scrap in another. Namely copper and crystal. In the settlement I was in, it was showing I had none, but I knew I had it in the other settlement. I went back to check, and had hundreds of both, but it was all from junk. Once I broke it all down to base, the new settlement showed I had hundreds when trying to build something that used them.

How come everytime I fast travel to one of my settlements all of the defenses are broken? Litterally every time. It costs so many bottle caps to keep them fixed that I had to start glitching caps to get shipments of supplies.

I didn't even know they could break. I have not had that happen yet.

If that is a possibility my only guess is you're getting overrun by raiders or other enemies. Just going by my gut, but if that is what is happening, I'd assume you have too few people and defenses in the settlement to successfully resist. The answer would be get more people, or build better defenses (not just higher grade ones, but more strategically placed ones). Create only a few places to really get in, and stack on multiple layers of defense to take down all the things running through that bottleneck.

Most of my settlements have 19 people in and I always wall off everything other than one enterance then spam turrets there. I'm guessing it's just a glitch. Ever since I left vault 111 the game has been riddled with glitches and has crashed 3 times (Xbox one ) so I'll just chalk it up to that. My crops keep getting destroyed too. I'll probably just abandon all the settlements if I don't find a way to stop it. Or I'll kill everyone in their sleep and eat them.

Clawing my way through the story again on my second character, but taking a different path this time.

Interested to see how each of the endings turn out and how they compare.
