(Minor spoilers?)

So i attacked and downed a vertibird, and killed 2 brotherhood of steel guys. I did it so i could get their power armour (T-60).

Will this effect my relationship with them futher in the game? I can always reload because i saved right before attacking them. But i really want their armour lol.

I don't think it will, I killed a BoS guy to get his black uniform and nothing happened. I did do it in stealth mode though.

Idc though i like that armour enough to face the consequences if there are any.

Also eyeing up dragon age inquisiton. How would you guys compare dragon age inquistion to fallout 4 for my next RPG after the Witcher and Skyrim?

The one thing is I do like shooting, which is notably lacking from the witcher 3 (crossbow seems pointlessly weak)

Mass effect is my other favorite series so maybe fallout 4 would be sweet but I have heard great things of dragon age inquisiton as well.

I preferred Dragon Age: Inquisition to Witcher 3, but it trailed a bit behind Skyrim in replayability.
My first character was a Rogue with a bow, and I spent roughly 110-120 hours on her before finishing everything and rolling up a Dwarf Warrior with a battleaxe.
Then eventually a mage, and another rogue to try melee...I like character building a lot.

Gameplay mechanics were a nice mesh between older rpgs and newer active-combat rpgs; the ability to swap to other characters in the party or go into strategic view and assign targets and attacks was nice and gave a tactical edge to things.  The player "is" only the main character, but has a general level of control over a party of four characters at a given time.

My favourite part of Dragon Age is arguably the setting/lore though...Skyrim I first started playing when I was living with roommates in Saskatoon; both of them came from Norwegian backgrounds, so they liked the cultural style of Skyrim's NPCs and locations.
Personally felt similar about Dragon Age due to it drawing on Celtic and Gallic influences.

In a comparison with the other three titles listed, Fallout 4 plays the most like Skyrim and feels like it offers the most character flexibility.
Dragon Age, a Rogue can swap between dual wielding or bows at any time, but can never respec into a Warrior or Mage.  Fallout, can swap from hand guns to rocket launchers to melee to lasers and back again at any time.

The setting of Dragon Age reminds me more of Skyrim, while the setting of Fallout reminds me more of Witcher 3.
Dragon Age and Skyrim had implications of war, poverty, starvation -- a sort of implied bleakness that never really got intrusive.
Fallout and Witcher have a lot more in-your-face bleakness to them; Witcher 3 showed a lot of the horrors of medieval war (mercenaries seeking to gang-rape young women, dead bodies everywhere, everyone caught up in death and disease) whereas Fallout shows many of the horrors of modern war (nuclear fallout, skeletons of pre-war people everywhere, a general lawlessness and lack of morality in the wasteland).  Times and settings change, but war...war never changes.

Would consider Dragon Age the "brightest" in terms of areas and content.  Those areas are also the most constrained though -- Dragon Age uses pre-constructed areas rather than active weather; moving from map to map gives a feel of changing weather but, for example, the Storm Coast never stops raining, whereas Val Royeaux never rains.

Fallout 4 does, however, feel a lot more uplifting and hopeful than it seems at first glance.
The setting being hundreds of years after the war makes the focus more on how humanity has survived, persevered and how people find hope.  Creatures in the wasteland are mutated version of previous creatures (such as two-headed Radstags being the equivalent of Skyrims deer and elk), and new forms of plant life are starting to grow back.
As much as the game is set as a post-apocalyptic world that shows the horrors of nuclear war, it is as much an examination of how life finds a way despite the most terrible odds.

Loved my time with Dragon Age, but if Fallout 4 had come out first I may have never managed to get to playing Dragon Age due to being so caught up in Fallout.

Also, as a less pertinent aside -- Skyrim and Fallout give me a more immersive and real feeling to gameplay than Dragon Age or Witcher.  Part of that is the execution of the world and ability to largely control character development, but a good part is also that I just feel more in the world from first person views.
Really need to boot up my Oculus to jump into a VR wasteland.  It apparently already has VorpX support, but I have been so caught up in playing I have yet to boot it up.  Maybe I will even do that tonight with a new character.

I had severe trouble getting into Inquisition. I still have my save file that's about halfway through the game, and intend to go back and finish it at some point. Actually the first one was the only one I felt compelled to keep playing. I actually loved the first one so much I ended up going through it 6 times back to back. I was highly disappointed with 2 but did finish it. I remember thinking Inquisition seemed a little better than 2, but with the foul taste of the bullshit that was 2 still pretty fresh in my mouth, it would have had to been pretty damn awesome to recover IMO. It just wasn't. Too bad really.. If the sequels had been able to hold up to the first, that franchise could've been huge. Just my opinion of course, but I'm far from the only one to have a severe distaste of 2. I'm also not the only person to find Inquisition lacking compared to Origins.

My main issues with this game is when I really think about it, if I played this in forced first person it's really not that different to Borderlands except that game has more guns.
The dialog options are fucking weak & I don't really know what the fuck I am going to say half the time. I hate how I am forced into the roll of some caring father right from the start of the game rather then just some vault dweller.
They have striped the game of its core RPG mechanics (Karma, Skills, crits randomly outside of VATS) the modding for weapons is a joke, all the mods are just ranked up versions of each other, at the end of the day your going to mod it to the last choice of strongest automatic or semi-auto you cant really make your gun feel unique by say adding various types of damage or even a burst fire option.

I was inlove with this game at first glance but playing it more it has a repeating/hollow feeling to it. For example I just about know what I'm running to when I see a little farm icon on my HUD, it means some stupid rehashed quest to make them join the minute men.
Its no were near the best Fallout game, Its mediocre.
But hey man you go ahead & love the death outta it I'm glad none it bothers you.
I also never once said I wanted this game to be perfect but fuck I wanted it to be as good as NV.

I can understand some of your points.
You also have to keep in mind though that Bethesda did not make NV.. Obsidian actually developed it.. Bethesda just published it. So it's about right that it's going to have a different feel than NV. Last Fallout Bethesda made was 3.

Skills I was a little miffed about at first.. but it doesn't bother me at all now. I actually like the perk system for skills.

Not sure at all what you mean about all the mods are just ranked up versions of each other.. that's not true at all...
Scopes.. there's iron sights, reflex sights..night vision, short, medium and long range scopes.. holo/homing computers for some missile launchers I think.. recon scopes.. tons of different ones for different styles of combat and types of weapons..
Receivers.. there's receivers that do more damage, better rate of fire, better crit damage, reduced damage but changes your ammo type.. mods that ADD BURNING DAMAGE to some weapons, tons of different styles...
Barrels there's tons of different ones.. increase hip-fire accuracy.. better range and accuracy and recoil but worse hip-fire accuracy, Improved rate of fire, Improved range and sighted accuracy but worse recoil, hip-fire accuracy and reduced ammo capacity... etc etc etc...

The list goes on and on. The mods you can use depends on the weapon and your points in the Gun Nut perk... there are completely different mods for different weapon types.
They are most definitely not just "upgrades" of the previous mod. Some mods provide a single certain benefit, others provide a different one. Some mods add several benefits but make some things worse, so it's a trade off. Some mods change how the gun functions. So no.. they are not all the same at all... not even close. Yes.. there are "upgraded" versions of some mods when you get more points in gun nut.. like "Long barrel" (+damage) and then "Improved Long barrel" (++ damage)... but most of the mods are different and changes how the gun works, it depends on your playstyle and how you want the gun to function. It's not just a matter of "pick the top level mod" because they definitely are not all the same.

Call it a joke if you like, but I think you just haven't explored the modding system that much. You can drastically change guns in many different ways.

But hey, go ahead and hate the game if you want... different strokes for different folks.
I just think some of your arguments for WHY it sucks are pretty weak.
But that's your opinion so whatever. Just when your opinion is wrong... like all mods are the same.. and it's nothing but minute men quests apparently?

Borderlands really? Those games, while good.. have a completely different feel. And are much more cartoonish.

I don't hate this game I just don't think its deserving of GOTY because it feels like its still in early access to me.
This game at most is a solid 7.5/10.
Not shit but not great, just good.

I actually still haven't played Inquisition, but DA: Origins was pretty much unbeatable as far as I'm concerned. The combat was excellent (especially with some of the mods that let you actually set your characters tactics in advance to auto-respond to certain things. My physical attackers smashing enemies after my mages freeze/paralyze/petrify them and things like that) and the character building was amazing. All of the origins allow for a lot of different responses throughout the game too. Characters would all respond to you significantly differently (and your responses to them differ in return in many cases) depending on your gender and your origin. Loved my playthroughs as a hella racist, apathetic Dalish elf or a female elven mage (for that triple whammy of hate and discrimination from EVERYONE) The Awakening DLC was pretty good too, though the vast majority of the remaining DLC was worthless shit.

I DESPISED DA2 for a long time after it came out. I still hate its combat and the fact its got such a limited environment, but after a fairly recent replay I've come to appreciate how strong its story/character development are, though admittedly Hawke feels like a bit of a downgrade compared to The Warden. Pantshittingly scary badass that they (The Warden) wind up being. I mean...the guy/girl wandered around the country and basically slaughtered everyone that stood in their way while they were marked for death by the ruler of the country and god knows how many other people. Archdemon? Dead. Darkspawn? Dead. Arl Rendon Howe? Dead. Tevinter blood mages? Dead. Orlesian bardmaster? Dead. Horrifying eldritch abominations? Dead. High Dragon + Dragon cultists? Dead. Bandits? Dead. Smugglers? Dead. Bounty hunters? Dead. Assassins? De...recruited. It's honestly kind of funny when you're at the end of the game and are roaming around Denerim and get attacked by random bandits despite the fact you should be one of the most recognizable, terrifying people in the entire world at that point.

Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

Yep. Or if I spend 45 or minutes on one like that mother crab I turn the settings to very easy briefly. Played this game so much lately I see people in the real world and they feel like characters in this game.

Just following my brother in a hike in a canyon, seeing him ahead of me, felt like the trees and him were in a virtual reality but recognizing it of course.

Strange how the mind percieves.

"Turn into" not quite.
My character is a Chemist and Chem Resistant, so I spam them pretty liberally.
I do certainly use more all at once when fighting something terrifying though.

My first character may be getting turned into a melee character.  I just picked up a legendary cane off of a mole rat, and I love fighting with a cane since I walk with one.

Thanks.

Why the hell do railroad ties take a screw?

This will probably be the first mod I get.. Don't have much use for it now, but once I start using .44 and .50 I have a feeling I might need this. Hopefully it doesn't require a new game.

Finally got to the boat today, kinda randomly. Didn't set out seeking it, I was just doing a quest and it was like a block away from where the quest lead me, so I decided to scout it out a bit. I originally only got to see it from the steeple of the church, I scoped it out and saw lights and people walking on the deck but no clue who they were or anything (raiders, settlers, some faction etc) Because you could just barely make out things moving on the deck. So I started approaching slowly and crouched just in case and someone ran up to me that came from the ship and asked me aboard and I got a good look without having to slaughter everyone. Met a few of the people and  that place is definitely one of the more interesting ones I've found so far.

I left the above to be as non-spoiler as possible. Which is why I was calling robots people.. But in all honesty, I really couldn't tell they were robots from my original vantage point. I thought they were people because that far off they all had humanoid shapes. I don't want to have to kill the scavengers but if it comes down to it, I'm definitely siding with the robots. I spent a good 15 minutes trying to wait for the stupid mercenary to leave the room so I could steal the chip, but that fuck stays 24/7. I tried to find a way to kill him without getting everyone else hostile, still no dice. Hadn't tried a stealth boy, but I really don't want to waste one on these people. In my eyes they are only slightly above raiders in status and the stealth boy is a hell of a lot more valuable than the 10 or less bullets I'd need to use to kill them all. I tried to get one of them to talk to me and maybe get an option to buy it off of them, but they won't talk. So I dunno, is there some other way?

Have not been to the ship yet, but there are certainly some well-executed areas in the game.
Ran through a parking garage turned into a "funhouse" of death -- filled with traps and haunted-house-esque  displays set up made out of dead raiders.

Fairly certain you're forced to kill one side or the other. Even if you help the scavengers they still try fucking you over anyway, so feel free to just wade in and slaughter the whole lot of the bastards.

Took some time to poke around the towns looking for new quests and found Lynda Carter.
