I must be slacking, I think I have somewhere between 50 and 75 manual saves so far. By game's end I expect I'll easily surpass 1k. It's a good habit to be in, I wouldn't call it common as in it happens all the time, but it's rare I can get through a game, not fuck up some major way (either something I did forever ago creates a glitch or I miss something I really can't live without) like 20 hours ago and without a ton of saves, I'm just screwed. Took me about 3 times of having to start all over from scratch after getting halfway or more into a game before I finally just went save happy in games.

Damn, the bottom half of the map is dangerous. Was just roaming down there from and ran into a level 38 named Raider that regenerates health almost as fast as I can deal it (I'm only level 22) and he rekt me. So when I reloaded I cut around it after getting the location found marker and the first location I found after that I wound up running into a level 50 mirelurk queen along with several level 25ish mirelurk hunters. Instadead.

I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

I tried playing on Survival mode for a little while to find more legendary enemies and it was CRAZY. i had to turn on the god mode cheat
even with the Crylator, which pretty much my best weapon besides Fat Man and Artillery, it takes like 15-30 seconds to kill most enemies. a boss i fought took like 2 minutes with just constant automatic fire
thankfully, i found out that most of the legendary drops are mediocre so i was happy to switch back to normal mode

Anyone know how the persuasion thing actually works? I've just reloaded a save a couple dozen times trying to get more money out of this chick and failed every time. It was yellow (I saw a red one at one point) and I passed the earlier 2 checks without having to reload. I'm not really that worried about the few extra caps I just got curious to see how long it'd take to pass, and it seems the answer is I never will..

Its based on your Charisma i think. as far as i can tell its a fixed ammount and the colors arent necessarily accurate.
ive failed an orange persuasuin 3 times in a row before i gave up, but then on a BOS quest, i did an orange and red persuasion, both on my first try
ive sinced maxed out my charisma and i'm also wearing the Mitutement generals uniform, so i have like 12 and i havnt failed a persuasion since

so i thought the driver update fixed my crashes i played for a day and a half with no more crashes, but just now it crashed twice in a row on me....fuk this is annoying wouldn't be nearly so bad if it didn't cause beeping sounds and require a hard boot
anyways where is the 'wire' for connecting generators to lights ect?
before anyone does what i did, papa murphys doesn't want just 'any' chair, and its not just a 'certain' chair, it adds a 'new' chair that isn't even under chairs

You get the prompt for wire from the generator itself.

This is how it works; 10 Charisma seems to be the threshold to always succeed.
Have 5 Charisma and +5 from the outfit I wear when talking to people, have not failed a single check.
This is why I have spent more on attributes rather than perks -- the game is definitely still very attribute driven, characters just start out with a number less points than in previous titles due to being able to level them each level up.

Well I know it's driven by charisma, but was curious about how the result is calculated or whatever you would call it.. Is there any order to it? Is it just totally random unless you max it out? I have like 4 or 5 charisma I think, I've passed most checks, but for reason, I can't pass this one even trying it multiple times over. I'm gonna do it another dozen and then just move on.
EDIT: Finally I passed it. Took 30 tries total I think. Thankfully you can quicksave in the middle of the conversation.

Lame, my game wont launch again getting some application load error.
This fucking game, I love it & can hate it at the same time. Just so damn buggy in certain ways, I know its a new release & all but its 2015 you would think they can make launches a little more smoother then this.
Bethesda, when will you learn. It's like they release a game in early access & want modders to pick up the scraps they were to lazy to polish. poor effort honestly.
They have the worst communication with their fans its like they just ignore them when they cry out about issues.
I mean they never patched being able to sheath two weapons at the same time in Skyrim & that game is 4 years old now they just rely on mods to fix that shit. It just goes to show how much the devs really care about their fans, they just wanna pump out some new DLC for it & move to the next game.
I fucking hate it but I'll still give them my money.
I really hope obsidian are allowed a shot at it again with the new engine.

Is it something like x3d sound or some shit? I had that problem. Fix is simple, reinstall directX 10. That's what I had when I first started trying to play after installing. Took me a half hour or so to figure it out.

Yeah, when I went looking for the issue that was the first thing suggested, not sure why that is supposed to help but first step given by tech support (not me talking to them, some correspondence I found) said to try restarting first to see if the problem persists, and if it does, then the answer is to reinstall directx. To be fair, that's not really Bethesda's fault (not that their games aren't buggy from time to time and especially when first launched). That's Microsoft .

this is the shit im getting
in the game the mouse just stops being able to move the cursor in the pipboy, outside of the pipboy i can still look around. but everytime i move the mouse it causes peeping noises. i can get the game to close using the keyboard commands. when i get to the desktop mouse movements still cause peeping, and my mouse buttons no longer work, i can't click to shutdown, i have to use my power button on my tower to shutdown
im going to try updating my sound drivers now i guess....but these bugs....this is the worst game launch i have ever seen
can you even update directx tho? i mean like dx 9 then dx 10, 10.1 or something then 11 ect. so i mean im sure i must have the newest version because steam always checks before a game installs

Not update, reinstall. I dunno why but apparently one of the DirectX files goes missing, it doesn't even just happen in Bethesda games. I just looked it up again, it's an X3DAudio dll on the first page of google, Metro 2033 is one of the other games that has this issue. Reinstalling, reinstalls that missing file.
As for your issues, it honestly sounds more like it's your computer than anything else. Hard to determine what or why over the internet, but that's the feeling I get from reading your troubles. I've seen failing components do some weird shit to how a computer behaves. I think I've only ever had 2 components go dead instantly, one was a PSU that took a power surge, and the other was a dvd drive getting demolished by a cracked disk exploding (I assume it was cracked anyways, nothing I noticed but I can't think of a single other reason why a CD would shatter into a hundred pieces just by being read).
The rest just slowly died and it took me awhile to even link the problems back to that component. Until I identify and replace the piece, my computer just behaves oddly.

for those of you "not" having issues, do you happen to be playing in full screen mode?
somewhere along the line i put it into windowed/borderless, i believe i did this because full screen mode caps you at 30fps, and windowed mode caps you at 60fps which gets rid of the screentear/stuttering when turning/strafting
which is discussed here
also a little guide with some tweeks if anyone is interested

oh and i can't reinstall directx, its part of windows 7 so u can't uninstall it, as for updating it and such, the download i got said it was already installed

I have the same Windows and was able to reinstall fine. I didn't uninstall or anything, just downloaded the june2010 direct x and opened the file as I would if I didn't have it installed already. It went through the installation process and problem was fixed.
And yes I am playing full screen. I cannot stand playing games in windowed mode.

maybe i found the wrong file then, there were 2 or 3 pages with downloads related to directx, think maybe i got the windows update KB thingy instead of the runtime one. it wasn't really labeled as a KB but think thats what i ended up with
anyways take a gander at the 33 pages of bugs/glitches in 2-3 days
