I downloaded it straight from the xbox store instead of buying the disc. It cost more than disc for some reason. Took around 5 hours to download.

Doesn't apply much to the console people (they can be pirated as well but I imagine anyone going to those lengths doesn't give a single fuck about being a pure pirate anyways) but you know it's not really "stealing" if you buy a copy of the game and still torrent a pirated copy right? If you want to support the company, you can do so buy buying the physical copy and never even opening it or buying it and destroying the disks and reg code (so you can't later resell it and have had the game for free in the long run). Pirate your copy, burn it to a disc, and you don't have to download anything except maybe patches  in the future.

Just thought it was worth mentioning.

But I think that is getting more pointless all the time, these days almost all games have some online version you can buy and not waste your time with the physical copy anyways. So just go that method in the future. I always loved having physical copies of my games, but these days they don't make much sense. The incentive for having a physical copy is not having to download it. When you have to with the factory physical copies anyways, it pretty much loses the entire point.

I'd be happy to pay 5$ extra for a blu-ray containing the whole game if that's what it took:3

I don't understand why they don't know they have a market to do this

I don't know if I'm some weird holdout, but I do not have a blu-ray drive in my computer. Most likely will never get one either. So that could be why, reaching the largest market possible. Pretty much everyone has a DVD drive, not all have a blu-ray drive. Maybe offering both could work, but that would add to production costs.

I see no point in ever getting a blu-ray. The vast majority of all media I get, is done solely through the internet. I have never found a need for larger space when writing to a disc, I very rarely do it. When I do, it is 100% of the time some CD I made to play in my car while driving. I've had my computer for a couple of years now (I built it myself) and I have used the DVD drive maybe a dozen times. The only reason I even have that is because they are cheap as fuck these days and at some point I may need to create a boot disk. In times past when I didn't have the network drivers on an install or anything along those lines, I would write a disk on another computer. These days, I do that with a thumb drive.

I think I just happened to buy my computer in that brief period where it seemed people were going to start using blu ray  though it didn't exactly cost extra it seemed - so why not have the capability along with everything else?

This sucks ass, I miss another hyped game all because I didnt finish fallout 3 and its just sitting in my face, and I dont play it. I dont want to buy fallout 4 cuz I havent even played 3 or 2 or 1.

The day this game was released which was monday I think, I gave food out to a customer in the parking lot and he was holding a xbox version of fallout 4, when I seen it I said 'aw man, I see you got fallout 4'
he said 'yeah man its a good game, you gunna buy it?'

That exact moment I felt like a retarded fuck because I said 'na I havent even beat fallout 3 yet' so I tell him 'game on' and leave. Instantaneously realizing I yet again, miss another super hyped game.

One of the story quests gave me a ton of .45 ammo.  Then doing a bit more of the Brotherhood gave me a random .45 sniper rifle.  Was nice.

Wish that I didn't have to hunt Super Mutants for ammo for my baby though.

Love exploding cars in a pinch when I'm out.

Mostly enjoying just exploring and finding little locations.

Like the crazy cat lady.

Or finding a way up onto the overpass to look out over Cambridge.

The overpass was a great moment, because it really reinforces how much of the map is used -- everywhere I have visited so far has been in some way accessible, rather than riding a horse up mountains.

Having a good time.  Glad more people are getting their copies, and hope downloads go smooth for everyone.

Other than bits of lore that do not break the experience in any way, there is no reason you can't Play 4 without having played NV, 3, 2 or 1. Most of the lore in Fallout games are just little treats they give us where someone who's played the previous ones can go "Ah hah!" and have a laugh. The way it's presented though, is in no way dependent on finding the reference in the previous games. To anyone who hasn't experienced it before, it's just random amusement.

Idk I know its gunna be great but I know if I play fallout 4, im gunna be thinking of fallout 3, and then probably play that first finally and wait on fallout 4, which would probably be months later cuz I heard fallout 3 is big and epic.

"I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

At the moment I'm dealing with a lot of ghouls (the enemies I hated the most from 3 :crankey: damn things come out of nowhere and make me jump constantly) and a few shots is all it really takes. As for armor, nothing special at all. I think army fatigues and leather pieces. I rarely worry much about armor in Fallout. I almost never use melee weapons, short of very heavy engagements I can usually kill whoever or whatever without taking much damage anyways.

sounds to me like you need to play higher difficulties brochacho. At least in 3 and NV it forced you to use everything to your advantage on "very hard". made you actually be strategic.

Thanks, for some reason it didn't enter into my mind that a perk would effect that. I thought it was odd how every damn thing I was offered in scrapping weapons and such, was the most abundant materials available. Seemed pointless.

:zomgwtf: Also I'd like to take this time to say fuck screws. Unless there's some perk that also allows you to scavenge more components from items, this is bullshit. This wasn't ancient times or anything, screws are everywhere and as plentiful as steel. Why the hell are they like some rare commodity? Even silver is more plentiful. The fuck.

As a side note to all new players just starting, take every damn desk fan, globe and hot plate you see. You'll thank me later.

well you see back when the first vaults opened there were all these competing currencies. Bottle caps obviously won out in the end but there were some groups using screws, some marbles, all sorts of odds and ends. Naturally such things get scavenged quickly.

Its a wonder you can even find un-opened bottles of nuka cola as frequently as you do with bottle caps being the standard currency as long as they have. Be grateful :crankey:

I play at standard/normal difficulties when the choice is between 3. When there's like 5 or something I'll be on the 4th. I have no interest at all in constantly getting pissed off by playing some insane difficulty akin to playing Dark Souls. That's just not fun and the whole reason I play games is to have fun.

It's not that I'm playing games with training wheels where I can't be hurt, I can and often am, I've already nearly died probably a dozen times in this game. I'm just a very experienced gamer and know how to use the environment to my advantage (including "funneling" large numbers of enemies in a way where I only have to deal with a couple at a time) and know the differences between weapons and what's best to use in any given situation.

From the recon team, but stumbled across it before the Brotherhood gave me that actual mission.

One of the guards in Diamond City gave me a misc quest to go to the Salem Witch Museum, and magic and witchcraft always interested me, so I dropped everything and trekked across the map to do it.
Then I got stomped by what was inside and decided I'll go back later.
