no it only seemed that way because of the way they start you off, you had that 1 little note in the journal that took forever to figuer out the next part.  but the way the story was told, and the side stories, guilds, ect, and quests all drew you in.  floating prison, sneak in lock pick shit....i still remember that decade later because it was good story.  just like the magic guild and learning about soul stones ect......boss at the end with the mallet thing you get to kill him with and he's in like a volcano with lava, i never remember endings to games but that one i did.  dude oblivion and skyrim didn't draw you in like that at all, it was all save the king, kill the dragons, close the gates to oblivion (que the captain picard voice).

Most of the loot was not random generated in morrowind......there was a shitload of unique stuff that you would find in the same spot every game, boots of blinding speed from the hermit crab, ect ect.

the dungeons in oblivion were consistent between playthroughs but they used a generator to do it from what i remember, the loot was all random as hell for sure tho that made all the enemys seem the same, just made everything bland.  See in morrowind you could take a risk, go somewhere hard, outsmart the mechanics with spells and what not, and be rewarded for it.

lolwut? Morrowind had the LEAST amount of story and lore, by leaps and bounds, compared to oblivion and skyrim.

Also, lots of the loot was randomly generated in morrowind, even though the dungeons werent. and as far as i know, oblivion and skyrims dungeons werent randomly generated either. they are consistent between playthroughs

The series actually got less randomly generated over time.

Part of the reason that Morrowind was so much smaller than Arena and Daggerfall was because they moved away from a randomly generated worldspace.

i'm not bashing morrowind, ive put hundreds of hours into the game... i'm just saying it was no better than Oblivion and Skyrim when it comes to the storytelling and Lore

Most of the loot in morrowind IS randomly generated depending on your level.
and Oblivion / Skyrim have alot more unique items than morrowind did. they also had way more books to read.

Edit: actually now that i think about it you might be right, leveled loot isnt necessarily randomly generated

basically they spend all their time creating the open world graphics and landscape, and everything else is sloppy as shit.  and my same complaints with the previous games is they killed off alot of the cool shit from the original games that made them memorable and unique.

i think i played fallout 3 and new vagas for about 10-15 hours each, and about 30 minutes of that was story line, and of those 30 minutes, 29 minutes was walking from point A to point B..........it makes it really hard to give a shit, and if you can't give a shit then you can't immerse yourself into the game.  The only thing immersive was trying to collect everything, you waste all your time doing that, till you eventually give up and realize non of it matters anyway.  Those games from the 90's had such good story writting, it was like reading a good book.  All these newer games its like some xbox 360 halo kid got a job as a writter.

anyways i don't expect fallout 4 to bring anything new to the table, its practically turned into madden games at this point, same thing with the elder scrolls games, and they are so similar that it hurts both franchises

Not even going to attempt to refute the retarded nature of this post.

I guess that vid posted earlier today was only like half the vid. Dunno how long this'll stay up but here ya go. Seems my suspicion that the Institute (that old guy from Fallout 3 in Rivet City looking for the android + what remains of MIT) makes an appearance in Fallout 4 was correct, since I noticed he has multiple Institute weapons in his inventory.

"I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

Had seen it, but thanks for sharing for anyone who hasn't.

There were also two videos of the intro portion that I avoided watching due to potential spoilers.

Images have leaked of (apparently) PC Ultra quality graphics:
http://imgur.com/a/Wj4dm

The news story I read about it mentioned that there is no certainty as to whether it has a launch day patch somehow/whether that would actually impact graphics anyway.

Chart comprised of all levels of all perks in the game:
http://www.techtimes.com/articles/102601/20151103/fallout-4-perk-rank-revealed.htm

Some interesting things to consider in here.
Sound justification to go 10 Strength 9 Intelligence in order to make the most of out Power Armor -- Strength for the sprint attack, Intelligence for increased duration in Power Armor.

Part of me wants to use Party Boy + Critical Banker + Iron Fist to make a drunken boxer though.

Aquaboy could be interesting on a stealth character if there are a number of options to swim.

Going to have a lot of fun with different character concepts.

:whyyy: Why does this shit keep getting bumped.  :gocrythen: It's worse than the months leading up to these few days. I'm getting reminded every few hours about it . This waiting is fucking killing me. I have been waiting for 4 since 3. NV did NOT satisfy me. Since my completion of 3, I've been anxiously awaiting even the announcement of 4.

Why is the last week so hard to take..?! I keep spam checking torreting sites hoping one will pop up before it's released and I get my copy. Given the worldwide anticipation, I don't even need to preorder it to guarantee I'll be able to get one.

This damn anticipation is killing me, and if this game lets me down somehow, I am going to be fucking pissed. I literally cannot remember the last time I've looked forward to a games release as I have this one. I bought Fallout 3 on a complete whim. I didn't even buy it for the gameplay, I didn't know about morrow wind, oblivion, the prior franchises or anything. It was on sale at Walmart while looking for a new game and it caught my eye. I literally bought it because I thought it'd be a good online FPS. Yes you read that right. I bought it without EVER expecting a story. I had grown bored with my current FPSs (by far my favorite genre) and as always decided to play the story for a while to get used to the controls and basics. After a couple of hours, I went to find the online serves and join in (I do this with all new franchises).

Was only then I discovered there weren't any. Not wanting to waste the money, I decided to stick with it and at least finish the story and "not waste the money". Not even halfway in, it had become one of my top favorite franchises. Definitely one of the top 5. The others of the top 5 being Battlefield, Price of Persia, Midnight Club and Uncharted with a special mention of God of War which ties with PoP.

I care about this series just as much as the next guy if not a tad more, but somehow couldn't care less about the wait or the hype.

The hype is just annoying, especially in person. People going on and on about little details that got leaked. Just wait until the game is in your hand.

Its a high quality video game not the second coming of jesus :smug:

...

At this point, am subscribed to a number of update feeds about the game.
Come back and wake up my computer --> new updates to check out.

Some things do not interest me, such as the voiced protaganists or the new Fallout chat emojis for iphone and android.
Others, like character building information, are entirely relevant to me.  Am the sort of person that will end up paralyzed for hours trying to perfect my stats in-game if I don't get it worked out in advance.

You may want to consider hiding this thread if it is stressing you out though -- Bethesda.net has almost put up more updates about the game this week than they did in the month prior to it, so there may be a number more bumps in the future, though not all the recent stories were worth bothering with.

Sat down today and the update was details about the graphic system:

https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/the-graphics-technology-of-fallout-4/2015/11/04/45

Not necessarily pertinent to anyone who isn't into modding, but some interesting screenshots and I am posting here at the moment, so I'm polite enough to share.

I like your story.  It reflects on how people can make it to this franchise in very different ways.
FPS players seem to get a lot of flak on the Fallout topic, but am personally rather glad that Bethesda has made efforts to make the FPS shooting in game of a better quality this time around.

Personally had my first exposure to the original Fallout back in Elementary school -- If I recall, it even came out before Pokémon.
Looking back, I realize that I missed a number of the jokes and questionable situations in the game.  Was more caught up in exploring and shooting people in the groin.

The series has made changes in gameplay over time, but am still excited to jump back in.

i just reinstalled skyrim actually along with like 30 mods, now that its been out forever maybe these mods made it more entertaining.

I think some of the mods fucked it up tho, i can pick objects up but i can't move bodys for some reason, not even hands and arms.  Supposed to have a gore mod installed that lets you cut off heads and arms n stuff but that doesn't appear to be happening

they need to get these modders together and just make one really big overhaul and let you adjust what you want via the ingame skyUI shit, having all these mods seperate is just too annoying.  They do have a few overhauls but its only for like 3 things

Lots of mods do actually have settings menus thru SkyUi, including bloody dismemberment.

But of course with your track record of not understanding simple menus, I can see why you have trouble with it.

simple menu's?  how about your track record of not being able to read?  I said to have an entire overhaul for everything then just adjust what you do and don't want via the menu skyui...so obviously i know that the mods can be edited  ABC Learn to read:feelswierman:
