Can somebody clear this up for me?
    #21752083 - 06/02/15 10:23 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

So my shrooms have fuzzy feet ive been using the search function but each post has different answers everyone seems to say that its one of three things

1.Lack of FAE (i have a sgfc)
2.Too much humidity in fc
3.Nothing to worry about its all gucci

Aerial myceluim. It's a sign of too much humidity. Fan a little more, and spray only once the sub looks dry (not glistening with moisture).

And congratz on the pins

How often do you fan/mist?

Do you have enough/right size air holes in the SGFC?

Those look like they are going to have some nice sized caps, you best post more pics when they fully mature! I conquer with myco ninja's solution You can use a lid to fan them off since it looks like they are in a glass terrarium and get yourself a fine mist bottle if you are not using one already

 sounds about right.  Maybe you're misting too much.  I usually wouldn't try to direct the mist right at the cakes, but more towards the walls and perlite just to keep the humidity up.  AFAIK there should never be water droplets on fruiting cakes, and if it is glistening wet I think it is better to just fan every couple hours and not mist until they evaporate a bit.

I will try that because i def have been misting directly thanks for the advice guys i will definatley try that but everybody seems to agree that fuzzy bases dont effect the mushrooms that much so im not super worried =)

the fruits looks almost as if the water content in the cakes are off,
judging by the pics and the mushroom shapes I'd guess too much moisture actually.

also there's no such thing as too high humidity, stale air will cause fuzzy feet tho so FAE is the solution.

have you checked if some of the bottom holes are clogged by pieces of perlite?

Yeah i just did there was no clogging but i did notice my sgfc was a little close to the dressure so now it has at least a foot of clearence on each side and i know its got some fae going on because the cakes will be dry by noon-1 o clock

Yeah it has happened to me for sure when I left cakes unattended for a couple days.  It's definitely not a huge deal, but it creates a more suitable environment for other fungi/bacteria to colonize your fungi, and possibly confuses the mushroom so it doesn't fruit as well, so it is good that you're working on a solution.  Good luck in any case I'm sure they'll be fine

It looks great, sounds like your schedule is dialed, I would just make some of the holes bigger to dial in your air flow if your worried about to much air just shove some polyfill in the hole. Also it looks like it is only pinning on one side, I like to rotate tubs so they get even lighting on all sides, but that is preference.

Fan more.

You are correct with all 3 of your possibilities though... Fanning more will help with the high humidity. But honestly, your pins will grow just fine regardless, just will see longer stems and smaller caps probably.

I was under the impression that with malabars you have a thick knarly stalk with a smaller cap by comparison anyway but i do want them to be as healthy as possible =)

cubes are cubes :jah: minus albinos and ones like red-spore, you won't see too much difference between the different cubes from different regions.

But all mushrooms can get that myc growing on the base of the stipe if there is not enough fae.
