My pink elephant says:
Hey! I took a week off from work for ayahuasca. I brewed my first ayahuasca last night (2 doses for 2 nights) and I'm pretty sure I did everything right but I didn't "breakthrough". I followed the diet, I set my intentions, I did yoga, I meditated (as I do daily). I was really tired (could this be a factor?) after over 9 hours of brewing but I had made a commitment and I intended to keep it .
Sidenote, I am still under the impression that the medicine will work in me regardless of whether I had a breakthrough experience, with visions or not. But I want to go "deeper" or should I wait until aya gives me the go-ahead. I like what someone said on a forum -about ayahuasca taking a few sessions to show herself. [Maybe] "it's a test of dedication, 'stand on the porch for 3 days while being insulted and told to leave' style initiation"
Back to last night...I had a headache at the time, and some time after drinking the brew, I realized I could make the headache go away if I focused ( in a way I can't possibly explain). I laid down for over an hour or more with my sitter, probably drifting in an out of sleep. At times my body felt heavy, and sounds from outside sounded .... a bit off, the candles seemed too bright (I moved them out of sight). With my eyes closed I felt a bit drunk at times. At some point I felt very awake but again nothing for a while, I was contemplating taking the second dose I was saving for the next day, but thought it best to just retire for the night. I did not throw up or feel nausea at any point although my stomach was making noises.
I usually have very vivid dreams, but last nights dreams were intense, vivid, and memorable. I will write them down later. This also signals to me that ayahuasca was working(or my own spiritual alertness from cleansing all week and brewing all day?), I guess my question is should I increase the dose, or stay the course. I've read that for some people it takes a few sessions to breakthrough to visions and deep healing, even in the jungle. I have 3 sessions planned but I have enough for 4.
I'll write down the tek I used, sorry if it's a bit long I want to be thorough and get your opinions!
2 doses worth ( I didn't want to over do it my first time)
OVER 113 grams white caapi (I was going to use exactly 100grams but I had a dream I used all 4ish ounces)
40 grams Hawaiian Viridis (fresh but frozen) (for 20 grams each dose because I read Hawaiian Viridis were pretty potent and I got them from a source that has potent entheogens)
I hammered the cappi until it was shredded (some was pulverized, though that wasn't my intention), Defrosted the viridis that was in my freezer for a couple of months.
Boiled ( I read a slow BOIL was ok, they do it in the jungle that way) both together in 3 liters of water with 1 tablespoon white distilled vinegar per liter. I boiled for 3 hours, strained and reduced the ayahuasca in a second stainless steel pot while I boiled the viridis and caapi again (same method).
I boiled a total of three times (twice for 3 hours, last time for 2 hours). Each time I reduced the strained contents to about a 1/4 cup or less. ( should I have waited until everything was brewed and strained AND THEN reduced together?). So all together I had a bit over half a cup and I drank half of that last night. ------------------
I froze the left over plant material took it out this morning and put it in 3 liters of water and 3 tablespoons vinegar. I will do one more boil.
Sorry this is soo lengthy again I wanted to be thorough.
I guess my questions are
-Should I go ahead and take the second dose as planned (with the added contents from this morning) because ayahuasca works when its ready to work and I had a good tek.
-I have syrian rue, should I use that in conjunction with above and if so how much? (I'm not sure about the caapi quality I have, but i felt SOMETHING last night and I really wanted to have a traditional ayahuasca experience with just caapi and viridis)
- For my third session should I increase the Hawaiian viridis, so 50 grams yellow caapi(yellow is what i have left) and 50 grams Hawaaian viridis (as I don't plan on increasing tonight's dose except for adding the frozen materials and maybe syrian rue if its a good idea)
-Could boiling the strained brew separately after each boil have something to do with decreased potency? Next time, should I wait until all three strained brews are collected and THEN reduce together? And should this strained brew be at a simmer or boil?
(after the 3rd session I will have a bit over 50 grams yellow caapi left and 50 grams dried viridis from a different source)
If you got this far, thanks so much for reading, I know that was a lot. Peace and love.
