Question about White Mold Growth Patterns and Speed
    #21751442 - 06/02/15 04:26 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

How would you compare the growth of the mushroom and the white mold hyphae? Do both always grow in a starburst pattern?  Speed of growth?  What factors would cause Mycelium to have small diameter hyphae while identical jars with the same strain have a much thicker diameter?

On this one , one of the injection ports had no growth , 2 had what i expected , but the third , which only recently did anything , is now a lighter color but im not sure if its tomentose growth or white mold ala cobweb. Any help will be rewarded with next life hjs.

Too blurry. 1st is definitely mycelium. 2nd looks troubling but mycelium can be darker too. It's just easier to look and tell you. With the more you do, the easier it gets to tell what's mycelium.

Yeah man we need some better pics on that 2nd one a good diy test is to sniff the jars if they smell like moldy bread they are more than likely contaminated

I personally never would sniff anything still growing(unless you can actually smell stuff through the filter). I actually never really sniff anything except stalling/suspected of bacteria. Everything else just smells like nothing or mushrooms (my nose sucks). So I trust my eyes. It's a good vector for more contaminations too.

It'd be way better if he could take a better pic to know what the verdict is because we know what mycelium looks like. It's very sterile way of doing it too

I have had 2 jars look perfectly fine but smelt off.. It's best to use both methods.  I only smell my spawn when it looks perfect though.

Yeah I smell during spawning. Should have specified. But at this stage I'd just get a better picture. It'd be the better route.

disregard this i sucks cock... little tiny cocks growing out of a healthy cake baby   Decided to do em all in individual coke bottle FCs , just in case either was contaminated , the one with the thicker hypae is growing at a much more rapid rate , and im now of the opinion that the Albino strains are very sickly and nowhere near as healthy as this Mazatapaca . Thanks guys.
