So by my calculations, I save 500$ per month, and if I continue to grow at this rate, I would save 30,000$ in the next 5 years by not buying from midwest grow kits.
OP is not trying to to be a shroom king pin like you. If you know what youre doing and are trying to run a grow op, of course you play by those rules.
Im paying for convienance, peace of mind and when it comes down to growing less than a pound of shrooms with no experience, its a great deal.
"Minimal research" for some can amount to hours of digging through conflicting opinions in endless threads like i did before i said f it and went premade. So happy i did!
I dont give a shit about learning anything. i just want shrooms asap. Midwest delivers.

OP deff trying to learn.
i went out and got stuff today, 2 totes (66qt), gloves, 70IPA, jars, Tinfoil, some glad stuff (to do Agar in plastic and not glass i saw i can pressure cook the plastic fine 5-10 times)
I dont have a Pressure cooker, spores, or a substrate, or agar yet. many places were closed when i went out already. As far as a PC goes, is aluminum OK or do i NEED stainless steel quality?
Thinking about substrate, I can probably get manure (horse) VERY easy, and VERY cheap. is it easy to use compared to BRF/Verm?

it's all easy stuff. it's the learning how to ride the bike part and sorting it all out that some people struggle with. depends on your tenacity to succeed. some noobs post a monotub grow on their first post because that's how good their research skills are some people don't. I didn't have much to show with my first post but I was determined and here I am now.
aluminum PCs are just fine.

pasteurize it.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17246844 jars if you're doing a few to a case of quart jars at a time.

Ok. I'll be doing that then. Next question- What do i case it with, and should I add BRF to add food nutrients for more flushes

no leave brf in the PF cakes. BRF is like the grain spawn just ground up. the grain spawn is your "new brf" if you're doing spawn and bulk substrate grows.
you can use coir, vermiculite, CVG, jiffy mix, cactus soil, potting soil, peat moss and lime, and some other things as a casing, but you don't need a casing layer at all.

Personally I skipped the whole pf cake thing ( i did start to make them but imo it was a pita) I went with coir for bulk and am using h.poo now, poo is just as easy as coir imo.
If you can follow a tek you will do just fine, there's lots of knowledgeable people here that will help you the whole way

Yeah. I'm just going to start with h-poo. So a casing layer isnt neccesary? How would you grow spawns if you don't make cakes? I'm trying to do Agar to ? to H-poo

agar to inoculate spawn jars(sterile and sterile technique). spawn jars to inoculate poo(cleanliness but not sanitary or sterile)
spawn into a monotub for instance and fruit it after colonization. make trays and put them in a SGFC. make blocks and put them in a green house.

What is a "tray"
and how do i make a shotgun fruiting chamber? I'd prefer to use as few holes as possible, and use Poly-fil... My cats are pricks and will probably be on or around the box at least some (will keep away as much as possible) so i cant have open holes in the tubs (2x)

So to my underatanding, basically this is what i should do (roughly)
Agar jars (first) Colonize the jars Make the tubs, sterilize them (70%iso rub, right?) Pasteurize the poop, & add it to the tubs when I'm ready to coloni ----tape the holes until colonized, right? (light cycle here????) Once colonized, I can remove the tape, and add Polyfil+fan, correct? (How would I do the bottom holes? if they are at first taped for colonization, and then i change to polyfill if it's colonized, arent the holes under the substrate on the side, wouldnt this create an issue?) Wait.

You don't sterilize the tub nor do you sanitize it. It doesnt have to be that clean after you use you spawn to inoculate bulk substrate.
70% iso is a sanitizer not a sterilization replacement
