so i thought i'd mention this,
wonder what y'all think?
seems like a good idea to me, to not have phone or any distraction while one explores higher realms of consciousness.

Cell phone ruined my last trip. I was starting to trip really good and then bam my phone rang, scared the shit out of me and I couldn't get back to where I was
before. BOO! Turn the damn phone off, or at least airplane mode.

100% agreed. In fact I haven't even had my cell phone set up for over a year now, the only downfall is girls like to text but fuck it man.

its only logical to turn off your phone during a trip. I keep mine on silent and ill check it once in awhile only to check the texts because if its an emergency, ill get a text after the missed call.

I toss all electronics when I trip...they become pretty useless, anyway.I like heavy doses of mushrooms, ...where music doesn't even make sense to me...at least till the back end...then maybe I'll pick up my acoustic and screw around.
I arrange my trips so that I have a clear schedule for the rest of that day....this doesn't come often, though....I've personally seen way too many people flip their moods from good to bad because of a fucking phone call.

I always turn it off as well as hiding it. Just to make sure that when I am in the middle of the trip worrying that I might have used the phone for whatever reason..I have one less thing to be anxious/worried about.

Reminds me - my second or third LSD trip, I got a phone call for a job interview right as I was starting to come down... I don't know how the fuck she didn't know I was on something, I guess I just kept my cool better than I thought.
Definitely turn off your phone(s) when tripping

NO PHONE while tripping.
I was in my bedroom tripping on a Saturday night when I was 18, in 1981. I had a phone in my room, but it was the same phone as the rest of the house. When it rang my mom or dad would usually answer it. I would hog the phone at night talking to my girlfriend (Mary), the girl I was with all through high school. I also had a girlfriend I knew from summer camp (Elaine), we fell in love 3 years earlier but lived too far apart to stay together but we still kept in touch.
So on this Saturday night, I was expecting a call from my old girlfriend, the one from camp. I was tripping with my friends and it didn't occur to me that it might be a bad idea. The phone rings and I answer it right away, she says hi and I start to talk. I say - Elaine, I still love you and I always will. She starts to flip out. Elaine? This is Mary (my girlfriend). Holy shit, I totally fucked up. I'm sitting there tripping with my girlfriend flipping out because I just professed my love for my old girlfriend. How fucked up is that? I don't remember what I did after that, but I remember my heart almost stopping. And there's a good chance one of my parents was listening on another extension, but they never mentioned it. I probably spent the rest of the night saying idiotic shit to try and fix things, because we didn't break up after that.
And after all that call was over, Elaine called and I had to talk to her! What a fucking night...
Fast forward to now - I've been married to Elaine for 27 years.

Yes turning off the phone function off the cellphone while tripping is a good call. Sometimes it's a good call even when not tripping.
But I think its also a good idea if you trip to be responsible and have a phone just in case. I mainly still kept mine on during trips just for using it as an mp3 player.. music can greatly enhance a trip if its the right kind of music.

Tripping is a "no calls zone" for me, and texting is difficult when things are moving around. I like playing some of my games on my phone, if only briefly, during a trip... just not communicating with the ouside world.
But I usually just watch a movie or go for a walk on shrooms (I live close to three nature parks ) Althought my next trip is comming up soon, and I'm thinking how much fun it'll be to hang out on shroomery until the letters move around too much to keep going

Mobiles can be evil things. I remember tripping on 3 tabs of acid at midnight on a day off I had with a friend of mine. The trip was amazing & around towards the last end of the trip I get a phone call from my boss at 7:00 AM I freak out thinking "I HAVE to answer this, its work!" thinking my boss should also remember I have the day off so there should be no real issues.
I stand up & brace myself for the greeting, I slide answer on my phone & as I am swinging it up to my ear I think to myself "I can just act like I'm asleep because its my day off & its early in the morning" but as I am thinking this I answer completely alert & awake sounding "Hey mate how you going?" instantly I'm thinking "FUCK you fool!" I wait back for a reply & I hear nothing, nervous I say again "Hello?" I hear some odd noises & swishing sounds it then dawns to me its a pocket call. I slowly move the phone away from my ear & cancel it returning back to my friend announcing I just got a pocket call at the worst possible fucking time.
I will admit mobiles are really fun to look at while tripping but yes airplane mode is a must so no one calls you! shit can go sour with a jumble of words no matter how sober you think you can sound.

It can be bad if you use it and get in trouble. So trouble and possible jail time is at your fingertips. But! So is music, the internet, art, movies, youtube. I always am doing fun stuff on acid on my phone.
Shrooms though? Might be best to turn off. I like to play nature sounds though, but leave my phone in a corner somewhere so I forget ist even there

I agree, I think mobiles have become more evil than good . If you listen to a lot of Terence McKenna he can put it into language like no one else. How we are a species severly addicted to things and stuff. We really need to stop consuming and start creating.. That's the jist of it.. Shrooms seem to make those thoughts stand out and also made me more aware of how everyone is glued to some sort of tablet or phone or facebook and we seem to have a tendency to mis use them even though computers can be very useful .
I have had my cell phone turned off for awhile and honestly it's kind of like having a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. My condolences if you work for a communications company.

Culture plays a game of simplification IF you can make people think alike they will buy alike they will worship alike and you know if politics demands it they will kill alike. SO the uniformitarian agenda of culture is not an agenda friendly to you or to me or to any other individual. ANd if you start out from that point of view you will soon realize that culture is NOT your friend.
If you define yourself as a member of a group.. of any group. KNOW that thatis a gross simplification and that everything about you that is interestingand unique is betrayed by defining yoruself in that way.
These gross simplifications betray humanity betray uniqueness make sane politics impossible..
what we have to do is get back to the individual identity.. what we need to celebrate is the individual.
have you not noticed that every historical change that you can think of is always ultimately traceable to one unit in the system undergoing a phase state change of some sort.
there are no group decisions.. those things come later..

I made the mistake of getting a call from my boss asking me about something deep -- long call, while tripping on 5 hits of acid ..
dont make the same mistake.. I dont think he found out (I'm a sysadm/programmer, we're naturally weird..)
Since then I've always turned off phone, hidden it, locked all doors, uninstalled facebook
It's funny how much you can mess up in that state, and what could happen if you use facebook in that state, dont!:P
It's not uncommon to think it's a good idea to dial 911, after all you're dying! who's your best friend when you're dying? - 911 of course and doctors!!
I would make this precaution on both LSD,MDMA,Shrooms , they do the same thing. They can give near death experience that feels 100% real, or a panic attack all of them.
and last: If you go deep with Salvia, you need to baricade all doors and windows! that's not a molecule to take lightly, unless you're an experienced shaman it's easy to start walking around while not conscious on Salvia..
Salvia is even more dangerous than a high dose of LSD, because you are not conscious in that state you could do anything - usually open the door and run outside, out in front of traffic
There's nothing inherently wrong with Salvia, in fact it's a wonderous journey in the right setting the right setting for me is laying down, always a superb trip, or chewing in meditative setting
Salvia demands respect, and high doses of the other ones do too, there's not any place for mistakes really, so you gotta take utmost respect of your setting when you do high or mediumhigh doses of any of these drugs (LSD,shrooms, salvia,E) - at least I would, I wouldn't gamble with my health, other's health, my mind, my job/family/friend situation
It's a big gamble else, you may regret a lot what you SMS you friends next day...

I go so far as to refuse to trip wih anybody who insists on havin their phone on them even if they say "I won't answer" or "it's on silent". People are getting pathetic with being addicted to phones at all times. Hell, I have even cancelled hikes with people who would not agree to leave their phone out of the woods.
For me, to be escaping responsability, reality, stress, and to explore my inner self does not =fucking around on a phone.
And yes, I am writing this on a phone. At least you can assume I am not tripping and not in the woods at this moment in time.

True, these molecules do great things to us
Make us remember nature
I even downgraded my Galaxy S3 to Nokia 3310 and I hardly use phone anymore, after tripping :-P
I cannot stand phones really, it disturbs the mind, brings stress I usually leave my phone at home at most times
But I also feel much better than before I started tripping 5 years ago, in almost every part of life
Technology changes, now I don't need the newest anymore, but I don't think I ever did but now I really don't care about new technology, could get carried away if my friends got the newest phone before - maybe, even though I usually didn't buy the newest
I actually feel bad if I use a modern cellphone, but not a nokia 3310 must be the bad vibes ;-)

But it's the same with tv and computer
Before I tripped I had a 42" tv, now I got a 24" crt
before I tripped I had the newest watercooled pc, now I got 2 15 year old ones - that I got for free
Less technology addicted, I can use anything, and they do the job fine But I still got my tv that I need to repair, it died
All my electronics died at once , somehow..., computers and tvs
Rather have houseplants and pets, than all that technology, but I'm not technology scared I just feel bad about bringing a phone around with me at all times , especially a new modern phone
Because it means I'm online 24/7, not enjoyable
Would never have given it a thought before tripping... before I thought it was good to be online as much as possible, visacard, 3g on laptop and phones, biggest tv etc. :-) biggest is best etc. - to some extent before
Our attachments to things consume us quickly, even people who are not very much into things once they get one thing they want more quickly
At least I know my attachments now, so I don't crave them so much anymore when I know how much misery they can bring, being online all the time is misery

I hate seeing other people using phones when I'm tripping. Like my sitter or a friend. Like we're not on the same wavelength

what a truly lovely conversation
i came back a day or two and didn't see the convo 'til now
in reply to the question, who did I call, tell all,
i partly only made this from an experience when a friend was on shrooms,
one of my friends' experiences led to this, hehe
so i made this.
'We really need to stop consuming and start creating.. That's the jist of it..'
yep yep yep

When I'm tripping alone I quite like being able to talk to people on my phone (As difficult as it is lol). Though this gets impossible past the 300/400ug mark for me.
Just put it on silent, and play music through something else.

Yea ideally you are right.. Preferably a high quality sound system and some trippy music. I listened to Barry Brown in Dub last time
But if you are walking around on shrooms in the forest as Im sure many of us do ... just make sure your headphones agood quality and your music is positive .

LOL! Best "tripping" story I've read in years. Must have made the right move if you've been hitched for the past 27 years Congrats!

I never keep my cell off because people who may be in an emergency and need to contact me, are more important than me having an undisturbed trip
