Pressure Cooking Liquid Culture on its side?

Hi Guys!
New to the Shroomery and the hobby. I decided to use this tek (http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18381574/fpart/all/vc/1) along with RogerRabbit's video series to get started.
I am on the phase where I am pressure cooking my liquid culture solution. I so far made one half-pint jar using 125ml water and 5ml honey. I want to make another one with a 1.5 pint mason jar but my pressure cooker is not tall enough. Would it be possible to lay the jar on its side? Also, I have a Presto 8qt pressure cooker with no gauge. How is it possible to measure the 15 psi for 15 minutes?
Thanks guys.

just a heads up, get yourself a 16qt presto. no matter what it takes...seriously.
the one you're quoting ranges from 10-12 psi and is way to small for adequate usage, you can expand your cook time by like...45 mins or somthing like that to make up for the lack of psi, but still...your pc sucks.
I wouldn't even fool with pc'ing a 1.5 pint jar of LC, that's not to say you can't do it;
simply drill a poly-fil hole (PULL IT THROUGH TIGHT!) on one end of the lid, and a SHiP on the other end (optional)...arrange it in the PC so the poly is up and out of the water, I would take the extra precaution of letting the pc run and then afterwards let it cool over night and open it in the morning, but that's just me...
can be done, and don't put too much LC in the jar either(less than half the volume of the jar)...you should be fine...

Unless you have a water proof filter and can raise you jar out of the water I wouldn't advise pc'ing it on it's side.
DO NOT get the presto 16qt if you have an extra 15 bucks to spare. Get a presto 21qt. Trust me you'll thank me later.
I started out with a presto 16qt over a year ago and it still runs wonderfully even though I think I need a new gasket. The problem is that it fits 7qt jars and cost 60-70 while the 21qt fits 10 qt jars and comes with a PSI gauge and only cost 80-90. If I'd have done my research I would have started off with a 21qt or even an All American.

my bad; I got a 16 qt presto with a gauge on sale at the tractor supply store; 3 damn quart jars ain't made a damn bit of difference
but if you can find the 21qt on sale, I say fuck it, why not? get it...the gauge is useless* by the way
edit:
*I mean, worthless.

Hell yeah brotha, the presto I bought has more than paid for itself. Mine didn't have a gauge though.
3 jars x 3-4 runs a day x 3-4 days a week = 27- 48 less jars you have sterilized for the same amount of stove space

Thanks for the replies.
I already bought the 8qt so I'm stuck with it at least for now :/
However, it does claim to reach 15 psi. Is there reason to doubt that claim? Once the top thing starts shaking violently, I start my timer. I use the tray it came with to keep the jar out of the water. I did this so far with a 1/2 pint and right now I have in the 1.5 pint jar cooling, I used 250 ml of water. It is tilted at about a 45 degree angle using a t shirt to rest on. I will inoculate both and let you all know the results.
Although it would be nice to do more jars at once, it's not a big deal for me to do a few runs.
