Living with wooden floors
    #21748735 - 06/01/15 02:16 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I'm moving in a couple weeks to a place with wooden floors and don't want to fuck the place up, it's too beautiful.

Do you have to put everything on like a rug or something to prevent everything from sliding or scratching the floor?

Do I have to worry about my shoes scuffing the floor? I feel like this place is going to turn me like half Asian.

Also, what are those bead door things called, I think I may put one between the living room and kitchen if I find a snazzy one.

I'm gonna do that all the time, but I like the snug comfort of shoes too.

They sell little cups to put under furniture feet. The place will be a lot noisier without the carpet buffer. I always wear non-marking shoes so I can't say about the scuffing.

You can buy cheap pads for your furniture. I don't think shoes would effect it too much unless it's really soft wood.

Those bead things almost always look trashy, but I don't know you may be able to pull it off. Won't it get food all over it if it's in your kitchen.

Depends on the type of flooring.

This.  I have "cork" floors, and while they're beyond awesome (and fairly expensive), they're soft as shit.

If they're real hardwood, you can always just refinish them.

I fucked up my wood floor, though it never looked nice even when it was new. Now it creaks and cracks. You can hear the cracks on the complete opposite side of the house.

I like carpet but I don't spill shit on the floor or have pets pissing everywhere. Hardwood requires too much caution and I live in a cold climate (-30f winters happen) so when I wake up, the wood is freezing. Carpet never had that issue
